  1. i thought this was going to be a thread about the forum's own Bruce commandeering a train.
  2. i need a drink gentlemen! I was wrongfully accused by our local law enforcement of passing a stopped school bus. the motorcycle cop was 200 feet ahead of us down the road. i'm positive that the bus driver did not have the flashing lights activated signaling that it was loading or unloading passengers. Had a relative that works with the court ask a judge for advice--basically i was told that I was screwed, unless I could get the school bus driver to admit that she did not activate the warning lights. Internet search says that the fine in California is $1000; I sure hope that is wrong. Heck, that's a pair of very nice Cornwalls! Attica! Attica! Attica!
  3. Jim--I volunteer to represent this forum on your first fishing trip. I will even bring my igroove so we can make it an official Klipsch excursion. Steve
  4. if the buyer is willing to pay a certain price, and the seller will part with that item for that price--then it was a fair deal. But, I agree with MDeneen though; hard to imagine those two guys making a good living--that is of course unless the network is paying them handsomely.
  5. hey guys, its been a few day since I've sat at the bar. Hope you all are doing well. Tarheel, keeping you and your bride in my prayers and hoping for the best of results. I do have one little question. They're actually letting you into duke? You must be going in disguise. Better make sure that your overnight bag doesn't have the UNC logo on it or you may come out of there circumsized or a reverse circumsizion.
  6. my favorite scene is when this guy comes in with some of that cowboy Monty Montana's stuff. Chumlee says, "hey hoss, come over here. This guy has some Hannah Montana stuff." The man looks at him strangely and says, "this is Monty Montana stuff." Chumlee gives him that dumb look and says, "is that her brother?"
  7. Harp on tap is an excellent drink, or two, or three, or four....
  8. an excel spreadsheet? so bill gates was in on this too? again, congratulations Elden--don't be dumb like me and listen to them real loud either.
  9. i think PWK adopted Dtel and that has been a well kept secret. elden, did amy tell you that by accepting the headphones, you must pass on the cornwalls to somebody--preferably me!
  10. p.s. Steve are you safe from RIFs? Yes Ben, I'm relatively safe (as in no current threat). the one thing that concerns me a little is that a majority of my salary comes from the revenue collected from property taxes, and with the housing bust, houses are being assessed at a lesser value--thus less taxes. the directors of my department are slow to hire because they don't want to ever lay someone off--so we operate with less people than we did in years past. when someone has retired or left for another job--sometimes they don't fill that vacancy. i'm hoping to last there for another five years at least--then I'll be eligible for another retirement. Chuck, hope the wife gets better very soon. Hang in there bud. Ace--still hoping that job comes quickly for you. don't give up. to everyone--Happy Friday!
  11. It wouldn't really matter, I always thought the Saints was kind of a pansy name for a football team. the bigger problem is that if you go to a game, you'll just want to see another one in an hour []
  12. will the distinguished gentlemen from chinassippi please refrain from making political jokes. you won't think it's so funny when they rename the Saints the Ninjas. [:S]
  13. Depends on what kind of "comfort". Southern Comfort (in a martini glass) [D]
  14. killer whaler trainers are like astronauts, or olympic athletes. i read that today, it was part of an actual quote.
  15. yeah; but, it's that other part that worries us. []
  16. i don't think the guys stand a chance this year--i know it's early but i've only seen two guys that have a chance. andrew garcia and that guy that they were teasing kara about. but i've learned not to underestimate the power of the public--some people like things that i think totally suck. There are about four of the women that i think are pretty good.
  17. Ben, are you safe from the RIFs? Where I work, we're not filling several vacancies in hopes of avoiding laying people off. Although other agencies within the county have layed off hundreds of people.
  18. i like that jazz singer girl Lily Scott; but, i think the best singer is Bowersox--i call her yellow teeth. she is a very good singer.

    The Blind Side

i think so, although i've never been to the south. spent six weeks in yorktown, VA don't know if that is considered part of the south or not. yeah, i'm an interesting mix--I guess I'm a southern fried Portugee. My Mom was full-blooded Portuguese and my Dad was Scottish but born in Tennessee. I am honoring my southern heritage by living in SOUTHERN California.
  20. i hear ya. one night my daughter was on the porch of her boyfriend's house saying goodbye and some gang bangers started shooting down the street (not at my daughter) several bullets hit her car and blew out the back window. makes me sick, and we live in an expensive beach town--go figure!
  21. sorry to hear that bad news fini. i sure hope you get out of pain very soon. if it helps, i'm a doctor on several computer games. i can remove an appendix on beginner and intermediate level. maybe back surgery is kinda like an appendectomy. don't worry about insurance or cash--i'll do the surgery for your speakers. in all seriousness, i hope you find the right doc and he gets you fixed up. i will pray for you my friend. Steve
