  1. What good is a $3000 System, with "Regular" cables. That's like Buying a Corvette then trying to use cheap Gas. Here is the real kicker. If you would have went to an audio visual center that sold Klipsch you could have purchased the reference line for the same price as all the synergy 3 ceries. If you look at my system profile, I bought everything on there for under 3000. My speakers out the door were 2200(including the rw-12d). Any member on here will tell you the difference between the synergy and reference is night and day. You may want to take them back and look into that. I joined this forum and asked about the synergy line and luckily I got some good information and advice before purchasing.
  2. Not to mention if your have the cash for the 64 you may want to buy the 62 and invest the extra into a used two channel amp to drive the 82's. Mine sound excellent with just the yamaha receiver but I know if I had some more power it would really make them shine. Or, upgrade the sub. The center channel handles a lot of the voices and when you think about it do you need someones voice coming at you at 250 watts. The 62 is 150 watts, with a peak of either 400 or 600. Thats plenty of room for good dialogue. If you are really into loudness like I am you will listen to your music in two channel. And, not many recievers can really push the 64. If your reciever is 110 rms or 120 rms, you are really making it work over time with the 82s and a 64 up loud. Even though its rated at 7 channel, 770 watts, you have one power supply and if you have that baby up loud you are really making that reciever work harder than it was intended to. I am completely happy with the 62. My dream right now is of the 83s. Only because I do not value my hearing.[]
  3. The 64 is a monster and give up on finding an entertainment center that can house it. I have the 62 and it does not have any problems keeping up with anything I throw at it.
  4. Well I closed on my house last week. 3 bedroom 2 bath. I went to Best Buy last night and my fiance bought me a 61" Samsung DLP for my 6 year sobriety birthday. Im getting married to a girl that is way out of my league Jan. 6th. Now all I have to do is paint a 1200 sq.ft. house, redo 900 sq.ft. of hardwood floors, recarpet the basement, and move us both in before I can even take it out of the box. Talk about incentive to get it done. I believe all that is more than any guy can ask for in a 30 day period of his life. P.S. painting helpers needed[]
  5. Do not buy the synergy line. For the same cost as the f-3 you can go to a Klipsch dealer and haggle them to give you the Rf-82 for the same price. The rf-82 is part of the reference line and puts to shame the synergy line. Maybe a few bucks more but get the reference line. I almost made the same mistake but a forum member gave me the heads up. the 82s will blow you away.
  6. I went through the same dilemma. I heard all the bad stuff from all the other dealers. Finally made the decision to buy klipsch, once I got home and hooked them all up I sat in a pile of tears rejoicing at what was coming through them and how it sounded. I not only made the right decision, but avoided a potential very bad one. I have never heard such awesome sounds in all my life. With the klipsch speakers you dont listen to a concert, you go to one. You cannot match klipsch with any other speaker in their price range. I cannnot afford to buy twice. Paradign is a good speaker, but Klipsch is a great speaker. I am biased only because of the klipsch quality and are excellent at customer service.
  7. After hearing some talk about the jbl f113 I researched it and came across the Gotham. I fell in love instantly. Im new to the scene and I have a rw-12d and for my room it hits plenty hard and low. I just can not comprehend what a Gotham would sound like. It must be pure insanity. I myself am a big fan of the low's.
  8. I have the 82's and you will not be disappointed when you get them home.
  9. This site is as good as any. Many people talk bad about horn loaded speakers, but you will find that it is people that dont sell them. Klipsch is the most efficent speaker out there. You get more sound quality for less power. Which is especially good when you are not looking to spend 1000-4000 on an amp. Be happy you stumbled upon Klipsch before spending money on something like Bose, or other over marketed products where you are paying for the advertisement and not the actual product. Audio Review has a good review section. As far as hook-up goes there are some true geniuses on this site with degree's in sound and electrical so ask away and they will be happy to answer your questions.
  10. You will hear varied opinions, but for a room that size I would go with the Rf-82s on a mimimal scale and they are very affordable. As far as Marantz goes they have an awesome product but affordability is not a priority of Marantz. You should go with an entry level Yamaha, Denon, or Onkyo which will give you more bang for your buck. For recievers I would go to Best Buy and shop for an open box item and you should save atleast 300 on a 750 dollar reciever and they have the same warranty as the unopened items. After Christmas there should be a surplus of these. And, Best Buy does negotiate so always do so.
  11. Has anyone mentioned how much better their system sounds after speaker wire breakin? If not let me be the first. My system sounds 100% better after my new $30 a foot speaker wire has had time to break itself in!!!!
  12. It is well understood. I am not one for travel. I am content to sit home and play with toys. So, she gets vacations, and I get speakers. And we both get to enjoy them.
