  1. Don't get me wrong about the game. The Tide absolutely destroyed the Gators. I have been saying all year that the Gators are not the same team as last year even though many starters are the same. I just wanted to point out what a class act Tim Tebow is. Bill
  2. Let me say just one thing. You will not find a more dedicated, selfless, respectful, competitive, leader with such class as Tim Tebow. I would put him in the same league as Roger Staubach and Kurt Warner as role models. JMO. Bill
  3. I don't think the Forte II's have really low impedence dips. Someone please chime in who is more informed than me on this matter. Bill
  4. You might want to consider monblocks if you are you going back to your original thought of 2 channel amps. http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?amps20ch&1264954345 Just add another if and when you get a center channel. Bill
  5. Here is another amp to consider if you want to keep it in the Marantz family. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1264524331&/Marantz-MM9000 http://www.audioreview.com/mfr/marantz/amplifiers/mm-9000/PRD_123770_1583crx.aspx Bill
  6. Wuzzzer, I think your choices are slim pickens for $1000.00 and under with HDMI. Get the amp, try it out with your Marantz and go from there. Take a look at this. You could sell the preamp if you have no use for it. I have no affiliation with ad. http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?prea51ch&1263401660 Bill
  7. Absolutely. One of the best bang for the buck speakers Klipsch has ever produced. Tubes, vintage Marantz, Sansui, HK, etc. all mesh well with them. My first intro to vintage Klipsch. Only sold them to fund Forte purchase. Bill
  8. Here is an awesome universal player. Great sonics, great video, built solid(19.2 pounds). http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?sorcdvda&1262643754 http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/transports/dvd-players/yamaha-dvd-s2300-mk2 Send a PM to forum member JHoak about his opinion on the Yamaha. Another excellent choice. A little more money but even better audio and video. http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?sorcdvda&1263079597 http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_12_1/denon-dvd-3910-dvd-player-1-2005.html No affiliation with these links. 9. Dylani, What is "on the cheap" to you? What is max you will spend? Bill
  10. For what it's worth, there are very favorable reviews online for the THX Ultra 2 system. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/thx-ultra2-reviews/ Bill
  11. As Youthman stated, I have the Quartet's and Forte's in different rooms hooked up to different systems. But I would have to say that both are awesome. The Forte's open up a bit more on the bottom end due to the larger drivers and cabinet while the Quartet's have a smoother midrange with the tractrix horn. I will eventually move the Quartet's into the same room as the Forte's hooking them up to the Marantz 2252b and do an A/B comparison. I will get back to you on that. Bill
  12. Welcome to the forum. I would say if you have $2000.00 to spend, get a hold of an Onkyo TX-NR905 or 906 and a multichannel amp(3 channel preferred) of at least 150w/channel and you'll be set. The high end Onkyo's have a toroidal transformer and top of line DAC's and all the bell's and whistles you will need. By the way, any of your suggestions will work fine. http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?prea71ch&1261111509 http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampstran&1262201031&/Parasound-2250- My RF-63's really came alive when I added a 3 channel(200w) amp. Bill
  13. Everything wuzzzer said. He wrote exactly what I was thinking almost word for word. Bill
  14. I would not say required to make them sing just recommended to make them sing better. Bill
  15. Welcome to the forum. First I do not have a dedicated theater room but my family room/kitchen is 16ft wide at it's narrowest by 33ft long with a 10ft/12ft stepped ceiling. I am running a theater setup consisting of an RC-64, RF-63's, RSX-4's, and a RSW-10d sub. I am powering all this with an Onkyo TX-SR705(100w/ch) receiver and a three channel B&K(200w/ch) amp. I am sure with some more dampening material and a bigger sub it could sound better but I can tell you the sound fills the room with no problem. I had a pair of RB-35's(pre RB-81) and an RC-62 before my current setup and there is no comparison. If you can afford the 63's(or 83's), you will not ask the question "what if I had gotten .....?" Bill
  16. Here is an idea if you don't mind spending $3100.00. http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1263005298 Another idea with seven channel flexibility. $1450.00 http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?amps50ch&1264285983 Somewhere in the middle. $2500.00 http://www.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cls.pl?ampsmult&1263676343&/Ps-audio-GCA-Mc-3x250-multi-ch I have no affiliations with these ads. Just suggestions. Bill
  17. [ Get them now. I paid $1000.00 used for my 63's and I know I got a great deal. Bill
  18. Welcome to the forum. Those Onkyo/Integra's have a pretty beefy amp section for a receiver. Try it out and if you feel it is lacking, find a good used 3 channel and enjoy. Bill
  19. Rush--Snakes and Arrows, David Gilmore--Remember That Night, Eagles--Hell Freezes Over, U2--Elevation 2001--Live From Boston Bill
  20. Sorry, I did not mean to mislead. If and when a BD version is released I am sure it will be excellent. Bill
  21. I will have to agree, this is by far the best concert dvd I have ever heard. The seperation in the instruments and of course the harmonizing is second to none. If the the dvd version is this good, I can only imagine what the BD version sounds like. Bill
  22. The RC-64 will work but will also have a tonal difference from the RF-7's. It is also huuuuge! Stay with the RC-7 which has the same tweeter(1.75 in) as the RF-7's. Bill
  23. Not because I suggested it, but I think the riser idea is your best bet. http://www.hootjudkins.com/products.php?pid=201953&detail=true It looks like you could get custom sizes so you can shove the RC-7 right in the slot or place it in front and still have those rear ports breathe. Bill
  24. Welcome to the forum. In the last 8 months, I have powered my Forte's with several different amps, preamps and receivers. In order of sound quality, here is how I ranked them: 1. Marantz 2252b receiver(52w/ch) 2. Luxman R-115 receiver with Denon POA-1500(150w/ch) amp 3. NAD 1020A preamp with NAD 2150 amp(50w/ch) 4. Onkyo TX-SR705 receiver with B&K Ref.4430 amp(200w/ch) 5. Luxman R-115 receiver(70w/ch) Let me make this very clear, the Forte's sounded great with all configurations I tried. Even though the Luxman/Denon combo and Onkyo/B&K combo offered more headroom with good clean sonics, the Marantz was hands-down smoother and more articulate especially at low to medium volumes. This is just my little trial and error. Bill
  25. What wuzzzer and tdkamerica said. Even though your Denon is a nice receiver and is claimed to be high current, compaired to the XPA-3, it just does not have the oomph to handle the low impedence dips(2.8 ohms) that the RF-7 and RC-7 have when the spl's go up. If you can afford it, take advantage of the sale before it ends. Bill
