  1. you are one the sharpest dudes on the forum. I LOVE Doc Martin and have seen the first nine seasons more than once. Looking forward to the 10th and final season that should start airing this fall. I actually communicated with itv over in the UK and begged them to make another season after rumors were that season nine would be it. Not saying that my letter was the deciding factor; but they're doing "one more" season, so draw your own conclusions. My favorite character on that show is PC Joe Penhale. But, so many great characters on that show ... Bert Large is epic.
  2. Just wanted to say a special Hello George ... @MicroMara Hope you are doing well my friend. Hope all the rest of you are doing great. Unboxed my new 12-string guitar today ... maybe play it some tomorrow. Naturally, now that I own it, the "next" guitar is already on the horizon, but I think I'll wait until after my move to buy another. I only have 10 or 11, my bass playing buddy has well over 50 basses. His house looks like you walked into Guitar Center with all the bass guitars hanging on the walls and on stands in nearly every room. In his defense, he's a rather good bass player and has INCREDIBLE stage presence.
  3. very interesting story about how Head East got it's band name. You're a professor, so I'm sure you've heard it. One of the band's members said that a roadie, who lived with the band, stayed up all night frying on acid and when the sun rose, he thought it was telling him the band's name should be Head East. The band liked the uniqueness of the name and decided to use it.
  4. I've been only Klipsch since 1985; but that loyalty isn't absolute. They don't treat me well, I'll buy something else. Thankfully, I've not had any problem with them.
  5. Ran into Norm once at a basketball game ... either Clippers or Lakers, I don't recall. Probably Lakers as I've seen them a lot and have only been to one Clippers game (when they were playing the Lakers). Loved the guy. RIP Mr. MacDonald.
  6. sad news when that runs out -- best I've ever had.
  7. Now, a HUGE thank you for mentioning the Royal Guardsmen. I'm a huge fan! As a kid, I wore out Snoopy vs the Red Baron album.
  8. what was your first or favorite concert? for me ... my first was YES ... the Tormato Tour. Their first with the circular, rotating stage. Years later, I asked Rick Wakeman about that stage. He plays with his eyes closed and I asked him if the moving stage created any challenges for him when he closed his eyes. He said No, it didn't. He learns the song and then plays it with eyes closed to avoid distractions. He also told me that he preferred the rotating stage that they used on the UNION tour as it was bigger. My favorite concert ... QUEEN. But, David Gilmour was great. Roger Waters was great. And, don't laugh, I've seen some really, really good REO SPEEDWAGON shows back in the Gary Richrath days. I agree with the statement that I heard someone says once that REO Speedwagon is a good example of what happens when you take control of the band from the guitar player and give it to the lead singer ... after that happened with them, they became a radio Top 40 group.
  9. My favorite Bond was Roger Moore. I also think Pierce Brosnan made a good 007. Now, my brother, who is a show off, err... a reader, says that Daniel Craig does the best job at making Bond resemble the literary character that Bond was. As for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang ... well, I learnt long ago to NEVER watch the Dick Van Dyke show while you're eating. I laughed so hard I had an asthma attack. It was the episode where Laura was due to have the baby and he is sleeping in his suit so he won't have to waste time getting dressed. There is a scene where he's in bed and has his hat on the headboard and he's laying in bed and grabbing his hat to put in on, as if practicing. Epic comedy.
  10. You know me too well my friend. True story, I was at a parent/teacher conference once and the teacher asked me if I could read. She misinterpreted my statement that I couldn't help my kids with their homework. I was meaning thet my patience was too short and all of my attempts ended with frustration. She, in a very sympathetic way, said, "you can't read?"

Anne Bancroft was a looker to a degree; but Anne Baxter ... there was a real beauty.
  12. and peace to you. isn't if funny how taste varies? I suppose if we delve deep into our psyche there is more to our likes and dislikes than what the art presents. For instance, there is a gal that I was involved with once upon a time, I don't care to even hear her name anymore; but she reminds me of the music from Chicago ... hence, I refuse to listen to Chicago. Now, my opinion of Fleetwood Mac is based on just common musical sense ... they suck. well, they didn't in the Peter Green days; but the stuff after him ... yuk.
  13. Disclaimer: I"m not a fan of Hollywood in general. To the point, when done correctly, a movie or television series is impactful. We, in a sense, create a relationship with the characters. When that happens, it's probably the result of good writing. I'm very critical of writers these days and I think it lazy to just resort to sex. "I don't feel like thinking today, just write a scene where she shows her boobs." But, who are your favorite fictional characters from either big or small screen? For what it's worth ... I'm more like the character Doug Heffernan in the show King of Queens and my ex-wife would agree. But, I also identify with characters such as George Bailey in It's a Wonderful Life. I've been blessed, no doubt about it; but I often fail to focus on that. A woman once told me "You've done such amazing things in life" and I was shocked as I don't view my life as extraordinary. Because I'm so messed up, I also really like George Costanza. I took one a quiz recently that was supposed to determine which literary character we were. They asked a series of questions and then told me that I was Atticus Finch.
  14. I DON'T speak for him; but I don't think @oldtimeris a Genesis fan. They may be to him what Fleetwood Mac is to me. hope all is well with you billybob. Stay safe out there.
  15. @Dave1291so brother man ... hope you are fully recovered from your pacemaker procedure. So, I notice there is a forum member dave1290 ... is that your younger brother?
  16. I had a Miller a few decades ago ... I may have another one as soon as I can get that bad taste out of my mouth.
  17. yeah that was a good one; but so far ... Ghost to the Post was the best. I think he just named it that for my batch, not sure what it was called for the general public.
  18. oh that one ... that was the secret post.
  19. Been hooked on Rick Wakeman ever since I tagged along with my big brother and his buddy while they were going to the drive-in theatre (remember those days?). They were playing an eight track of YES Close to the Edge -- heard it, loved it, and was an instant fan. I'm fortunate and have got to meet all of my top three musicians ... Rick Wakeman, Brian May, and Steve Howe.
  20. The birds are blue. There is only one person on the face of this Earth that would get that statement; but I figured I'd say it anyway as it has a very deep meaning. Takes me back to my high school days ... which of course were filled with studying diligently, staying after school for extra credit, and spending my free time at the library. Speaking of high school, I took a class about Electricity. I had already enlisted in the coast guard under the delayed entry program. The electricity teacher was prior coast guard. He wrote on my final exam: "Final exam: F, Class Projects: F, Final Grade: C. Going into coast guard, all ships will sink." For the record, he was wrong. See, he was fair ... I apparently got credit for showing up; unlike that unfair algebra teacher that failed me for having 47 unexcused absences.
  21. @Full Rangethey've been around a long while. I think I first heard of them back in the mid 90s.
