I've missed that like heck in Little Rock. ---------------- I bought my first stereo system from Jerry at Custom Audio in Little Rock almost 30 years ago. I went by there on my last trip back and spoke with Mike Callahan who was very nice and helpful, even though he knew I wasn't going to purchase anything. Given the fact they are mentioned in Mr. Klipsch biography and are 70 miles from the factory, I was surprised and disappointed that they didn't display ANY of the Heritage line. I am glad to see that they are up and running after the fire.

I'd like to compliment Klipsch for not only revealing upcoming releases to everyone who attended, but also giving them an opportunity of participating in the comparison. I think they have realised how lucky they are to have such a faithful following... and are trying to strengthen that bond by including us in the development of "new" products. Rob ---------------- I agree. That being said with the closing of Ultimate Electronics (Which has had to have a tremendous impact on Klipsch) I don't have a Klipsch dealer to demo speakers. Before their closing (ULTE) I still couldn't hear all of the speakers I was considering buying. The Pilgrimage was an excellent opportunity to do just that. I hope the distribution network of these new products makes it out here to the boonies of Dallas/Fort Worth so I can listen to them again before purchasing. Kudos to Trey for his post at the beginning of this thread. His honesty (or explanation) gave me a better understanding of my choice in the A/B test. {edit:I realize I have said this sentiment in every post in this thread, but it does explain the results of the test, at least for us newbies who don't wish to stay in that category and want to be informed testers!}

Afterward, and on this thread I was trying to convey my opinion of the outcome. I thought THAT was what this thread was about. Let's face it if Trey didn't convey what the flaw of the "Blind test" was, Several of us would have thought that "A" was hands down a better speaker {edit: and not just on that day}. Maybe I was the only one who was offended (slightly ) when you said "I think the TRUTH is..... your looking for a way to justify your choices."

I'm wondering if they would even be ideal for my room size and layout. Really curious how the RB75 sounds since I haven't heard that one yet. ---------------- I sit 9 ft away from my front speakers, and the RF-7's are 9 ft apart.
  5. I am sorry. I was being far too diplomatic. I just watched "The Aviator" on DVD and listened to Elton John's 'Yellow Brick Road," and REM's greatest hits on DVD-A. The difference between the RB-25's and the RF-7's (used with the RC-7) would be tantamount to the difference of being hit with a rolled up newspaper and being shot with a bazooka! If you don't want floor standing speakers, get the RB-75's (IMO, i.e., per Amy) Good luck with your decision.
  6. There is no better coffee (oh yeah, IMO) than Hawaiian Kona. My favorite over the counter, buy in the store coffee is "Douwe Egberts." Of course you have to go to Amsterdam to buy it.
  7. Not in an A/B situation. I like the Bass Management feature on the Denon's vs. the Mitsubishi. That being said, is it worth the extra cost for the budget minded--probably not. {edit: The Denon is a much better built (sturdier) machine}

If I was going to stay in this house for the rest of my life I would sell the La Scalas and go with the 20s. Xman ---------------- I love it! I get to brag on my KLF-20's and RF-7's all on the same page of Posts! I heard the 3 Lascallas up front with dual THX subs at the Pilgrimage. I am tempted to build a larger home theater because, as the kids like to say, 'It was the bomb." Nice set up Xman

  10. No Denon! What a drag. I also have a Mitsubishi Dvd 8050 that decodes DVD-A & SACD that I paid $180 for less than a year ago. I use it primarily for music and have had no problems with it. I also saw that Bestbuy put on sale a sony 5 disk Sacd player (no DVD) for $99. The reason I know this is that I paid $150 for the same unit 32 days ago. I bought it to use in a 2 channel set up, but haven't really played around with it enough to give a recommendation.
  11. I am not familiar with you exact speaker, but a good friend owns the KG-4's and has a Reference, RC-3 that he uses that sounds good. IMO, it would be a better option than the "phantom center" situation. If you could swing it, an RC-7 would sound sweet in your setup.

As edited I mistakenly thought the post was in the 2 channel section. I too am a fan of the RF-7 but I don't have the experience to claim their superiority over certain Heritage models in a side by side comparison.

I too own three of them--They are all in the garage and have been replaced by Denons In all seriousness I haven't heard the new Yamaha's. I own the Denon AVR-3805 and am quite pleased with it.

  17. I haven't heard them side by side, so I can't make a fair comparison. I own the RB-5's and RB-75's. They are both really good speakers, but if I found the RB-5's first and had access to a second pair, I may not have bought the 75's. Cost-to-Enjoyment ratio, I prefer the RB-5's. Are the RB-75's better speakers? Maybe, But not by a large margin.

Maybe we can build some sort of "Halfway House," in our neck of the woods and put several systems in it. Our families could have visitation.
  19. Sounds like an EXTREMELY nice set up Shade. I use RF-3's as side surrounds (along with RS-7's). I tried the RB-75's there but they didn't sound as good (They are now my rear speakers). I am a big fan of Towers (Klipsch) all of the way around for Home Theater. I have a small room so the RF-7's would be too big as side and rear speakers. Way to set the standard for HT!

  21. arthurs, WOW! I just saw your two channel set up. You are definitely "Joe upgrade." Any truth to the rumor that you were getting 2 more of those Dunlavy's and then posting on the" Home Theater" Thread?
  22. I have my KLF-20's, C-7, KSW-15, RS-3's, setup in a 1,600 sq. ft room and this system ROCKS! I would love to find a pair of KLF 30's, locally and move the KLF-20's to side surrounds. Put me on the list of Happy KLF-20 owners. Me, personally. I listen to Rock and Roll, but I have to admit I bought the "1812 Overture" just to hear how the canon blasts sounded. KABOOM
  23. The Denon AVR 5805 has been out about 4 months and the AVR 4806 just came out. I wish I could tell you when the upgrade to the AVR-3805 was coming, but my guess is the soonest will be at the end of this year, if not the beginning of next year. Just a guess...Maybe their Website has info.
  24. Well, It seems you have alot on your mind and I don't know if I can add anymore to this discussion. I will say in closing that in the Klipsch Line IMHO, bigger is better. I have no muddiness in dialog and I have extreme overkill in the speaker department (profile below). Comparatively speaking, if you are looking for "something that is awesome from 60-80hz and up," the RB-25 wouldn't fit the bill as well as the other speakers that I have mentioned. I would not recommend 3 RC-7 in the front because of the dispersion pattern of the design. If you heard them and like them then that is a moot point. If you are considering spending that kind of money and don't want floor standers I would recommend the RB-75's over the RB-35's. Keep in mind that all of these speakers are going to sound different in your home than in the showroom. Buy what you feel the most comfortable with and don't hesitate to take them back and get something else within the return policy period.
  25. Hey skonopa and Seadog It was great meeting you guys at the Pilgrimage! Jacksonbart, I was hoping you would have shown up. Insofar as Joe's comment. I wish I had a pair of KLF-30's to audition. I have a pair of KLF-20's that I use with a KLF C-7. I have to wonder how the perceived 3 way design of the anticipated "premier line" would compare? That legend set-up is awfully nice.
