  1. These were my first Kipsch speakers, a local forum member got me into Klipsch about 8 years or so ago. After searching and finding a pair of Heresies in Seattle at the time, I had a buddy of mine ship them to me and when recieved they had damaged corners. I haven't done anything with the corners yet but long term is to get them veneered with some nice Lacewood. But, I would like to especially thank Mr. Crites and family for the risers, and new caps. I had a tweeter blown, after taking everything apart I found numours things wrong. Looks like someone some how got the diagram in backwards and the mid driver was wired backwards, with the crossovers replaced and the tweeter diaphragm replaced wow what a difference. I am glad when I bought a diagram locally a while back I bought 2 good thing. Heres a pic with the new risers, later on I will get every thing reveneered.
  2. thanks man. If you talk to your buddy in Iowa that sold me the Khorns, let him know they are up and running and sound great.
  3. heres the post in the tech section but I thought the more exposure would get me better results. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/158850/1679146.aspx#1679146 thanks Nick
  4. I have some questions on horn drivers, first I have a pair of k-55 how do I tell which post is positive and which is negative, there is a 1 and a 2 stamp beside the post. like post 1 and post 2. second I have some k-77 round magnet is the battery to the post to test a bad thing, or can I ohm them out or check continuity between them or ground. last between the k-77 round and the k-77 square what differences can I expect. thanks duder
  5. I don't think any off this will help but they do have a blog on it. Also if you want the listings to be organized a certain way you just click on the top colume. http://blog.audiogon.com/
  6. Can you save your "watching" ads on "My Page"? Bill I didn't even know you could save them before, wish I could tell you how now sorry.
  7. I have no problem with the search, I just don't care for the colors and layout. I can see were you guys are coming from.
  8. dido, I am not a pro. But I have taken some of the advice some of the pros have offered they can save you alot of money when you will be happiest with the sound and keeping things up and running properly. Good luck on your journey keep it spinning.
  9. I don't see anything Rebel. LOL Looks cool. O, by the way, those are 12 inch woofers and B&C compression driver(DE250)
  10. I have this table, did you pick it up. I put a good stylus on I will have to look it up were I got it from but for 30-40$ its a darn good stylus. I don't see anyproblems with the arm I am currently using it now.
  11. It took time but I have finally gotten through to hime how those bose blows.
  12. This is going for 75.00 on Amazon, I think he pulled the trigger didn't give me anytime to talk to him. But he will mainly only be playing garage sale vinyl. Now I just need to win a auction on a pair of Klipsch bookshelfs to prevent him from buing the sony speakers on Amazon. Thanks guys Nick
  13. A buddy of mine up in Alaska is looking for a entery level table to start with sounds like something under 100.00 would be on the top of his list. I was looking at the needledoctor and came across this. http://www.needledoctor.com/Audio-Technica-LP60-Fully-Automatic-Turntable-with-Switchable-Phono-Pre-amp?sc=2&category=46 I like how it has the built in phono pre amp, but don like that it has a proprietary moving-magnet phono cartridge. They list a replacement stylus but who knows how long that will be around. I would think if he doesn't go with one like this he will need to spring for a phono pre amp. Any other suggestions would be great. thanks Nick
  14. Pretty much your, reciever can make a difference in sound some like one brand over another. But if you like the sound now you will most likely like it when you up grade. A for the sub you might be fine for now I wouldnt worry to much untill you get in your new place. But it sounds like you are on the right path. And yes I would up grade that center as soon as you can after you upgrade your fronts.
  15. The hd500 is a sub and 5 channel plus sub set up this is a great entry level setup. Your Onkyo is a 7.2 so going with the f30s for your fronts I would move the mains that came with the hd500 setup to your surrounds, and your surrounds to your surround backs. But I would upgrade your center to the c20 so you have a good timbre match. Since your Onkyo seems to have 2 sub outs, you could go with only on sub which depending on your room size might be all right if not I would find either a matching sub or scrap the sub and and find 2 of the same. How big is your room, there are lots around here with many different setups in many different rooms and can tell you were money is best spent. But I must warn you if you have joined this forum all ready looking to upgrade you must have been bitten by the upgrade bug which means you will get bitten again. So drop the money and go with a all 7.2 Reference line setup, and put that hd500 in your bedroom, or donate it to a friend or family that you feel would appreciate good sound, plus you will need a close by friend to share your new hobbie and interest in. Hope I don't scare you away cheers and have fun.
  16. Thought about this as well, then I get to thinking would it just be easier to make new cabs.
  17. I can see what you mean by the rounded corners, do even the Kpts have pebble paint. I guess I thought that more along the lines of the touring speakers would have the pebble paint. But if so, does it take alot to sand it off, I was thinking if not being able to veneer maybe a high gloss black piano like finish.
  18. I am looking at picking up a couple pairs of Rigmas KPTs hopefully a pair of 200s and a pair of 100s. I was just wondering if they could be veneered in a nice wood veneer, how would they look. Also how about making some nice grills any ideas. Just sitting around wondering. Duder
  19. The bottoms are 7" deep. I got them from American Cinema. Roy put me in contact with them. I forget what they cost, but it wasn't cheap. BTW, look at the Garage sale section. Rigma has a whole bunch of cinema speakers for sale. Just went up. Not these, but previous KPT models and they might work for you. Prices are excellent. I just got a quote from a local cinema vendor they were around 650 each for what Rigma has you could buy 3 for that price.
  20. I can read the serial number on the tag and if I pulled the speaker out of the corner more I could read the stain, and wood type better. I can also read that it was made in hope Arkansas, in 1953. I do have another khorn knock off that was made very nicely in 1957 which is also sign by the builder, I was watching that fellow who was thinking of selling his dads with the pi finish. Maybe someday I will find antoher close the same year. I know if it sounds just as good it shouldn't be a big deal but the collector in me feels the need to have the actuall thing. Thanks for the input, now I just need to find someone local who can help me reveneer these.
  21. Does anyone have a list of the finish and style codes on these older models, I have a 53' I thought the style and finish code was f 7 or maybe f 2, The finish was actually raw from what I can read on the tag. Looks like someone stained it with a purplish stain.
  22. Went to the website this morning and they don't claim, they just don't sell 2.35:1 from what I can tell you might be able to custom order but looks like he might have just ordered what he had seen on the website which is 16.9:1. Sorry for any confusion.
