I bet it does with those hardwood floors and no wall treatments! Good point! I've never messed around with room treatments. Where is a good place to start?

After many hours of listening I have a couple of impressions. The 3490 is spectacular at low and moderate listening levels. I am able to listen at much more reasonable volumes (according to the wife) and really enjoy the music. The bass is very nice while the mids and highs are silky smooth. It really lets the LaScalas shine. The balance is perfect in my opinion. The 3490 will crank huge volume but does get a bit bright. However if I go outside with the house closed up it sounds amazing. HaHa.

24,000 for me. I guess I should read more fiction. I hate fiction.

I was going to wait awhile before posting about the sound upgrade. Yes, there is an improvement. It is subtle but definite in the bass guitar reproduction. Hard to say exactly what but it seems like the bass guitar has better separation from the rest on the music. If that makes any sense. I would say the separation is more on par with the midrange now. One disclaimer though, I recently changed receivers to an HK 3490. I only had about five hours of listening before adding the feet. I did notice immediately after adding the feet however.

Thanks for the heads up. I think these should do fine. They are only 1" but are very solid. I opened a pack and checked them out before I bought them. When I screwed them on, they would not distort in shape when tightening very tight.

I picked up some door bumpers from Home Depot to use as feet on my LaScalas. I had added some felt pads a couple of years ago but wanted something a little less able to slide. My wife likes to move my speakers a bit and doesn't understand why they need to be toed in. She tells me "those speakers are big enough that you don't need to turn them to hear". Anyway this may make her less inclined to move them. [6]

The HK 3490 arrived today! I am very pleased with the sound so far. I have only listened to vinyl so far, Jethro Tull- Living in the Past and David Gilmore. The phono section on this is 10 times better than what I was using before. I am glad I decided not to sell my turntable. []

I really enjoyed the show this year. Much better than I expected it to be. What say you guys?

After scouring the web and reading pages of owner reviews I pulled the trigger on a brand new HK 3490. I'm hoping this matches well with my LaScala's. Any experience or thoughts?

I just bought a Pioneer Elite VSX-49 for fifty bucks. Picking it up Friday. Sounds decent to me. What do you guys think?
