  1. There is no problem using fewer channels on an Emotiva amp as long as you are not pressing to get the extra output out of the remaining channels. The power supplies will give it's full power to as many channels as you use, but the individual channels are not designed for more than their share. I have been running an LPA-7 with mostly 3 channels being used for several years...but I don't turn the volume up to anywhere near max either. As for the UMC-1..I love mine, but I have not had the problems most have had. My only issue has been dropouts when using zone 2 with a different input from zone 1. On the other hand, I can't say I would recommend it due to all the issues. I may upgrade if they ever come out with the XMC (because of the built in discount) but I'm not sure if I would buy the UMC again. The sound is great, the price is great, the customization is great...but the bugs...tough call...depends on how tight the cash is I guess.
  2. Amazing!!!! So then how do you deal with the upgrade bug???
  3. Thanks for the update...glad its nothing important...and yes it looks like FedX is late today...not yet tried to deliver as of 5:25 CST.
  4. I actually sent him an amp this week and according to FedX no one was there to sign for it on the first try.
  5. So many great looking systems. Personally I'm fond of those blue lights Browning..[Y]
  6. Was planning on the XDA but not sure I want to put in the extra cash...probably going to blow it on cables and T-Shirts
  7. Thanks for the invite and the hospitality. Had a great time and got to meet some good folks. Even if some were old (just kidding Cliff).
  8. If you don't mind, I will be showing up with Southern, after we stop and check out some Khorns!! If anyone wants me to bring anything Emotiva (LPA-1, RPA-2, ERC-1) let me know tonight, otherwise I'll just bring some Beer and Blues.
  9. I have had my UMC-1 for about a month now. It does have some bugs. It does sound very nice with Klipsch. I have 3 Cornwalls and 2Heresys (all ones) as a 5.1 and I find it to be dead quiet. I have recently been listening to some tube amps and other systems and while a couple have come close, for my ears none have beaten the Emotiva/Klipsch combo. Yes I know the tubies will disagree without ever hearing it and the Mac Folks will agree with the tubers, but the reason I love Klipsch Heritage is the clarity and sound for the $$. The exact same values I find with Emotiva. Cary makes a pre/pro with the same chipset as the UMC and I probably sounds great...as it should for $30,000. As has been said in this thread already, the UMC-1 is not perfect and has some bugs but I'm not sending mine back, they are very customer driven and will take care of the issues. I am not one to tell others what they should like, but I am very happy with my Emotiva and Klipsch gear. If anyone wants more details ask in a pm as I don't go through all the threads as much as I used to....I'd rather listen to some tunes. [Y]
  10. He may be the toughest QB to ever play and there is no denying his desire to win..but that is his achilles heel. He knows he may not get another shot and when it comes to the end, he cannot help himself, he HAS to try to take it. He is way more fun to watch than Joe Montana...but in the playoffs, cool gives a team a better chance to win than a gunslinger. Favre is a great QB and it is a team game, but you cannot overlook the fact that his last 3 seasons each ended with/because of an INT.
  11. Thanks Stormin. Like a Klipsch Fan, once you find the best, you just stick with it. [Y]
  12. As a lifetime Packer Fan, I can tell you that the Vikes have a very solid team so things may be better for Favre, but each of the last 4-5 years he was with the Pack, he slid late in the year. Six ints in one playoff game, the infamous Giants game, check the stats for him in December over recent years and you will find out part of the reason GB went with a younger guy....Check his game the past few weeks and look at his argument with the coach. It may work out, but I for one will be surprised if you get all the way to the SB. (of course I may be slightly biased, but I am telling the truth)
  13. You guys do know there has been jazz recorded after 1975 right??[] No pictures but George Kahn...
  14. I'm an Emotiva owner (a very satisfied one) but I think there is one point not yet raised here. The thread is comparing manufacturers, but there would be a big difference in comparing specific models. I have and Emotiva LPA-1 and an RPA-2 and while I like them both, they have completely different price points and functions. One is a 'reference' 2 channel and one is a 7 channel. I know this is true of the other brands as well (I looked long and hard at Rotel, and a couple others before buying) Emotiva will give you great sound and value (very few people are ever unsatisfied and most are amazed). Just make sure you are comparing the same features/models, which I haven't seen mentioned (but then again I might have missed it)
