  1. we were told today that nothing is changing...in fact we are looking to move more product to be built in Hope.
  2. Larry, The local Radio station that plays classical may have something they would bring for us to use. I also know that there is a pip organ builder here in Indy and of a church that has a organ that has close to that 32' pipe. I just hope we get to hold the pilgrimage...there has been no talk yet. I am sure with all that is going on, it is not on the radar.
  3. HAD a VISIT with Mom...and a co-worker with me...
  4. I pefer the stacked...they don't move due to the rubber feet and 76lbs. I tell everyone to not use the THX setting...it takes 3 volts in to get the max of 66 volts in THX mode...(Red lights on) it only takes 0.75 V to get the same out in NON-Thx mode (green lights) I also do not like the "auto setup" in most if not all receivers. They tend to "re-EQ" the system and for the most part I don't like that. I have mine right and left with my mains on top of each sub just becaues I had no way to mount the mains...
  5. For the record...PWK sold the company 3 times...Once in the 70's, the pro side sold in the mid 80's and then again in 1989. We do have the k-77, k-55 and k-33 in stock for the NEW product. it can be use in the old product for the most part but only as a replacement. Folks have been building the own "klipsch" speakers for years...heck the company had to start a law suit years ago against Speakerlab for doing just that. As for new vs. old...have you heard the LS II? I have owned many pairs of LS and a pr of LS II...the LSII sounds better. (IMO) The same could be said for the other products in that line. Oh yea...PWK was there and involved when the shorthorn, Rebel, Forte, Chorus and others were built...KG, Tangent...so yes, Paul understood that the Khorn, as good as it is, is not the speaker for everyone...True, any company that does not move forward fails. As for changing PWK's products...the only time Paul became mad at me was when I ask about adding stuff to be back of the K-400 horn to "stop the ring" for AL K. He got so mad that he started to toss me out of his house. Mrs. VK stopped him, reminding him I was asking the question for someone else. I have tried to stop the rebuilding of Klipsch product for as long as I have been with the co. As a company, we have tried to go out of our way to make all our customers to feel like family. Many of you on here know where many of us live and have our presional numbers. When it comes down to it, people are getting up set about a speaker. In the real world, speakers don't amount to much. The people here on the forum and that work for this company are what matter. No matter who owns the stock and writes the checks we should all remember the people invloved and continue to count each other as friends. Even if we all loose our place here, it will not kill us...we will pick ourselves up and move on. I see none of us taking a nose dive off the roof over this. Past all that, there should be some great chances to get into product lines that the company now has not been able to break into. Maybe your next high end car will have Klipsch audio system in it...or your next MP3 player comes with Klipsch headphones... The one thing you can count on is that if it has the Klipsch name on it, the people here will do all we can to up hold that name. Will the people that own the company make money off this deal, I sure hope so! IF not why sale or why ever buy the company in the first place. PWK turned his hobby into a business. Speakers were easy for Paul, putting up with bullshit was not.
  6. Does anyone out there have contacts in Spain that could help buy some product for a friend? iPod (230V) and Klipsch SXT
  7. OK enough! The product make in Hope will continue to be made in Hope....80% of the parts in those products are made in China now and have been for the last 20 years or more. The products made in China are under very strict oversight. We have OUR people there watching the every move of the vendor to make sure it is done OUR way. Pull your heads out of your back sides and LISTEN to what is said. They are #1 in OEM car systems. Their aftermarket product is good stuff. It may not be the top of the line in some folk's eyes, but after being in car audio for 20+ years, some of their car alarms were my choice to use. Past all that, NONE of us know what will happen or if the deal will even go through. Kick back, play some of your favorite music and enjoy your systems. When things are final we all will know. No one hears expects anything to change anytime soon. You don't buy a cash cow and send it to the butcher shop. You let it continue to bring in the cash. You can not find many places that have the type of folks with the passion that we have here. How stupid would it be to break that up? If you want to help, go buy some NEW gear and stop pushing the DIY projects that blur the lines between Klipsch product and what ever the bastardized stuff out there is. It's gotten to the point that the CS team has to get S/N before ordering parts for someone because the warranty parts were being depleted due to the DIY folks building their own "klipsch" speakers. Like PWK said, If you want to build a speaker put your own name on it not mine.
  8. www.danandtreygotoces.com check it out while we drive to vegas for the show, we will be posting as often as possible. Thanks
  9. Right back at ya... I am not on here much anymore...work keeps getting in the way.
  10. Sure we break in the mids and tw...when we have new one to test. By the time we start listening to them the drivers are up to speed. Yes, we do play the speakers for some time before sending them out for review. AK-4 UK...no they are not broke in before shipping. Evey speaker is matched...to the standard. (With in 2db +/-) We test the parts as they are in the speaker at the end of the line. Only the vendor of the part test it before it comes to us. Noting to confirm that they are sound the same other than the end of line test. Dean, just run on over here and I will get you in to hear them. Jay, too much power, for the most part, is not an issue. Too little power is much worse.
