  1. You threw me there for a second. I was getting ready to take my CF-4's apart so I could extend my horns, just like yours. I couldn't live with myself if my CF-4's didn't have every possible upgrade. You had your ports extended to 5.75". I'm with you. Oops.... Corrected.
  2. As always, I'll add that I'm thoroughly happy with my v3 CF-3's and would take something major to replace them. They've had their crossovers reworked to as close to v1 as they can, re-braced internally, the backs re-attached, horns wrapped with medical Coban (not messy/stinky whatsoever), and ports extended to 5.75". I'll either buy or build a pair of Belle's but those will be used in a completely different room on low powered tube gear whereas my CF-3's are being ran by a completely rebuilt "BillD" Carver C-1 preamp and Carver M-1.0t MkII Opt 002 amplifier (rated at 460 wpc). They do love some power.
  3. Dude that would be awesome. I'm only a couple hours from Hope. Maybe this will work out. I appreciate that!
  4. I've gotten no response either.
  5. Are you referring to me? Hopeful at the moment. Waiting to hear from him. Still trying to figure out if someone is ahead of me. It would be nice to buy a pair instead of having to build.
  6. Found the listing. Yeah, $22.22 would be awesome! Anyone out that direction headed this way or even part way? I'll help with gas expense, etc. Man, too bad these weren't put up for sale during the last two weeks while I was off for Christmas break at school! We start back tomorrow! I would've just made the drive.
  7. I'll take them if I can figure out how to get them to Central Arkansas. PM sent Where are they on eBay? I only see the pair in North Carolina?
  8. Thus the reason I think it's a phishing ad.
  9. Jeez... Always so far away. Only Klipsch speakers that ever come up in Arkansas are overpriced.
  10. What type of wood are you working with?
  11. Actually, this is a proven marketing technique that gets attention. Another is to put "88" at the end of a price, either in dollars or cents. Oh I spent 30 years in Consumer Electronic retail, distribution and manufacturers rep for home/car audio/video/automation/etc so I get the marketing part. I know that's common for some places....but not average Joe Seller on Craigslist. First I've seen for something like this including when I lived in Dallas...except for bogus car sales ads that are phishing for phone numbers and email addresses. Maybe it's legit.
  12. Whenever they have those oddball prices for things on CL, especially cars, it makes me think it's a scam ad. Who puts an extra $6 on the end of the price? No one. On Little Rock CL car ads, you'll see them advertise cars like a 2014 Honda Accord EX with a 3rd row bench seat and low mileage for $2506. I'm beginning to think it's a racket among all of the CL scammers.
  13. Oh man, that's sad to hear. I saw them the first time back in maybe 1975 or so in my hometown at the college. R.I.P. Meadowlark
  14. I wish I could go back and edit my original thread title to be more for a economical Belle clone in general as the 3-way route may be what I do. :-/
  15. Seems like when I do searches on the K-77, I get results for upgrading them to the CT120 or 125, B&C DE110/120 with Eliptrac HF, or some other variant. I know that upper HF response is limited on the K-77's. I always like the K-77's, and still do, but my own upper HF hearing just isn't what it used to be since I have tinnitus. I'm over thinking things, most likely. If I stay go with using the K-55/Atlas driver with a horn similar in size to the stock Belle horn and use a tweeter the size of the K-77, I keep the drivers vertically aligned (not time aligned). If I go larger mid horn, it puts the tweeters on the inside or outside. It would seem beneficial to have them vertically aligned....or maybe it doesn't really affect things too bad.
  16. Can EV T-35 tweeters be upgraded as a worthy contender or are they to be avoided?
  17. That works. K-33, Crites, or Eminence 15C Plenty of good tweeters to choose from. B&C, Crites, Eminence etc. Enjoy your project. Dave Yes, definitely a lot to choose from. Thanks for your input, Dave.
  18. Sounds like it would be worth it to get a pair of K-55/Atlas PD-5VH mid drivers and call it good. Team those with the K-33's and a pair of Crites or EV tweeters and be done.
  19. Those Focal woofers are nice. I used those a lot back in my car audio days. I may end up starting with the JBL on top end with K-33 woofers for low end and see where that gets me. It'll be easy enough to change the top section if I decide to go another route later. What crossover did you go with? I would imagine I'll need to compensate for compression drivers. Thanks for the input.
  20. I've owned 2 pairs of Valencia's over the years. Wasn't impressed at all with either pair or the 811/806 combo on highs. Great midrange but that's about where it ended for me. Plus I'd have to hide those ugly horns.
  21. No thoughts on the JBL drivers or did I say a bad word in using those? It won't hurt with the mid and tweeter being side by side versus like they are with the original drivers?
  22. Glad to hear they've all made it in safe and sound. I tend to be picky on packing; I want things to arrive like I'd want to get them. Contribute that to my years in home/car audio where we had to return things for RMA's or when we shipped things to customers. I'll have 3 more of these to go soon but need to get 3 power supplies to go with them. Merry Christmas to all
  23. I apologize that it's taken me a bit to come back and update about the laptops...it's been crazy lately. Well, it "is" the Holidays, isn't it. School is out for 2 weeks so it's nice to have the time off from there and work on things around the house. But, changing front and rear valve covers on my daughters 2004 Nissan Maxima was not what I had planned on happening over the weekend. The leak had gotten worse and the smoke was coming out a little more so I researched it, bought all of the gaskets, new spark plugs, etc., and got it done. At 49, I'm not as fast as I used to be especially after carpul tunnel surgery on my right wrist back in March and my left one needing it worse. But what the hell...you gotta get things done....pain or no pain, sometimes. I spent 30 years in car audio so I know that's attributed to a lot of my arm issues. Tinnitus is from concerts, playing in bands, and loud music of course. I'm glad everyone's getting their laptops and you're pleased with them. They aren't the latest and greatest but they do get the job done for general things. Maybe not for streaming HD video, etc., but they make things that are. When I created the image, I let the Windows 10 thing install but if you want to remove it from coming up and reminding you, go into Windows update....View Update History....See Installed Updates....then sort by name....look for "Update for Microsoft Windows (KB3035583)" and right click it and choose uninstall then reboot. You'll have to check for updates again and, when it pops back up in the recommended updates, right click and hide it. If you have any questions about anything on them, please let me know. Thank you all for the knowledge that you contribute to this Forum, which has turned out to be my favorite hang out over the last few years. One of these days, I'll get my Klipsch Belle clones done in whatever iteration I decided to go with.....with the help and input of the great members here. Consider these laptops a way of repaying t he Karma forward. I'm hoping to have a few more done soon, too. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
