Every time I see this guys name it reminds me of discussions we had here on the open forum and ironically we couldn't discuss given the misinformation being given at the time. I've enjoyed the latest discussions on this thread so I went back to the first page to see how it started... Ha! I also have a personal true story: lightening struck a tree close to our house and we lost our DirectTv, AVR, and our rear Klipsch RSW-15 sub. It happened the evening of the 2004 Election and I hadta think it was a message from God that I spent too much time following current events on TV--we haven't gotten cable or renewed since. Lol! {Note: It also could've been a sign that I was spending too much time on the Klipsch Forum given how they handled repairing my RSW amp, but Amy smoothed that over.} If he would only not exhale, but then we would have never gotten the Internet. Okay. Now THIS was funny, but...

Ha! Sorry but I got a chuckle outta this line...
  3. We'll, you may end up being a little late because that time and went without it catching on. Now it appears the best disks are pretty expensive on the used market and they're not making them anymore. What a drag! I started watching a ton of movies and then really liking Concert videos... Then in the early 2000s I heard my first remake of Aerosmith's "Toys in the attic" on SACD and around 60 disks later that format along with DVD-A is my primary material on a regular basis. I haven't really listened to 2-channel since.
  4. Ha! I went through Yamaha and Pioneer AVRs before you even joined the Forum before switching to Denon. 😎
  5. This is the craziest thing I've read online today. 😮 Denon AVRs work GREAT with Klipsch speakers! That is what I've used for the last 25 years. 😊
  6. I totally agree! We all agree on the importance of a good Center, but where we part company is on the approach. If I had to mix-n-match speakers instead of trying to purchase a cohesive front sound stage and I had to make that choice I probably would agree. Dunno that I would use 2 speakers playing the exact same material because of lobing issues. I also think putting less capable Mains on top of a dual center setup would would also mess with panning across the front. Again, if he's happy, GREAT! Do I agree about getting the best center possible? YES! Do I think I'm doing it "wrong"(as the title suggests)? NO. If I could put an RF-7 at center, would I run less capable bookshelf speakers as mains? NO.
  7. We may be saying the same thing if we are saying you want a center channel to keep up with your mains. Otoh, a mismatched front sound stage would really be apparent in panning and multichannel music however. I have also been surprised how many concert videos don't use the center as much as you'd think. Well...I suggest if your "center channel towers above all other channels," then you have a mismatched system. They should blend so well that when the lights are off you are enveloped in the material and not like focusing on speakers. Getting back to square one--most people can't place a large center where they want and here lies the compromise. Sure. The reason I was going to disengage from his thread was because he's happy. If he's happy, I'm happy! 😁 Otoh, looking at his setup, if someone wanted to raise their monitor that high, run 2 towers as center, and put small bookshelf speakers as mains on top of them, I'd consider a 2nd opinion on where to spend their money.

Fwiw, you know (more than likely) what you indulge in that is bad for you and I'd start cutting/eliminating that. Then consider trying to burn more calories than you are now. To keep you honest weigh yourself every day and eat more fruit and vegetables. 😊 That's my take for those that don't have other issues which may influence what you can eat verses what you want to consume...Good luck!
  9. Changed my mind on posting the link to the House subcommittee looking into a UFO Conspiracy from a couple of days ago.
  10. I gotta admit I want NASA keeping up with this. https://time.com/6261829/asteroid-headed-toward-earth/
  11. No doubt that Palladium sounds good. 😊 Fwiw, I listen to alot of multichannel music and action movies on occasion so our whole system gets a workout.
  12. Oops. Nevermind. I missed you were using 2 towers as Centers and if you are happy with that setup then you don't need my further opinion.
  13. Fwiw, I highly recommend it or your listening sessions at the dinner table (or bedroom 😮) won't be as fun as in the listening room...At least that's the case in our home. 🤓
  14. I used to know, but forgot what you're using for a Center channel? Fwiw, I agree about the Sub being important, but I'd still would like to know what @rebuyis using for Center and Mains? And if he disconnected the Mains and checked out material with ONLY the Center up front? 🤔
  15. Well....I think we can agree to purchase a center that can keep up with your mains while staying within a realistic budget for the whole system. Fwiw, if your Mains are "weak" then you also are compromising your Home Theater.
  16. Can't a dominant center also show the weakness of your other speakers? Fwiw, most Home Theaters seem to be limited by the size of their center channel. What is your setup?

Ha! 😁 I visit the place when I get bored, although for 15 years or so seemed to be here constantly having interesting conversations with friends. Glad to see you are doing well and still contemplating life. Uh-oh... 😎 I really think diet and exercise is the key to not taking so many drugs and agree with you about alcohol. Some of the other things I'd like to debate and discuss, but life's too short and I'm trying to get friends and family to consider other religious and political opinions on Facebook...Lol and gotta admit having as much success there as I did here, so yet one more reason not to engage.
  19. No. If you listen to 2-channel music then you want the best mains that will fit into your room. If you listen to multichannel music then you definitely want larger speakers to reproduce this material. The problem with movies is that usually folks can't use a large speaker channel because of placement issues. So in the latter two scenarios Bass Management comes into play. With the smaller center/surrounds being able to benefit from the subwoofer by selecting a crossover point and taking some pressure off your AVR you can use more of it's power to run higher to run speakers and still have a well-balanced and immersive experience. Fwiw, I have RF-7s/RC-7 up front and they blend seamlessly. That's my take.

    Jokes?

Probably not as funny in Japan and I gather Barbie has disturbed some Americans...Dunno.
  21. Hey @oldtimer--Hope you are doing well, enjoying your Klipsch speakers, and living life to the fullest! Are there any of your wonderful Hot Sauces on the horizon? Thanks. {Note: No emojis outta respect.}
  22. Welcome to the Forum, @sn1ck3rz You may want to try and find some simple wooden footstools if you only need them up about a foot or so. Fwiw, I've done that with RF-3s as side surrounds and they worked great!
