I have a pair of RSX-4's as surrounds running with RF-63's and an RC-64. I don't feel that they are lacking at all. Would RS-52's or 62's be better? Yes, but for now these little speakers sound great. Just MHO. Bill

I have an RC-62 that was powered by an Onkyo TX-SR705 with a B&K Ref. 4430(200w/channel) amp. Before adding the B&K the Onkyo worked just fine. The B&K added some warmth and depth and of course dynamics to my setup. The 806 has a nice amp section(though not the amp that is in the 805) with 130w/channel. I would suggest you buy Wuzzer's Onkyo TX-SR805. There is not a more feature-laden, with a bigger power supply or better amp section, with Burr-Brown dacs, and is THX Ultra2 cert. receiver on the market anywhere close to the price he is asking. You took the words right out of my mouth. At his computer, he is probably no more than 2 feet from all of his speakers. Kind of like the B**E displays at the big box stores. Those little cubes sound great from 3 feet but put them in a 3000 cubic foot room and they will sound similar to a transister radio. Bill

Welcome to the forum. I bought my mint oak oil Forte's for $450.00. A good price from what I have seen and heard. Expect to pay about 10 to 20% more for an unmodyfied pair in same condition. I say keep and enjoy them. Mine really came alive when I added a vintage Marantz. Bill

Marantz 2252b and Forte's. Just moved my Forte's from heavily tiled and no acoustic dampening family room to a carpeted with thick curtains bedroom. I don't know if it is the Marantz alone or the combination of it and the different acoustics but now the Forte's seem more articulate and instruments have a seperation to them I really never noticed. I never knew only 52 vintage Marantz watts would even compare to my B&K 200w amp. The Onkyo/B&K combo sounds great with the Forte's but I think the Marantz and Forte's are a match made in audio heaven. Bill

Welcome to the forum. I don't think there is a sound difference. A 1.2 HDMI receiver needs the BD or HDDVD players to decode the new sound formats and send them via LPCM while 1.3 receivers have decoding capabilities on board and can take a raw bitstream from the player. With either receiver you will get TrueHD or DTSMA. My friend has the Pioneer 82 and I have the Onkyo 705. Of your choices, I would choose the 82 or the 706. If you are concerned about wattage, you could later add an outboard 3 or 5 channel amp to cure that problem for a few hundred bucks on the used market. Bill

Welcome to the forum. I think your system is great. If I was going to change one thing it would be the center. Search hard for an RC-7 for a good price. You will not regret it. You already have top-fuel dragsters for the fronts without the 200w amp. Even it up a bit and get the RC-7. You will thank me(and others) later. Your sub is hard to top. Bill

I just scored a Marantz 2252B for $125.00. Everything functions properly and all lights work. A little dusty inside but mint condition with no scratches. I never would have dreamed 52w would blow me away the way this receiver does. I currently have it hooked up to my KG4's(sold to Clermontcop) and am having seller's remorse. Just kidding, I would not do that. No sub and you would not even know it. When Marantz is often described as "warm sounding", I now know what that means. This will be what will drive my Forte's when the KG4"s are gone. Bill

Welcome to the forum. I have heard really good praises about Marantz and Klipsch. I think the Forte II's and the 8500 will be a great match. I will probably be upgrading to a Marantz receiver(6003 or 8002) to pair with my B&K and drive my Forte's. If Forte's sound really good with my Onkyo, I know the Marantz will sound that mutch better. I happen to agree with Chuck. I don't think he was referring to many, if any, members of this forum. I would speculate he means the "I am filthy rich and my stuff is better than your stuff" crowd. I personally love to hear about the "best bang for the buck" stories often shared on the forum. Many here and elsewhere search diligently on the web,C-list,garage sales,thrift stores,etc. to find those pieces of treasure. It is a great feeling knowing you spent a couple of grand on a system that you know someone else might have spent five times as much. Even then it is better not to boast. Bill

I stayed home from work today to receive my new RC-64 from 6ave.com. I was hoping the UPS guy would arrive early but he didn't get to my house until around noon. I wanted to be home to receive it so I would have a witness in case it was damaged. I had the UPS guy note in his hand-held that the box was damaged in multiple areas and I took pictures. To my pleasant surprise, the speaker was not damaged at all and came out of the box in mint condition. Let me tell you for those that don't know, this thing is a beast. But this beast puts out some incredible sound. I thought the RC-62 sounded fine with my RF-63's but not perfect. The RC-64 is unquestionably perfect. On a whim, I went to 6ave.com and clicked on the cherry RC-64. The price was listed at $999.99. I clicked on "price alert" and keyed in $575.00. In less than 5 minutes, I received an email telling me that they would sell it to me for that price and I had a 7 day lock at $575.00. Talked to my wife about it and then ordered it. They were currently out of stock for about a week and a half and then a confirmation email came. Six days later and the rest is history. Anyone want to buy a black RC-62 in perfect condition? $325.00 plus shipping. All negotionable. Again, got to sell to buy. I will post in garage sale and add pictures later. Bill

I am assuming when you said you, you meant me. I own both subs and would say that the difference isn't night and day but substantial. Louder, tighter, cleaner, and no port noise. I think the RSW-10d is excellent for music and HT while I would say that the RW-10d is good for music and HT. I was one of the fortunate ones to get the cherry RSW-10d at Vann's for $599.79. It was a no-brainer purchase. The RSW-10d keeps up with my RF-63's much better. JoSixChip, Welcome to the forum. Now with the setup you are looking at, you can't go wrong. I would use the RC-62 instead of the RC-52 but that is me. I just so happen to have one for sale($325.00 mint condition). Since you really like the the Heresy's, why not let them be the foundation of your HT. Many on this forum live and die by the Heritage Series. Three Heresy's up from and maybe a couple of KG2's as surrounds would be a nice way to go.
