  1. This is the reason I have AAA. Just in case of car failure/problems when I am not close. My daughter locked herself out of her car at college at least 2 times. I had a flat on the interstate and my spare tire was FLAT! AAA to the rescue.
  2. Check into the Navy's Nuclear Power Program as an officer. See what you think. Many rewards while in and after should you decide to get out. Wrinkles
  3. I think they are not so much forgotten as no one knows their individual stories. I had an Uncle in World War II who would not talk about the war. I learned from my father that he was a paratrooper in the Battle Of the Bulge. And over his 4 or 5 year hitch in Europe he received 6 Purple Hearts. It seems that the men and women who have had to actually pull the triggar and take away a life are very quiet about it. It must be a very soul searching experience. I am very awed by their heroism. 4. Welcome to the Forum POL, When it comes to the crossover screws, you loosen and tighten everyone you can reach. You do not need to remove the screws or wires, just loosen enough to break any resistance (ohms) buildup that may have formed from rust or tarnish. Tighten the screws snugtight again. This can also apply to the connection points at the drivers. Especially if the wires are connected with the slip-on or slide-on connectors. If you find that this fixes the problem, then I would go ahead and remove the wires one at a time and clean the terminals and connectors at the terminals and at the drivers with alcohol. Sounds like you are losing the signal connection somewhere, whether it is at the speakers, or at the connection post at your amplifiers (mine tend to loosen over time) or even at the interconnect connection points. 5. Tom, Thanks for taking the time to scan and post the cartoons. It was a nice stroll. I appreciate it very much. Wrinkles I hope there are other cartoons out there that can be posted.
  6. DT, I have really enjoyed the cartoons. Any idea how many were published or how many years he was drawing for the stereo mag? Wrinkles
  7. Have a safe trip. Next year maybe you can make the Lone Star Audio Fest here in Dallas. Wrinkles
  8. DJK, Thanks for pointing me back to the graph. Is there a graph anywhere of only the Klipsch built LaScala bass bin? Wrinkles
  9. In both of mine, they are fastened to the wood using wood screws and are under and to the left of the squaker driver. The board does not extend out into the air. Mine are 1989/90 versions. Wrinkles
  10. Bonder, I'm betting the Altec and 902 will sound great. My older setup of LaScala with Altec 511A/802d drivers and JBL 2404 tweeters really sounded geat. I am way busier than I want to be to play around much, but I did swap out the K402 with the EV mid horns and tweeter. The K402 overpowered the IVA bass bin. I was figuring that the IVA bass bin would play deeper. And I think it does. but without any crossover work it will not gel well with the K402. With the total IVA together go lower, but I have not set them up in a room correctly for any serious listening. So, more work and observations to go. I did deterine that the Sonic T amp did not do them any justice. With Bottlehead Paramour 2A3 tubes, these speakers sounded pretty good. I think you are correct on the crossover points. The LaScala/K402 crosses alittle higher around 450 hz I think. I do not know how high the IVA bassbin will reproduce well. Something else I will need to do. Take Care, Wrinkles
  11. Well, I'm going to try the K402s on them. If they go deeper than the LaScalas, then maybe I'll move my LaScalas into the HT with the other 2 LaScalas. Then I guess I could call it a JubSentry or Jub5050 or K4025050 or K402IVA or EVK402 or ? I bought the EV Sentry IVA pair for $200. The ST-350A drivers and 1823M drivers had their diaphrams replaced 3 years ago and along with new surrounds for the 4 12" woofers. If they should not perform well then I can always put them back on Craigslist where I got them. I thought maybe laying the TL5050 cabinets on their side vs upright might connect the horn better to the floor plane. We'll see. Wrinkles
  12. Well, I guess the firestarters were not just trying to stay warm, What were the other cabinets in the fire? Thanks for the link. Your .pdf doc said alot. Wrinkles
  13. I know there are many of ya'll that have been chasing audio nivana longer than me. So, the EV bassbin is almost twice the size of a LaScala bass bin. The EV Sentry IV uses the TL5050 cabinet. Plans below. http://archives.telex.com/archives/EV/Builders%20Plans/TL5050%20Builders%20Plans.pdf Has anyone measured the bass response of this speaker and cabinet? Has anyone compared it to the LaScala bass bin? I 'm betting a K402 might sound pretty good on top of this. Thanks, Wrinkles
  14. Amy with the many changes to the Klipsch website, I cannot find the area that has for sale the ... T-shirts Ball Caps License Plates Beer glasses Koozies Jackets Coffee cups I did find the large wooden Klipsch sign. Is all this a this a thing of the past? Will the groupies be relegated to buy these items off of ebay? Will my T-shirt go up in value? Thanks, Wrinkles
