  1. Thanks Trey. Can I rename it under my screen name TKDAmerica (Note: not TDK [])
  2. I posted my pictures but I don't know if I did it right. Can we make a separate "Album" for each screen name?[:^)]
  3. That's to assume that the owner gives a crap what damon thinks. I am guessing from these threads that damon is on the submissive end of a contract written from the contractors (ad) vantage point. Too bad. "... interests and rights of some individuals take precedence over the interests and rights of others." -AR Especially when it comes to lessons learned by signing contracts (not that you had a choice)--Good luck. {edit: I will be an optimist and predict you will be in March 3rd []}
  4. I don't know if this will change any of your opinions--If I am not mistaken, the original poster has 4 RF-7's. {edit: then again it could be a rhetorical question []}
  5. My limited expertise stops at the outside of the speaker. If it is an internal problem and you see the wires touching it may be a customer service situation. If you are the original owner, they have a 5 year warranty. If they aren't under warranty maybe electrical tape could suffice (wait and let someone else chime in). Good luck on getting it fixed.
  6. If I am understanding you right, don't strip the wire down so far (i.e., 1/4") and make sure it is fully inserted in the hole. Do you see the bare wires touching?
  7. I'm surprised you haven't heard of it. [] It's when you hire a professional to find that perfect center channel to match your other Klipsch speakers. Then again, it could be something kinky.[]
  8. My RSW-12 and 15's are rear firing. My RSW-12 is on the side wall in front of me. My RSW -15 is on the rear wall 4" from the corner and 8" from the wall.
  9. Welcome to the forum Nathometheatre. [] I have a few questions regarding your set up and observations: 1) Where in the DFW area were you able to audition the RF-7's and RB-75's together? 2) Why wouldn't you want to set the crossover in the Denon and leave the LFE set to disable on the RSW? How does setting the crossover curve the way you described make it "tighter." It also would seem that setting your LFE the way you described could be limiting your LFE signal to the sub. {FWIW, that 625 watts/2400 RMS watts of power really adds to the thump of LFE material, IMO []} 3) Where do you sit in comparison to your rear surrounds (RB-25's)? They don't appear to be on your rear wall and are facing inward. 4) Did BI-wiring your front 3 speakers really make a difference? Insofar as your salespersons observations comparing the RF-7's with the RB-75's and cost justification -- I have the RB-75's serving as mains in my bedroom HT and it sounds GREAT--But in no way would I consider the RB-75's in the same category as the RF-7's. I realize that we all hear things differently, but in a side by side comparison and owning both, I am surprised that there wasn't much of a difference to you and your friends. It makes me wonder what was going on behind the curtain. []
  10. Welcome to the forum watchdog. I have not had the pleasure of hearing the RP-5's and can't comment on if what you are considering would work or not. I have the RSW-12 in front and the RSW -15 behind me and I can't imagine doing away with either one. I toyed with just having one or the other but life's too short for compromise. [] Go for it!
  11. Welcome to the forum Wolter. Your English is better than my Dutch.[] If you made a pair of speakers that goes down to 25 Hz and are planning on making 3 more for a 5 channel system--then I don't know if you would need a sub. What Klipsch model are you looking at? What is the power rating of the onkyo? I would think a powered sub could take some of the strain off your amp and be beneficial. That being said there are people on this forum who have built their own sub and could better help you. If it was me, I would wait until you got the other 3 speakers made and purchased the receiver before buying a sub. BTW: I have been frequent traveler to the Netherlands and love visiting your country. []
  12. This appears to be the culprit. It sounds like you have a loose wire somewhere or bare speaker wires touching each other would be my guess. Check the connections to your amp and to the speaker. If that doesn't rectify the problem make sure when you opened up the cabinet that you don't have the positive and negative wires touching. Good Luck.
