  1. I have one of those books somewhere upstairs. Haven't seen it since we moved in, though.
  2. Is there anyone here who has this guys info i.e. email address per chance? He had listed a Parasound preamp I was sort of interested in and now everything is gone. Maybe a moderator has it and could message it to me?
  3. @Tom Bird I've personally used these for years and a great electrolytic replacement. I used all Mundorf caps and resistors in my ads L1230's with great results. https://www.partsconnexion.com/MUNDORF-71878.html
  4. I guess no one is going to offer much more info about the woofer. Just keep an eye on ebay as there are no parts whatsoever for the Epic series. Not even emblems.
  5. Oh man....that stinks! @Chief bonehead Any recommended replacement woofer?
  6. @KCLew Good luck with finding a woofer as pretty much ALL Epic series stuff is unobtanium and they don't stock any parts for them...even grill emblems. Keep an eye on e b a y potentially as that might be the only place you'll see one where cabinets got parted out. I would imagine the sum of the parts are worth about as much as the whole. I could be wrong. I see where a CF-2 woofer last sold on e b a y for $18 which is cheap considering the CF-3 and 4 woofers (and HF drivers) command a premium. That thread mainly deals with Epic CF-3's and 4's with a minor sprinkling of 1's and 2's. Good luck!
  7. Well, well, well. Look who Onkyo is in with now...
  8. For $150, I would have definitely bought them, myself. Cabinet construction is good and risers are well built. You can see that the cabinet material looks to be a good 7 ply material and the bases are 5 ply of some nature. That's pretty solid construction. Drivers are definitely worth the cost of admission. I would move the L-pads to the back wall of the cabinet so they can be adjusted as that woofer is going to be nowhere as sensitive as the mid or tweeters.
  9. Yep. That was 1989 when Fred Klipsch bought it and the Voxx thing came around in 2011.
  10. So in essence, they are wanting this site to only be for singing of praises of all newer, and older speakers, in full stock form, with using parts that are only recommended by Klipsch, even when Klipsch doesn't actually have the parts. Even with people who might own Epic stuff, for example, with replacements that are unobtanium, including grill emblems, woofers, HF drivers, etc. People/consumers search ALL OVER THE INTERNET for input on their older speakers....not necessarily here. If that's the direction of the forum, then there will be a lot of people on THIS forum trying to woo the people to listen to this forum versus every other location online, which outnumber this site with a huge ratio. I get both sides of it, honestly. I'm not batting for either side here and it really won't make or break my day. I have CF-3's of which no parts are available for and there are many others out there that do, too. So where would they be directed, for example. I also have ads speakers which there is no "ads company" yet there is someone who can repair and/or rebuild them along with a wealth of knowledge about them. I know that the majority of this stems from VOXX (Audiovox back in 2011), the parent company, as I used to be a rep for Audiovox, and other companies, that are/were owned by VOXX. Every time a company I sold at retail, or rep'd, got bought out by VOX, they changed many facets of their business structure, representation, etc. You can read about how this changed with VOXX owning Onkyo/Integra, a company I used to rep, that is gone now in the U.S. . That's what "big corp" does and I know it first hand; it's not a new thing. And I definitely would like to see Klipsch stay around in this crazy climate of consumer electronics. They are in my home state and I'm about 3 hours from them.
  11. But I whole heartedly agree in that it's Klipsch's forum and they can govern and police it however they see fit as it does need that when things go to the rude point with name calling, etc. They also have the right to delete posts, threads, ban people, remove reviews from their website for products they don't like, etc. It happens. I spent 25 years in that industry.
  12. I'm sure it will be deleted soon and get discussed everywhere else. It was just observational.
  13. @jjptkd I'll see you on the other side, man... 😁
  14. I guess I didn't look at that Belle speaker thread close enough but the tops separate on a Belle so it really wouldn't require any "chopping up". It looked to me like they built a completely new top. I could be wrong, though. Belle's haven't been made in how many years now? And who owns his Belle's again?
  15. I figure they'll be along shortly to shut this one down for people having an opinion about things. That's ok. I've screen shot everything for later.
  16. Good grief. Go figure. I should have taken a screen shot of that page, too. lol
  17. Oh yeah? You guys judged car audio stuff too? I was doing that, as well, from about 1985 till I got out of the industry in 2009. Competing in and judging both in install and SQ. This was back in the Thunder on Wheels days, then NACA, CAN, IASCA, and USAC I was about out of it then. Good times.
  18. Yep....exactly. I fixed that last line.
  19. Ouch? Apparently your personal preferences aren't the same as his. I think they look darn good. Great job!
  20. I've been a member of the Polk Audio forum about as long as I have been here. Kind of miss my SDA's occasionally. Funny how that forum can talk about pretty much anything including DIY, tinkering, tweaking, etc., and it doesn't seem to ruffle as many feathers. Maybe it does...who knows. Older Polks aren't made anymore yet for years, Polk went so far as to come up with new tweeter replacements for SDA, Monitor series, etc., and also the mid-woofers for the longest, to keep those speakers going. They may still even do it now. But, for so many to get butt hurt over changing and altering things on their own speakers that they bought new, or used, with their OWN money, that are 20 to 50 years old, that there are minimal replacement parts for, if any, is tiring. Hell, you can't even buy speaker grill emblems anymore for any of them without giving your serial number. And that's if they are even made anymore. I guess it's been said for years that "Klipsch isn't in the parts business". Ok....I was a manufacturers rep in a past career and I get that. But maybe they should be for such trivial trinkets and make that extra sale. If not, people will go elsewhere. Apparently they are worried about having their "emblems" put on things that have been modified or, God forbid, built from scratch and an emblem go on them. News Flash....3D printers. I get that people are what cause the ruckus and I agree that when it goes south, others need to step in and stop it as it is rather ridiculous. That is definitely a waste of time for moderators as people shouldn't be that way. This society seems to have gone to hell in a hand basket over the last few years, especially. My wife has been in dermatology for 19 years working with skin cancer doctors & surgeons and is a clinic manager and absolutely remarkable "seamstress of skin" that people will drive from hours and hours away because her stitching will leave no scars. Not to mention the stuff she can rebuild from an ear that's missing 50% of its "stuff" after cancer removal. But I swear...the way patients treat people in medical and what they think they are "deserving of" for treatment is absolutely absurd. Some need to be taken out back and whacked up side the head with a 2x4. I couldn't do her job. People need to chill out or this culture/society will never improve and we will implode are already imploding within.
  21. I get that, too. I took a screen shot of your comment just in case it comes up missing and I feel like using it elsewhere. Cheerleading....funny. I've used that term before with others as a descriptor of some here. Kind of like "self checkout"?
  22. That makes sense. It did seem to start going all over the place the last I saw with it...especially with him and the cap'n and then the speaker wire stuff.
