  1. Thanks Tony, looks real nice. Now maybe someone can create an entire Klipsch based Desktop Theme now that would be really cool. Maybe the folks at Klipsch could whip us up one in their spare time, Please. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder RCA DRD-303RA Satellite Receiver VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  2. The original Techmaster P.E.B. CD should task your speakers nicely, it's a full digital recording. Lots of low bass at different frequencies and speeds, try it you'll like it. 3. I run alot of power in my HT system, I have a Denon AVR 3300 running 3 outboard amplifiers. The effects are stunning, the DBX BX-3MkII's are rated at 400W X 2 @ 8 Ohms, one runs the Belle's the other the Heresy II's and ESS Minis. Although they are hardly working to power the Klipsch, I have headroom and dynamics that are right off the scale. Transients jump right out at you, especially since I run Dynamic Range Controllers and a Subharmonic Synthesizer. I did not think the Denon's power supply had enough ooomph to drive all the speakers I had and still remain solid and dynamic so I took almost all the load off of it, now it drives only one pair. As Ray stated it is the quality of those watts that will make the most difference. I thought the AVR 5800 was rated at 140W for each channel? 4. I would have to agree with macklipsch $1500 for Belle's with veneer damage is pretty high. I got my '80 Belle's in Oak Clear w/cane grills in good cosmetic shape just a few chips and some light stains for $1000. I would offer $400 for the rougher one. Just my thoughts.

  7. boa, you've got mail - I PM'd you with the details. Email me directly for photos if you like.
  8. Sorry Boa, DBX Consumer group went out of business back in 1990. They are available on eBay and Yahoo occasionally and they are in demand. Be sure to get the 120X-DS "Digital Series" version for the most flexibility. You can do many things with it, use it for bi-amping and route the frequencies that you select from 55-210Hz to the sub and the rest to your mains, or use it as a sub crossover, or use it as a subharmonic synthesizer to restore content that was lost in the recording/remastering process. Or do both at once. You can control it all from the front of the unit, and it has level indicator LED rows for 28,34,40 & 50Hz with fine tune knobs at the base of them. I think Cruzer uses one on his set-up. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder RCA DRD-303RA Satellite Receiver VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  9. It seems like the whole focus is sending more low frequency output to the dedicated LFE (SUB) channel, by setting all other speakers to SMALL allowing the sub to perform the majority of the frequency response below 80Hz +/- 12db. A strong point was mentioned, depending on the size of your mains and rears you could be sacrificing some important mid-bass output so that your system will now sound like "thunder and lightning". It is all user preference. I eliminate this dilemma by having total control of the subwoofer's crossover frequency, gain, and overall sub-harmonic level. By using the DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesiser/Electronic Crossover I can continuously vary the crossover point from 50-210hz, and manually select the desired output, I leave the sub volume on maximum. At the same time I can take a 55-110Hz bass signal and synthesize it a full octave lower and fine tune it at 28,34,40, & 50Hz with precise level controls on the face of the unit. Speakers are set to LARGE and the subwoofer is no longer controlled by the receiver. I have no trouble running it this way since I have enough power to support the most difficult transients with up to 400W available on 4 channels. The bass is tremendous, and can be easily adjusted. Fine tuning is accomplished with the assistance of the DBX 14/10 Eq which can RTA any spot in the living room in 45 seconds or less, and with 10 memories available you can do many seating positions or average them all together if you like. The SPL output when measured can easily reach the 14/10's max 119db. Although, just out of sheer curiousity I will give the SMALL thing a try. Thanks for the tip. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-3MkII Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder RCA DRD-303RA Satellite Receiver VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  10. No, I did not notice a drop in volume level, but I went from 105W to 250W. The Denon user manual shows the analog pre-outs variable from 1.2V to 8V depending on what level you have the individual channel set to. Each channel is adjustable from -12db to +12db and I would assume that "0" is 1.2V and "+12" is 8V. I leave the mains set to 0 or +1, the center at +5, to compensate for the 99db efficiency of the KV-4 versus the 104db of the Belle's. The rears are set to +3, and the subwoofer to +4 I would guess that the Sony should have the same ability to compensate for speaker efficiency and input sensitivity levels on outboard amplifiers. I hope I understood your question correctly. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) Yamaha M-80 Auto Class A Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-2 2/3/4 Channel Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television

  12. Hello Jobman, The Denon AVR-3300 has lots of pre-outs on the back of it making the connection of outboard amplifiers easy, I use the front pre-outs to feed the Yamaha M-80, the center out to feed the DBX MPA-150, and rear outs to feed the DBX BX-2 I am using Stinger Dream Series twisted pair interconnects treated with Caig's ProGold. 14. I use my Denon AVR-3300 to run 3 outboard amplifiers, 1 Front, 1 Rear, and 1 Center with excellent results. The Denon is very clean sounding to start with but I wanted more power and dynamics to support my processors and did not want to overwork the power supply in the Denon. 