But, while the veneer looks book matched OK, it looks like there is a big issue with the consistence of the stain/finish.

I agree totally.  Something went wrong with the duller sheet of veneer.

The more I look at the photo, the grayer veneer is the distressed oak and the browner veneer is the "standard" version of stained oak.  Must have been low lighting in the factory the day these were veneered.

  2. IMO, send it back.  You paid good money for showroom quality speakers and that is not what you have.  Things do happen but a good dealer will make it right.  Maybe they will let you keep them until the replacement pair arrives.

  3. @creed2,

    Welcome to the forum.

I own the Heresy 1 and Heresy 2 and both in their own way sound wonderful.  Both are a great way to get your feet wet for not a whole bunch of $$$.  Deals on NOS Heresy 3's might be found if you search long and hard enough.  What I found most appealing about the Heresy is that it is not rally amplifier picky and can sound great with just about any amp, IMO.

  4. @lifeisgoodsteve,

    Welcome to the forum.

You have a decent pair of speakers there.

As long as it's ok with the forum, and I didn't see it against the rules in what I read, I figure I'll simply see if anyone would like to bid on these and if so I'd sell to the highest bidder as long as it's in a fair price range.

Not sure either if the stated rules forbid, but "auctioning" goods on the Klipsch Forum is very frowned upon.  Asking for advice on pricing is okay and most members will be as fair as they can when responding to price suggestions.  Geographic location, condition, desirability/demand will play into things.

On the woofer of one of them the center part is pushed in as I think my lab may have pushed it in their excitement.  I imagine there's an easy way to pull it out, but I didn't want to touch it so left it alone.  Shown in pics.

A little more going on here than a pushed in woofer dust cap, but it can be improved/replaced.

With that said, I(me) would put your speakers in a price range of $400.00 to $500 provided they function as intended.

  5. Fantastic story and Armando, welcome to the forum.  Your previous mindset and “disdain” for Klipsch speakers is slowly becoming a thing of the past for many as they are now being “properly” introduced to the Klipsch offerings, older, newer, and new and improved incarnations of what started it all.

Were the RSX series designed and timber matched to work with the older reference such as the RB75  RF7?

I can't guarantee that but before I bought my RS-35s, I had a pair of RSX-4s as surrounds with my RF-63/RC-64 combo.  I thought they all sounded good together.

keep the RS-35's or replace them as well

As you probably already know, your speakers setup is not the most timbre matched but since it sounds really good to you, that is all that matters.  With that said, the RS-35s are very capable surround speakers and I have enjoyed my pair for close to a decade.  Had many opportunities to "upgrade" to either the RS-52s or RS-62s for pretty cheap but decided if it ain't broken, no need to do it.

Appreciate any suggestions-don't have a lot of technical or audiophile expertise, just know I love the Klipsch sound!

That is the place I started and still at today.

I have a set of rb3s, my center is an RC 3 and  a pair of sb1 surrounds. I have a ksw-10 woofer.

Yes they are worth keeping.  Set it all up and see(hear) what you got.

Have Klipsch RP 5000F speakers and Yamaha RN803BL recommended as a purchase to drive them and lower end Yamaha TT S303 turntable but I've got really nothing but distortion coming from the speakers. Connections have been checked and re-checked with no change. What's wrong? Is there still not enough power to drive the speakers?

Your Yamaha stereo receiver has plenty of grunt to power your speakers with ease.  I'll bet it has something to do with the TT.

RB-5's and RB-81-II's also came in Cherry veneer even if the 81's are a vinyl wrap hard to tell that in pictures.

Yes but the RB-5s are shorter and rear ported.  Klipsch does do a pretty good job with their cherry vinyl veneer.  When I first got my "cherry" RB-35s, I had to do a double take at them even though I knew it was vinyl.

Your 1st round with Thomas "Hitman" Hearns was the best round of any fight ever.

Legendary round.  You knew from the onset that either could take the other out and it was not going to last past 3 rounds with a pace like that.

    RIP MMH.

  12. Great amp.  I had the A100x3 for a while and it was very nice, sounded much more powerful than it's spec'd 100w/ch.

    Good luck with your sale.

  13. With a room at minimum 3400ft3 + the other open areas, you need a pair of the PB-2000s to get even close to "pressurizing" that space for high impact action movie scenes.  I had an RSW-10d and a Revel B15 in my 4000ft3 room and that just was not enough to "feel" action movies the way they should be experienced.  I added an SVS SB13 Plus to the mix and that is when I finally felt pretty satisfied with my HT rig.
