Something tells me if "Bikini Destination," was 480i on DVD that a High Def. presentation of "Fifth Element," couldn't compete--Then again, it just may be me...

Jeez fellows!!!! I LOVE my HT and can't imagine it sounding any better. Then I see Sfogg & Frzninvt setups--I feel like I have been sent to the kiddy table at Thanksgiving.

If you are not watching Hogans Heroes in High Def you are truly missing out on something. I wish there were more programs in High Definition but the ones that are, have an incredible picture and are a work of art. Most of the networks prime-time broadcasts are in High Definition (although I don't watch much), as well as numerous sporting events. {Edit: Not to mention the 5.1 sound track that Klipsch fans can appreciate;-) The side benefit for those of us that made the plunge several years ago is that Widescreen DVD's upconverted to 480p look fabulous!

I spent 3 months looking at the Pioneer Elite's verses the Mitsubishi Diamonds and IMHO I made the right choice.

I saw Kiss live in Little Rock Arkansas when I was in high school. It was a great concert. The moment I remember most from that event was my friends and I couldn't wait for the boys to get on stage. Then along came a major babe from our school--with great excitement in her voice she said "can you believe we are going to see bob seager (opening act)! It still brings a chuckle to me today--Thanks for the recommendation on "unplugged," I will have to check it out. Right now I am watching Eric Clapton, "One more car -- One more Rider." An excellent concert whose Dolby Digital sound track sounds better than the DTS version, IMO. "Cocaine," will thump that subwoofer like it's supposed to be thumped; Billy Preston playing keyboards does a mean rendition of "Will it go round in circles?" Highly recommended for fans of Slow Hand.

I am a bass nut &I love my subwoofers. I have no opinion on your 2 choices. I am also not familiar with the SVS bp-10 you are looking at. They evidently make a quality product. What I would do is compare their Max output. My gut reaction is to get the RW-12 because of the larger woofer size, but that is pure speculation. IF the SVS is cheaper with slightly lower output--I would go to your salesperson and tell them you are leaning toward the SVS, because you want to stay within budget and is there anyway he can work a better deal on the RW-12--But that's just me.

Welcome to the Forum gotahavit1974. I use a pair of WDST RS-3's with my KLF-20's in my workout room and they sound great ( approx 1500 sq ft/10 ft ceiling)for music and HT as well. What's great about the WDST speakers are that they can sound good at either position. In a previous thread I wrote this and it may be helpful to you: "I have RB-75's in my Bedroom paired with RS-3's as surrounds. I am real pleased with the sound. The WDST's are on the side walls, in the corner, facing the head of the bed. For watching movies in bed, this set up is perfect. For SACDS/DVD-A's which we listen to while we are moving about doing chores. We are on the other end of the room where one, of each of the RS-3's horns are pointed in our direction. Elton Rocks during laundry A good sonic situation in THIS 5.1 set up, and where a WDST speaker works better. " {edit: In my bedroom I also have the Denon 3805 and in the workout room I use the Denon 3803--Both killer machines IMHO

What I think he meant by "right 50 watts," was the same thing I was saying: "I feel like it would, depending how accurate the 50 rms rating is..."

It's all about controlling content and the hassles over what the standards should be. The MegaCorps are so afraid someone will keep them from making one more dollar that they can't even get the technology out there in the first place. It's like renewable energy.......there will be no alternatives to gasoline until the MegaCorps figure out how to control and profit from those alternatives. I call that a GREAT deal! I don't have friends like that. Now what you need to find is another pair of mismatched RF-3's and an RC-3 and you will be set!

I am no expert in this matter, but I think the only difference was that the RF-3 II has Monster cable and the RF-3 doesn't. Shouldn't be any sonic difference.IMO if a friend GAVE them to you they will work fine. That is the only light I can shread

Allan, Thanks for sharing your experience! I am a museum/Historic place junkie and your trip brings a tear to my eye. There is no better way to spend time than to travel and your trip description has me wanting to add some more frequent flyer miles! I haven't spent enough time in Italy or Greece. Every time my wife and I were going in that direction politics and international affairs have curbed the trip and we went to Central &Western Europe instead. My only time in Venice was 20 years ago and it was at the end of a 5 week solitary trip where I met some girls in Switzerland. I tried to stick to my original Itinerary. I took a train from Zurich to Nice, France. I put my backpack in a locker at the train station and laid out on Blue Beach (a topless beach where the majority of the people I saw shouldn't have been topless;-) for the day and took a night train from there to Venice. Once in Venice, all I could think about were those girls I met in Switzerland. I had 3 days left before my plane flew out of Frankfurt, Germany--I raced out of Venice and spent my last day in Zurich. That trip changed my life. What was going to be a once in a lifetime experience, turned out to be an obsession--I've gone 16 times since then. The irony is that once I started my Klipsch/Home Theater experience 5 years ago, we've only been to Europe 3 times and it's been hard to leave the house.