16. When I was younger in the late 70's early 80's time frame, there was I guy I knew that had a van that he had 4 Heresy's in, all powered by Zapco amplifiers, with the top the line Alpine component cassette deck he even had the Zapco Eq as well. We cruised around in this thing and listened to Pink Floyd's The Wall it was utterly amazing, such detail and output. Nothing at that time could come even close. I also had a cousin that used a pair in his Trans Am, the rear seat bottoms were removed so they would fit. He had the Cerwin Vega CS-9 Coaxials in the rear dash, he had a Nakamichi portable cassette recorder mounted above the center armrest. It was powered by a Fosgate (long before they became Rockfor Fosgate) PR-2100 amplifier 50W X4 this was the cleanest sounding set-up I had heard next to my buddy's van. 18. Som, you will only hear content from the rear speakers in Pro Logic if it has been assigned there in the movie soundtrack. They will only play effects mostly, as assigned. Does your receiver have equal power for all the 5 channels? Logic 7 is only matrixing the 2-channel signal and playing it back through all the speakers. Does it do the same thing when listening to music? Is your HK receiver DD/DTS ready and does it have an optical or digital coaxial input? Also, does your DirecTV receiver have a DD optical or coaxial output that you can connect to your receiver? If so get it connected in this manner. Let us know how you make out. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) Yamaha M-80 Auto Class A Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-2 2/3/4 Channel Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  19. Very Nice! DillonW, Love the Chorus II's for rears, I would like to upgrade to at least Forte II's for rears. I will someday if I can find them close enough to me to pick up. Congrats on the set-up. HornEd all those KLF-30's must envelop you in sound, I like hearing every detail hence the additional mains and rears. Once again, very nice set-up's guys and ditto on the understanding wife my living room is full of speakers. 20. Thanks Jim! I appreciate your effort, I do not let the moron's that respond to my "My System" post get to me. They obviously do not have anything better to do than to dis' other people's set up's. They probably don't even own a set-up themselves. 21. Hello and welcome to the BB, sounds like you have the makings of an awesome set-up. I like my DBX equipment as well, if you couldn't tell from my equipment listing. Nice deal on the La Scala's, it should sound fantastic once you get it all set up in that big room. Sounds like you were possibly in the Military sometime, alot of the initial stuff you bought is what was available in the BX's overseas. Take care and enjoy! ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) Yamaha M-80 Auto Class A Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-2 2/3/4 Channel Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  22. So your the lucky devil that picked those up on the "Buy it Now" feature. I got to them too late. I was going to replace my ESS mini's with some KV 2.2's. It sounds as if you have a burnt voice coil in one of the 6" drivers I am not sure if both woofers are active or not but it shouldn't be too difficult to replace one of the drivers. I initially had a KV 2.2V as a center channel and it sounded great, but I have since graduated to a KV-4. You will be very pleased with them once you get them fully operational, a very nice surround speaker indeed. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) Yamaha M-80 Auto Class A Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-2 2/3/4 Channel Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  23. Unfortunately, it is not as easy as removing the woofers and putting them in a box. You must have the woofer's T/S parameters so that the enclosure you build will ensure that they will perform properly. Some woofer's perform better sealed, others ported. You must also consider the X-max of the woofers to make sure they are capable of performing as a subwoofer as they will need to move considerable volumes of air to reproduce the low frequencies. You will also have to cross them over either actively or passively with a coil. In addition, their frequency response was more designed to perform as a woofer and not a subwoofer. You would be better off getting speakers that are designed to perform as subwoofers. Just my 2 cents. ------------------ Sony KP-43T70 43" Television Denon AVR 3300 A/V Receiver (LF/RF) (LWE-I's w/Motion Feedback - Walnut) Yamaha M-80 Auto Class A Amplifier (LF/RF) (Belle's - Oak Clear/Cane Grills) DBX BX-2 2/3/4 Channel Power Amplifier (RR/ARR/LR/ALR) (Heresy II's (Walnut/Cane) & ESS Mini Monitors (Walnut)) DBX MPA-150 Mono Split Spectrum Amplifier © (KV-4 - Black) Klipsch KSW-15 Powered Subwoofer (2) Nakamichi DVD-10 DVD/LCD/CD Player Nakamichi MB-10 Music Bank CD Changer Technics SL-DL5 DDLinear Tracking Turntable JVC HR-S7500U SVHS Video Cassette Recorder VC3 Deluxe Video Clarifier DBX 400XG Program Route Selector DBX 120X-DS Subharmonic Synthesizer/Crossover DBX 3BX-DS 3-Band Dynamic Range Controller (2) (1-LC) (1-RC) DBX 14/10 14-Band Computerized Equalizer/RTA Analyzer/SPL Meter Panamax 1000+ Surge Protector/Line Conditioner Sega Dreamcast w/3 Controllers & VMU's/S-Video Output Bedroom Yamaha RX-900U Receiver Panasonic DVD-A120U DVD/CD Player Sony SLV-740HF Hi-Fi VCR BBE - ARS Audio Recovery System A/D/S L300E Mini Speakers GE 20" Television
  24. I am truly a Klipsch fan, I heard my first pair (Heresy's) when I was around 15 at a friends house around 1977. A local store Audio Systems, Laredo, TX had the whole Heritage line on the floor available to listen to, they played all of them right up to the K'horn I was blown away. I think they were running them off a 25 watt per channel amp. I have owned many pairs of Klipsch over the years but I have finally settled with what you see listed below. I have found a La Scala for a center channel for $250 and the KV-4 will assume rear center duty. I can understand the comment about I don't have a home stereo I have a disco/night club pro set up. I have measured in excess of 119db with my DBX 14/10 Eq without even pushing it hard. You have never heard such detail come from DVD's and CD's I get disappointed if I go to the theater for a movie. Yes I am hooked, I love Klipsch speakers and will surely own more when I get a larger home. My next step is to get some of Al's Crossover's for my Belle's. Click the WWW icon to see my set-up which has since changed already since I posted photo's last.