  13. Yeah, an amp is in the planning and so is Rf-83s, but I am closing on a house in 5 days and getting married in 6 weeks. I am a full-time student as is my fiance. So, once we are done with school we can afford all that. She's in the physicians assistant program and I am getting my associates in massage therapy. I am already a Journeyman electrician so money will not be a problem then. Right now I am blessed to have what I do and be able to supply electricity to it.[]
  14. We have plasmas at my work and after a year and a half Id say maybe 25% have pixel issues. As far as size goes the new rear profections are as small as alot of Lcds. Thats what surprised me. They are maybe 16 inches deep and are the same size as Plasmas in other dimensions. Im still shopping and comparing. I wont be making my decision till after Christmas because I refuse to step foot in a store this time of year. I have zero tolerance for idiots and they are everywhere right now.
  15. I have been trying to decide on a tv lately and after pricing them I am considering buying a 1080p rear projection tv. This decision is based mostly on price. I can get a nice Samsung or Sony with a 57" screen for about $2000 dollars. I understand I occasionally have to replace the bulbs, but in 4 years I plan on stepping up to a projecter so I am not really concerned with the replacing of bulbs. I am just really tired of watching movies on my 21" symphonic. What's your opinion in this matter? I have always heard complaints about rear projection but it seems like the best bang for the buck.
  16. I have the rf-82s for reason of price. I sit about 10 ft away and I have no problem hearing what I am listening to by any means. I have auditioned the 83s and 63s and I plan on upgrading to 83s soon. But, let me say the reason is I have no respect for my hearing. I listen to alot of music and the louder the better. At 10ft. away the 83s will double as a hair dryer. I auditioned the rf-7 and the rf-83 recently because if I liked the rf-7 I was going to buy them before they were no longer available new. The 83s mid range is IMO far superior to the rf-7. So, I have decided to wait and purchase the 83s once I am done with school. But, keep in mind as far as 110 rms goes, I have a yamaha receiver that is rated 110rms and rf-82s and my neighbors 3 doors down complain(I live in a house), I can crank it out with great clarity far beyond what anyone can stand for more than my 15 seconds of showing off my system in my 11ft by 17ft. room. But, as the saying goes....Bigger is Better!!!!
  17. Heres the facts about isolated grounds. Isolated grounds(orange plugs in hospitals) are grounded straight back to the panel. Henceforth, if you are using conduit the plug is not grounded to the conduit. The conduit is grounded also but it is seperate. That way in order for the device to actually make the circuit breaker pop there must be a ground fault with the actual device and not just a ground fault somewhere else in the system. You can have one ground wire for as many circuits as are in the pipe usually. Which means any circuit using that ground could cause interferance with the circuit. The last thing you want is a janitor using a vacumn and blowing the circuits that are shared with life support. You can use one neutral for two circuits on a single phase panel and one neutral for 3 circuits on a 3 phase panel. The easiest way to do this in a residential setting is to run a 12/3 to your plug. Use the black and white for the power and neutral, and the green for the normal ground and then use the red wire for the iso ground. Just make sure you tape the red wire with some green tape out of kindness for the next guy that comes along and has to figure out what you did. So use the iso ground just for the plug that the device is plugging into and if you want to ground and equipment racks or outlet boxes just use the green ground. As far as cost. You are probally looking at 200 if you have a company come out and do it, or if you have a friend that can do it you are looking at 50 bucks.
  18. I cant wait for a true 7.1 to come out. I love the back surrounds.
  19. Welcome to the forum and what my fiance calls the Klipsch cult.
  20. Not knowing what kind of shape your in its hard to recommend what to use. But, if your more than 75 pounds over weight I dont recommend a treadmill. I would suggest the bike. Its much friendlier in the joint department. Slowly work up to a treadmill. As far as weights go start slow. It takes up to 6 months for your body to learn how to properly repair itself. So, little is best. Always remember that lifting weights dont build muscle: its the actual healing that does so give yourself plenty of recovery time. I have the opposite problem. I am 6'2" and my normal weight is about 160. If I skip breakfast I lose 5 pounds. Ive managed to build to 205, although due to a neck injury I have lost 10 pounds and havent been in the gym for about 2 months(not workout related injury). I started out not being able to bench 135 pounds twice. After 5 years(yes 5 years) I have been able to double my strengh. My first 6 months I saw no real improvement, but after a year I couldnt believe the results. So, be patient and persistent.
  21. A true forum member.....On vacation and still spending time with us...God Bless Ya!!!!
  22. I happen to work out about 4 times a week and have tried many different things and when it comes down to ease of use, getting results, and price.....free weights win in every category. You will never hear any person who is excellent shape say they used a bowflex to get there. Bowflexs are expensive dust collectors.
  23. Hey Picky, Sorry its taken so long for me to get on the forum and say thanks for having me and my lady. But, thank-you. I had a real good time and enjoyed the theater. We will definitly have to do it again sometime. I hated having to leave and after we got home her sister called and cancelled. I was less than happy. Thanks again and it was a real nice meeting everyone. Mike
  24. I like my 7.1 when it is a discrete 6.1. I can notice the difference and in a good movie it is very noticable. But, like Jay said it is noise behind you. Here is a link to a complete list of 6.1 movies.... http://www.spannerworks.net/reference/10_9a.asp Its a complete listing.
