  1. Does anyone have a schematic for a KLF-10 that they could share? I seached with no success. Thanks
  2. I have had a set of KLF 10s purchaced new and have enjoyed them on and off for a long time now. I had a set of 20s for a while and found them harsh to listen to for extended listen sessions. They are now gone. I now have lined up a deal for 30s that include the trade of my 10s. Knowing that the 30s have the same mid/tweeter combo as the 20s scare me but the alure of the 30s is rather strong. Can the 30s shout be tamed? I know that it comes down to my ears but I am struggling with this so any advice is greatly appreciated!
  3. I don't recall ever seeing a set on the original Chorus comming for sale in south FL, I don't believe that I have even heard a set before. I think that I would miss the CII's mid........ Anyway, just a thought..... Thanks again for the input!
  4. I have found that the sound better in my room about 18" from the wall but then they stick out too far. At the 6" mark the bass is a little muddy. I would view the different mids/horn as a plus for the II. The port could be put into the cover of the passive so that no cutting of the cabinet would be needed and the passive could be replaced when wanted.... Thanks for the input!
  5. Has anyone ever removed /sealed the passive of a Chorus II and ported it like the Chorus I? Maybe due to damaged Passives, I am considering due to proper wall spacing for the passive. I belive you would lose about 6 hz due to the specs, db unknown. They have the same size cabinet and same woofer. Just wondering! Thanks.
  6. I ran mine with an Emotiva XPA-5, 200 wpc, ss. Sweet.
  7. Thanks for the feedback mj. I do wish I would have tried that. Funny enough I have kept around a set of the KLF 10s that I have always liked better. No doubt the 20s have what I would call more mids, just no more favorible to my ears. The 10s have the old diaphrams but I should upgrade for the next time I have them in service. I rember auditioning the 10s, 20s and 30s at the local Sound Advice. I like the 30s but they were priced out of my league at the time so I listened mostly to the other two sets. We were cranking some SRV and the salesman could not stop turning the volume up. Certainly loud but I knew that I would not approach that volume level at home. I could not wait till he left the room so that I could feel comfortable. I prefered the slightly darker sound of the 10s, Purchased them new and still have them today. At one point I had a 5.0 of the 10s. I picked a set of 20s used and expected to fall in love. No dice!
  8. I did not make any mods to the 20s. The CIIs I like even before the mods but I did replace the x-over caps and the tweeter diaphram. Based on the results I would certainly recommend the same for the 20s.
  9. I have owned both and gave away the 20s, sold the CIIs. In my experience the bass in the CIIs was tighter than the 20s but need some power behind them. The 20s gave me ear pain at moderate volumes soon after fireing them up. The 20s are considered a great speaker just not my expereince. There is nothing on the market like the CIIs today!
  10. I would say that 3.1 is better than 2.1 for movies. IMHO the dialog is much cleaner while maintaining the execent dynamics through your mains. Eons ago when I ran pure 2 channel on movies I had a lot of "what did he say?" but that is all gone with the addition of a good matching center!
  11. Thanks for the replies. I do not know the serials at the moment. I have figured out from the picks they are 1s due to the plywood construction and rear mounted drivers. This is a Craigslist venture so we will see what happens. They have been out there a while, I am guessing due in part to the price.
  12. Hello all, I am looking at a pair of cornwalls locally priced at $1300. I feel that it is a pretty high price, but I don't know anything about the speaker including 1 or 2s, stock or not. Can anyone offer input on what to look for on the Corns as it will be my first venture with this platform? Thanks!

    Marantz

I run an 8500 now as a pre but it did just fine as an avr. Crutchfield is great for service but always seem to be at msrp at everything that I have shopped for. You may want to take a peak at accessories4less.com. Most of their site is refurbushed with warranty. I've had very good fortune there purchasing as much as 50%+ off of retail. Anyways a yes for Marantz.
  14. Enjoy Bill!!! Blessings as always.
  15. "These are not the droids you are looking for" I've had Heresy IIs and quartets. IMHO the extra bass provided by the Q's make it an apples and oranges comparison. The H IIs were nice but.......
  16. My girlfriend was made in China. I must say the quality is quite good!
  17. I believe Audio Advisors in WPB have the Reference set up for demo.
  18. I have had a similar issue with using a KLF-C7 inside of an entertainment cabinet. It was mounted right below the TV and slightly angled up directly at the viewing position. I had issues with what I would call muffled dialog. I tried experimenting with the avr's crossover and level control but was never able to cure my issue. Later the speaker was set on an open entertainment shelf and the speaker came alive. I did not try any damping as suggested. Curious to the outcome.
  19. I have had both the Chourus IIs and the Quartet. Both are pretty incredible speakers. BC mods to both. The Chorus IIs I feel are more room size/position dependent. Quality powerful amp is a must to get the woofer going. If you have that go with the Chorus II. The Quartet is very easy to set up and is not as power dependent although it will shine with it. The Quartet seems to have better dynamics and better balance at a lower volume level but if you are doing a little cranking The Chorus is just incredible.
  20. I ran a KLF set up on the front three for a while using the KSP-6 solition that Bill recomended and it was very good. Prior to those surrounds I used the RS-3 wide dispursion surrounds and for my set up they were actually preferred. They were mounted approx 6' high and about 1' behind my sitting position. The Reference series sound wise is probably not the best timber match but as far as effects they were awesome.
  21. I was a Sound Advice junkie for many years. Before Klipch hit Best Buy and the internet was not really rolling at the time it was the only place to score Klipsch that I new of in So FL. My first set was some KSF 10.5s. Not the best but they set the hook pretty deep. I recall the KSP, KLF and Synergy. I had a friend who had purchased his Epics there. There open box and buy one / get one on speakers were awesome. I think I cried when Tweeter took them over and that did not last long down here. On a side note, they have reopened under the original ownership. One store is in Boca Raton and I believe a second is on the way. Unfortantally, they no longer carry our favorite speaker brand.
  22. Here is a pick of the cabinet under construction.
  23. Question: As I am trying to crossover a bass/mid-bass speaker expecting it to top off in the 200-300 hz range, what is the general opinion of using a 2/3 ocatave eq? I have an Art Audio model that will operate at 12 db be slider which I would feel could kill the unwanted high freqs and tame the bass at the same time. It would also allow me to kill the bass unit it wanted. Feel free to shoot holes in my idea as I am only here to learn!