Bikendad, Welcome to the forum. If you hang around you will get alot of good advice along with alot of opinions I own several Denon Receivers and I am real happy with mine. The best bang for the buck is the Denon 3805 for around $1000.00. If you have searched the recent threads on this forum, you will find my opinion and experiences along with other people who are happy with what they own. The 2805 seems to be a good choice, as well. Whatever your initial decision is, make sure you can take it back within 30 days if you don't like it and exchange it. It's a hassle at first, but after you get it to sound like you want it--there is no need to upgrade unless you get the bug. Congratulations on choosing the Klipsch over the Boston Acoustics. IMO they aren't even in the same league when it comes to home theater, and even more apparent when it comes to music.

My father-in-law, who was a French teacher several years back, wanted to watch "Swimming Pool." Out of all of my movies, this is the one he had heard about and zeroed in on. I had to admit, I didn't really try and talk him out of it. I couldn't help but laugh to myself as the racy scenes came on. My wife kept nudging me (she hadn't seen the movie) as I quietly was pseudo apolgetic. Oh well. I got to pick the next movie

That is how multichannel folks say you are supposed to do it. However, in my room I use RF-3 towers for surround duty on music. They are positioned 10 in off the floor (to keep tweeters at ear level and the same height as my RF-7's) directly to each side (90 degrees) of my seated position. I then have the RB-75's as my rear surrounds (not in use for SACD/DVD-A) laying on their side with the horns angled slightly toward my ears. PICS on page 20 of "show me" thread.

Fish, Those RB-5's are a heck of a speaker for their size. I picked up a pair to use as rears in my bedroom in a 7.1 set up and they were WAY to much. I wish I would have found them before I picked up the RB-75's to use in my main HT as rear surrounds. I got them for half price--now they are sitting on the floor in my spare bedroom until I can work them in somewhere--and I will.

pyroponic, Now you know why in one of your previous threads I asked why you didn't choose the RF-7's right off the bat. I will stick up for the RB-75's though. I have a pair I am using in my bedroom and they sound great! I also have a pair that I am using as rear surrounds (the jury is still out if THAT was money well spent;-) The question to ask is, what BOOKSHELF speakers stand up to the RB-75's? Sometime this week I am going to the High $$$$ stores and listen to the KEF's and Def Tech's Bookshelf Speakers to see how they stack up. I also am going to A/B the RB-75's and the RB-35's to see how they compare to each other. Congratulations on the upgrade.

"3x brighter," seems pretty exact. I have heard some people don't like the sound of Klipsch speakers. I've never met one in person (who has heard my speakers)--but they must be out there. The last Yamaha I owned was the RXV-800 and it was "bright," at higher volumes in a larger room. I have heard others say that the newer Yammi's aren't as bright. I switched to Denon receivers (4802R/3805/3803) and I love the way they sound with my Reference and Legend line. If you took the speakers home and didn't like them that's one thing--If you were listening in the store there are alot of variables to consider. I watch ALOT of movies and concert videos and listen to DVD-A's/SACD's as well. IMHO there is nothing that comes close to my listening pleasure at twice the cost. If you have found the "perfect match," Then my words are moot

I am happy with my Denon 3805. There are alot of bells and whistles though. I like being able to use 2 sets of side surrounds (A, for music both for movies). I saw an option off a link from the AVS forum where you can BI-amp your front speakers using the rear surround channels, from the "Zone 2" mode. If you are interested I will try and find that link.

I am watching "one night only! Rod Stewart, Live at Royal Albert Hall." Very good picture quality. It's the first time I've seen Rod in a while. At first I thought the audio wasn't going to be too good, and in fact it may not be, but the experience watching it brings back memories (although I'm not fond of the "big band stuff" in the middle). I think it gets better as it goes along (or the Belhavens are enhancing the experience;-). Arthurs--Where did you get "David Gilmore live?"
