  1. Olaf: Thanks...you beat me to the suggestion. Here's another forum you all can discuss your political views in (left to right): www.alexiaworld.com/forums/ When you're ready to debate about audio, c'mon back! (hint, hint) PhilH
  2. eglinski: Have you seen the Alice Cooper concert DVD recorded in London a couple years ago?..does many of his classics. An average 5.1 mix and sound, but it's fun! PhilH
  3. All great options here discussed. I just want to add that if you do decide to use SS surrounds, their vertical radiation pattern is 60 degrees, so doug's mounting option would be best for you there...mounting them on the wall you would have to put them too high to hit their sound pattern.. PhilH
  4. DrPyro: As far as protection from the negative elements of massive dirt and dust, that is a tough one. All three of the SA's are the same that way-grills covering otherwise exposed drivers and dual ports on the front. I believe all brands will be the same here, excluding models without ports that will allow less (or no) dirt to accumulate inside the cabinets. As far as efficiency goes, you can see all on our webpage at www.klipsch.com by clicking "Home Audio" and "Synergy Series" "Outdoors". Hit "Comparison Shop" and everything is laid out side by side. For your area of coverage, the SA-3's would be the recommendation. PhilH
  5. To set the record straight, I do not agree with ANYONE slamming ANYONE personally. I should have not just targeted Forresthump in that post, because there have been others who have started their own blasts and others who have blasted back (most of who I have addressed). Just trying to keep some peace here gang... PhilH
  6. Enormous Man: There are several variables here (what else is new?)regarding your question and your own experience with your system in general. First off, it seems that the enjoyment of music through 5 speakers is not only determined by the type of speakers you have, but by the type of receiver you have. GENERALLY (but YOUR ears are the final say)many surround receivers simply tackle 5 channel music derived from a 2 channel source by adding echo and time delay that, many times, sounds unnatural. Examples of these are settings such as "Jazz Club" or "Disco" or something of the like. Many on this forum (including myself) never use those settings, preferring the natural sound of 2 channel music played through 2 speakers only. Exceptions for people like us with these feelings are, for example, a setting available on Denon and other receivers called "5 Channel Stereo". That being said, the other variable here is the speakers in question. Klipsch speakers have a very different sound than many others, including Polk and vice versa. For most people, the combined sounds of two different types (brands) of speakers in a system can have a negative listening effect for both music and, especially, Home Theatre. It is always recommended that, at least, the 3 front channels have the same midrange and high frequency driver (same brand and matching models) and the rear channels be as close as possible (same brand, some different models possibly). Otherwise, differences in dynamics, frequency response, radiation patterns, etc. between the speakers can cause you to "listen to" and notice the speakers only instead of enjoying the music and Home Theatre sounds eminating from them. 7. Forrestthump: I'm not sure who dirtied your cornflakes lately, but the personal attacks are NOT needed here. I'm all for debate (heck, that's what makes this forum fun) but it seems your debating has turned into plain mudslinging, and that is starting an ugly trend. You harp on the ears for not presenting specs to back his claims, but I have not seen any from you in your tirades either. Settle down, listen to some music and LIGHTEN UP! PhilH
  8. Big Ben: I have a pair of SA-2's mounted in an enclosed "Florida Room" housing a hot tub. The difference between them and the SA-3's is the 3's larger woofer. Four of those babies should sound great in your area! PhilH
  9. Disco Stu: I must admit, I appreciate disco much more today than I did during its heyday...especially when you compare it to the Top40 wasteland that is out there today. PhilH
  10. KAiN64: All's well with the RSW-10. Apparently you clicked on it when it's page was being changed from "available early November" to "now shipping". All 3 RSW's are officially on the market! PhilH
  11. mcqueene: As far as your questions in "Other Notes" I think I see what you are asking (??) Our WDST surrounds don't necessarily rely on bouncing sound off of walls to create ambience. Bipolar and Dipolar surrounds rely on walls much more to create ambience, that is why their placement is much more crucial to get the desired effect. The two horns on the WDST's radiating at 90 degrees each, combine to provide 180 degrees of coverage, whether they are mounted on walls or sitting on stands on either side of your listening area. They should work well in your situation. When you demo them, try to bring a DVD that has good rear effects, such as The Matrix or "Hell Freezes Over" by the Eagles (for audience ambience) and see what you think. PhilH
  12. W: The RS-7's would sound stellar with your system for Home Theatre material... PhilH
  13. Thank you Gil my friend for the post! I want to extend to all of you from us at Klipsch a very happy Thanksgiving! I know the time we all spend with family this year will have a special meaning, perhaps that extra level of comfort we all need in these changing times. Please try to remember those who are not as fortunate as we are this season, and continue to support those efforts to make those people feel a little better during the holiday season. PhilH
  14. eteller: Welcome to the Klipsch Bulletin Board! Stay away from the ArmourAll (or anything else) on the surrounds other then water to clean them. Makes the rubber look real sharp but eventually deteoriates it, leading to negative effects in regards to cone excursion. PhilH
  15. shimband: An SCW-1 would match very well... PhilH
  16. mcqueene: I have not heard a KSF-C5 with Heresy II's, but it looks like it might be OK. The best test is to find a scence like a car going from left to right on the screen with the sound following it left to right. Does it sound natural or does the sound change at all as it hits the middle? WDST surrounds will give you more ambience with 2 horns on each speaker radiating 180 degrees (horizontally) each vs. 1 horn radiating 90 degrees each on the SB-2's. A better effect in many cases. PhilH
  17. Ok gang, we are not closing Hope, fortunately that rumor was put to rest... by the recent announcement of the renovation and addition to the facilities. AND, K-HORNS, BELLES and LaSCALAS WILL BE BACK (I think BobG has mentioned this a few times...right?) We just have not finalized anything enough to give you a date yet (Heresy II's have not been affected and have remained in production this whole time). Hey, I don't blame you for wondering and wondering and wondering (and speculating and complaining)..it has been longer than any of us has wanted. This Christmas?... I can tell you no on that unfortunately. We'll let you know when we get it all together... PhilH
  18. jfcarbel: Without the official Klipsch label with a valid serial number on the back of the speaker, you have no Klipsch warranty. Please click at the bottom right of this page where it says "unauthorized dealers" for our statement about Internet sellers like these. PhilH
  19. I still have yet to find anything worthwhile contributed to this forum by this DEAM, whoever you are. You need to make a positive contribution or move on... PhilH
  20. Raven: A decent speaker for the money but not a good match for your system....an RC-7 or another KLF-C7 would be much better for you. PhilH

    Sub Question

Hagood: boa12 is correct. In this scenario, bass will not be affected by the down-fire into the carpet, if it were high and mid-range frequencies, that would be another story...they would be absorbed. Sitting any of the KSW downfiring subs on a hard floor or flat surface will create the same basic sound. A change will occur the closer you place them in the corner of the room. PhilH
  22. darrylp: I'd leave your RS-3's as smalls and change your RC-7 to large on your receiver. PhilH
  23. dougdrake: Yea, we have to be pretty committed around here! PhilH
  24. KAiN64: Have I ever mentioned that I am a maladjusted orphan looking for a good home? PhilH
  25. Rookie101: The system you mentioned should be quite astounding. The only thing I would mention is that using RF-7's as surrounds for HT may not give you the wide ambience you desire for the rear channels. How about 5 RF-7's for 5-channel music and a set of RS-7's for side surrounds? BTW, the RF-7's have our best shielding to date of any speaker we have produced. PhilH