  13. Without a doubt another pair of RF-7's-- for Music and Movies. I have both the RS-7's and RF-3's that I use as side surrounds. If I could only have one of them, I would opt for the RF-3's. I guess there are situations where the RS-7's would work better, but that would be because you couldn't fit the RF's. If you truly are a "HTAddict," using a pair of towers as side surrounds is ecstasy. The only reasons I don't have the RF-7 towers as side surrounds is because they wouldn't fit and I sit 4-6 ft from my surrounds.If you have a similar situation look at the RF-5's or the RB-75 bookshelf speakers. Good luck. []
  14. Welcome to the forum Wish4NSX. [] If you go up to the "search" feature in upper right corner and put in the word feet you may get what you are looking for. I did and got several pages. I own the RF-7's in a multichannel configuration and have not had the urge to upgrade for over 2 years. []
  15. Hey Rocko, Welcome to the forum. The Klipsch THX line are nice speakers and have sounded really good in the three Home Theaters I have heard them in. That being said I prefer my Reference HT over those systems (posted below). I have the Denon AVR 4802 R and love the receiver. The ability to connect 2 sets of side surrounds is really a cool feature. I admit I haven't auditioned the THX line in my house, but If I were you I would get back your old system and add another pair of RF-7 towers to use as A surrounds along with your RS-7's as B's surrounds and get a pair of RB-75's as rears in a 9.1 setup. I don't know how a single KW-120 compares to a RSW-15, but the later sure is sweet. []
  16. Given the exchange rate I don't think you are going to find them cheaper in Europe {edt: unless you were talking about getting them cheaper in Germany vs Holland} . There have been several posts recently that had European links with prices and they seem to compare euro/$$ on a 1 to 1 basis instead of exchange rate. Evidently if you want to see the new Premier line you WILL have to go overseas first (or already be there) []. I think they are supposed to be released there after the first of the year. BTW, Are you an American living in the Netherlands or are you Dutch, if you don't mind me asking. []
  17. FYI: There are currently several 1080p DLP models out there (Mitsubishis and samsung) and the prices are REALLY coming down. I got cooked when I went into the Magnolia HIFI, in my local Bestbuy, and asked a salesperson, "Do you have any 1080p displays?" The young lady said "most of them here are 1080p." I exclaimed (with authority in my voice) that "No, they are 1080i or 720p." She capitulated and brought over a more senior person who in fact said "No sir--in this room the majority of the DLP's are 1080p" and proceeded to show me the error of my ways. [:$] The prices are coming down. The Mitsubishi 73 inch, 1080p, DLP was $5500. []
  18. I did express to Dean that I listen to multichannel, pretty much exclusively, and I agree with Parrot on how he characterized the conversation. I also expressed to Dean that I was ecstatic about my system, but (as anyone who hangs out here for any length of time and own RF-7's) was curious about Dean's crossovers. It was nice meeting both fellows and I appreciate the advice I got from them and others. []
  19. I posted earlier that I am pretty much a multichannel guy, but on Dragonfyrs recommendation I picked up 3 of her CD's. I agree that "Surfacing," and "Afterglow" are excellent, but I definitely think the songs on the "fumbling towards ecstasy," come across better live on the "Afterglow" DVD. I still prefer watching her sing ALL of her songs than just listening to her and "Afterglow live" seems to never get old. [] I also purchased her VH1, "Storytellers" DVD for $6.99 at Bestbuy--well worth the cost, but not as good as the "Afterglow" DVD. A while back I picked up "A life in Music," on DVD but it was more of a biography that was interesting, but something I wouldn't buy for the music. Thanks for the recommendations []
  20. I believe they are half as expensive as the RF-7's and are excellent for Home Theater. I recommend them for the price ahead of the RB-35's which have the same footprint but not the same innards. The RB-5's (discontinued) are the best bang for your buck insofar as bookshelf speakers are concerned, if you can find a pair. []
  21. I have a pair that I am using as mains in my bedroom ht and they sound excellent. I prefer them over the Heresies that I have heard. I don't however think they compare to the RF-7's, IMO. I also have a pair of RB-75's that I use as rear surrounds in my main HT (posted below). I tried them as side surrounds along with my RF-3's but I preferred the RF-3 towers in that location and moved the RB-75's to the back. Oops. I see I have ventured into the 2 channel section again--My bad [:$]
  22. I saw that today at Bestbuy. I wished I would have caught it the first week it came out. It was a little too costly and given the fact I already have 3 of their other concert DVD's and the "Tommy" DVD-A, I couldn't justify the expense. Thanks for posting. Do you have any other opinions after watching the other disks? I may consider it in next weeks budget. []
  23. I'm sure I didn't make the "Deans list." At least not the 10% one. [] I told him of my HT situation when I met him in Indy this year and he told me I probably wouldn't appreciate his crossovers. []
  24. My guess is that your receiver is not reading the "flag" to switch on the EX mode. Since DD-EX has a matrixed 6th channel anyway--I feel the results would be the same. I don't know that for certain but that would be my guess. The DTS-ES is an actual discrete channel (but I see you already know that [])
  25. Welcome to the forum Turpin. [] I don't know anything about inwall speakers but definitely get the RC-7 for your center. It will sound great with those Rf-5's.