  15. I remember that poster hanging up in the torpedo room on my submarine. There was just something about that poster.

  18. Chris, Thanks for the invite. I will definitely take you up on that. Remember it was you that introduced me to the Jubilees. I definitely want to hear the Jubilees when the TAD drivers are in place. Wrinkles
  19. Chris, Did you just say 4 XTI1000s? I must have missed a thread. Did you pick up two more Jubilees? Or build a super dooper surround setup? Wrinkles
  20. Rich, I am only aware of the XTI fans being on twice in over a year of use. And then it was between songs. I guess you really have to push them to heat em up. Wrinkles
  21. Thanks. No picture yet of both speakers. At the time I figured it would be a tougher shot with the backlighting from behind both speakers and not enough detail due to the distance from the speakers I would be required to be for a decent shot. I'll give it another attempt tho. Can you post a pic of your 510 JubScala setup? It would be good to have all three setups in the same thread. Aesthetically speaking, I thought the black K402 on black LaScala speaker worked out real well. Wrinkles
  22. Rich, Can you send me a personal email adress? I will send to you the JubScala file for the Crown XTI amplifier. You will need to download the communication software to install the file from http://www.crownaudio.com/software.php If you haven't heard the JubScala combination, you will be amazed. Wrinkles
  23. yes you do want the beer to go 'flat' ie lose it's carbonation. warm helps with proofing the dough. CP1 and all, I think in traditional beer recipes that may be the case for the proofing, but not this recipe. This takes 5 minutes to mix and in the oven it goes for 45 minutes. I've made 6 loaves to date from 2 different varieties of beer with it being mixed right out of the bottle with carbonation and they have been perfect every time. This bread dough needs no stinkin' proofing.[] Here is the internet recipe location. Other bread recipes are there as well. Enjoy! http://foodiefarmgirl.blogspot.com/2005/11/beer-bread-update-whole-wheat-version.html Wrinkles
  24. Groomlakearea51, I only let the bottle get to room temperature thinking maybe it would blend better with the flour. I do not think it matters much as far as it being stale. The original recipe did not call for stale beer, so it probably would not matter. My beer bottles are 12 ounce size and I have to add 2 ounces of water to it. If you use stale beer and it works let us know. That would make it more useful. My bread once again turned out perfect last night. It is a heavy bread, not a light and fluffy white type. Wrinkles
  25. Did you ever have a beer in the fridge that not even your brother-in-law would take? Well, now you can really impress everyone with this very easy to make bread. I am cooking a loaf now and remembered this recipe thread. The recipe came off the internet so I can only take credit in running across it when looking for a beer recipe. The title says it all. I have always baked it for 45 minutes exactly and have had absolutely no problems with it not being cooked enough. Its an almost “no chance of failure” bread recipe. Enjoy. Farmgirl Susan's Almost Too Easy Whole Wheat Beer Bread Recipe Makes One Loaf 2 cups whole wheat flour 1 cup all-purpose flour 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1 Tablespoon baking powder 14 ounces beer (or 12 ounces beer & 2 ounces water) Optional glaze: 1 egg & 2 teaspoons water, beaten Heat oven to 375 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. Slowly stir in beer and mix just until combined. Batter will be thick. Spread in a greased 8-inch loaf pan, brush with egg glaze if desired, and bake until golden brown and a toothpick stuck in the center comes out clean, about 45 minutes. Cool in the pan on a rack for 10 minutes. Remove from pan and cool 10 more minutes. Serve warm or at room temperature.