  11. Ok, there is such thing as break in , but we do it in 20 min with 75% `input voltage at 20Hz. The complance of the woofers is where you would see the change. However, with that said, after 8 hr at 32V they had about 1 - 1.5db more output gain...not a lot of change. jay said : "You really cannot bi amp these speakers. The crossovers are beyond the jumpers. If you do not take the crossover out and try to "bi amp" you are just doing fools bi amping and possibly damaging the amps and crossover. You are worng. you can Bi-amp these speakers. It's called "passive bi-amp" where you use 2 amp channels for one speaker. And NO it will not hurt the speaker or amp Channel. True, there is not much advantage to it. I have seen tubes on the HF and SS on the LF. I have seen 3:1 power ratio so you can have more LF at low volume, but a bass knob can do the same thing. If you connect the HF section of the speaker to an amp, the amp will see the 8 Ohms + network load. If the LF section is connected the amp will see a min of 4 Ohms + network....but both will work just fine.... And NO there is no need for the "Dean G Mod". That was "fixed" with the new HF, LF drivers and network.
  12. If you have a port on the speaker, test with the mic in the port then convert the presure number into a SPL number. test the woofer at 1m then change the converted presure number's level to match the woofer 1m level. Splice the two curves together for a true LF curve. Test the system at 3m gated for a sum curve. Add 9.5db to the 3m curve to make it a "1m" curve and splice it to the LF curve...now you should have a good total curve. If the gated curve is not at the right level you can just match the LF curve level and you should be very close. Food for the brain
  13. Ok Fini,,,that is just wrong. The tech support guys should have a place to send the amp for repair.
  14. Thats a very good habit to have and I would expect noting less. Do you have a mic that you can use for testing? Using nearfield and gated test you can get a very good look at what the speaker is doing without the room.
  15. When testing a network here looking at the voltage transfer only what is how we do it. That data will get you close to the acoustic xover but not right on it. As you say, the networks are built with the driver in mind. You can do the same test with the driver as the load and see the difference between the two. In the end it is still the electrical potation of the equation. When you add the drivers and air to the mix things change a bit. When looking at just the electronics of the speaker this is very valid data.
  16. I did not read the entire post...but there are ways to stop the hum that is in the amp of that speaker. There is a bunch of wires/ cables that run from the preamp board at the botom of the speaker up to the amp unit at the mid back of the unit. IF this bunch of wires is not tied tight in to a "single cable" it can pick up the RF noise from the transformer. Bind them all together and pull them as far away from the xformer as you can. This may stop your hum. IF not, look at the filter caps on the power board. Big caps and little ones. I think there are like 6 per side. I would have to look to remember. Replacing them can have a good effect at times. A "cheater" plug on the power cable can also help. As for making the speaker passive, it can be done. The HF of the speaker is in its own cabinet with its xover inside. Pulling the amp and using an external amp will work fine as long as you can tune the amp to driver the sub like it wants. A KSW-300 amp is the same amp....A KSW-15 amp would drive if as well.
  17. Glad you got it working...the hum is from the cable box. They do not care about 60Hz and the sub loves that note... Outside where the cable comes into the house there should be a ground wire going from the cable box to a copper rod in the ground. If that connection is not a good one it can cause hum. If you can prove it is the cable box / cable co. that is providing you with that 60Hz sound at no charge you may be able to contact them and have them keep that sound to themself's. Good luck.
  18. Email me a number and a good time to call when you will be with the system...I bet we can get it going.
  19. You know, if you were to share with us what speakers you have we may be able to point you in a good direction. Just ranting in the title and body of your post does not help. you can always contact customer service and they can help. The office is closed on Nov 1, but will be open on Tue. Nov. 2nd.
  20. We use pro amps in our testing and most of our listening, even in one of our HT rooms. As for tubes, take time to look up what they do. They are odd harmonic generators and belong in stage gear not home audio. But that is just my point of view. PWK put the tubes to rest as soon as a good pro SS amp came to market. For the last 10 years or so that I was around him, I never found a tube amp in his house. Wait; there was one he used to hold the shop door open in the summer.
  21. They are all matched...the SN has not meaning in matching. All speakers are tested to the same standard. They must test within 1.5 db +/- of the standard not each other. The thing I worry about is warranty. I dont know that where he got them is autrized. IF NOT then he has NO WARRANTY with Klipsch. The speakers are not packed to ship small fright, (FedEx or UPS). When they are, there is a chance for damage.
  22. When they used that thing on me they came back and found it turned up to max...I ask if they had one that had more output. maybe something in 220.
