  1. Dale, Did you see my post in the Odd's and mods to your original thread? Just didn't want you to think I had anything against canadians. EJ
  2. You could also pick up an electronic crossover for a car stero and get a 12 volt transformer to use in the house. This would obviously be for the budget minded as I think you can pick up on for probably $60 after everything. Never tried it but maybe I will. It would work. Just a thought, maybe justin could use this to bi amp his jiffy-sub into his system. EJ
  3. Can't blame him on that one then. Not much of a cat lover myself. I was root'n for even before you told me that. EJ
  4. Good call Jmal. That is exactly why I get a little PO'd when some get so uptight on the subject of Amp selection. Amp's are definitlely something to think about and everyone has their own taste but they wont make or break a system the way the speakers do unless of course the amp is pure sh1t. Plus the amp is tweakable if you need to cut or boost, not so with speakers your stuck with what you got. Hell once there was a time when I played my Heresey's through this little Realistic reciever I bought when I was like 11. They sounded great, they lost a little punch after volume got up aways but hey it's the speakers. A good analogy for the Heresey's is they are 10lbs of sand in a 5lb bag. Beating a dead horse, EJ
  5. Justin, Do yoe have a preamp? Fabfrank has those Audio source monoblocks @$90 ea. Plus you could use them for something after college. I got 2 from him, Brand new recons but still decent price. Just a thought. EJ
  6. Crash, That logic makes ablsolutely no sense when when spending a decent amount of money on speakers that you are going to want to keep. EJ
  7. Mike, Sorry man, I haven't been putting you off because I do want to get over there and I still plan on takin you up on that other invite, plus I want to get out to Q's place to see his stuff but I have been going non-stop for the last couple months. With the addition, improvemets inside the new place, packing, fixing in the old place, pregnant wife, baby, 2 dogs, work, just seems like no time for anything. The highlights of my days is sneaking into the forum while at work. I am definitly going to get over there though. Soon I will be buggin you to get over to my place to see the setup in the new place. Did you get your amp fixed. Do you know what it was that caused it to go? Yea dad will be interested in getting rid of alot of the vinyl, of course I will get first pick on what I want to keep and there is stuff he won't want to get rid some. He definitly wants to seriously downsize the collection. Anyway I will give you shout on email when we get in and I can get you over or visa-versa. EJ
  8. Well my parents are moving here to Orlando. Last week my dad made a trip down here to drop off some stuff, which included his record collection. He was a DJ for about 25 years and has a huge collection. We unloaded about 15-20 boxes of records. I will probably be hooking up his turntable to my system once he gets everything unpacked in about a month. He has put alot of his vinyl on cd's. Let me know if there's something out there you just can't seem to find, he has got a decent amount of rare stuff. Most of collection is 60's, 70's & and early 80's. Let me know. One in particular I can think of is Bob Segar Smokin' OP's. Killer album. EJ
  9. If you think about putting these guys in a regular prison would probably be the worst for them. Put em' in general population. They wouldn't last long, probably wouldn't even be alive long enough for a good a$$ rapin'. Thank god it's over. I hope everyone in that area will rest easier now. I'm sure you guys in that area have a new appreciation for your life and the freedoms we have to go and do whatever you want whenever you want without feeling threatened. Just think about living over in the middle east, having to go through that kind of feeling everyday, never knowing whats going to happen, and for them it has become just a way of life. Not a supporter in any way of the towelheads over there that follow Bin Laden/Al Kida/Hussein but what about all the poor bastards that just can't do anything about it that live there? Half are so afraid they voted Hussien back in office agian, the other half have been brainwashed into thinking that what they are trying to do is good. I mean they know they could be wiped from exisitence in a moments notice by US, yet they are just buying whatever time they can. I remember when we used to be afraid of what Russia might do(Cold War Era), but at least then we knew that they would make rational decisions when it came to war, nuclear weapons, etc. and if the **** was going to hit the fan it wasn't going to last long. Now only God knows what is in store for everyone. May god be with all of us. Just so yu know I am not a big news watcher, just to much bad stuff going on all over the world and it's depressing. EJ
  10. Arent the RF series a little edgy to begin with? May be not a good match with Yamaha as from what alot say they seem to have those characteristics. I myself don't notice it but I do like a little more treble when I listen, I prefer not to listen flat. The eq etting for me would look like a U if you know what I mean. Anway isn't that what the tone controls are for or am I missing something here. If I am someone needs to expain. Seriously. EJ
  11. Ahh, yes USA ehh. But...many would question if North Dakota is in the US. I just left Fargo about 4-1/2 years ago. I lived there for 8 years, 6 of which I spent in college at NDSU. I now am almost as far south as I can go to get away from the cold. My entire family still lives in the North Country though. I think I am finally starting to lose the accent, at least people don't seem to give me sh!t anymore. Take off ehh, hoser. Stereotypically, EJ
  12. Dale, Now that is totally awesome. Who would of though a canadian would have thought of such a thing.LOL Welcome to the forum. I am now mad because I have Khorns but not like those. Paul is smiling down on you. EJ
  13. Does DC Area(Virginia) have the death penalty? If not they had better make an exception when they catch them. Strong and swift action is the only way to deal with people like this. EJ
  14. Speakers, Speakers, Speakers! The amp will only sound as good as the speakers that are reproducing what it puts out. You could have the best amp in the world and still not get good sound if the speakers aren't doing their job. Thus you shall buy all Klipsch, Hertage line preferably. Noting that Klipsch speakers could make an amp sound worse, but only because it is more accurately reproducing a tainted signal that is being fed to them. EJ
  15. BBB, Yea, iguess it turned out that way. Ididn't know they were like brand new when I actually bought them on Ebay. If ound out after visiting with the guy when I picked them up so I knew he wasn't just feeding me a line of crap. Yea the system isn't bad, not as great as some of what the guys here on the board have but I have been building on it for along time. I mean I got heresey's in I think 90' the Corn's in 97' and the most recent purcahse of the Khorns. I am moving into a new house and I will post some pics of the setup. Anyway thanks for noticing the system. EJ
  16. Your amp will run any speakers Klipsch has to offer to very acceptable levels. The Yamaha is a quality amp. I had a 5250 before I bought my RX-V1 and I ran K-horns,Cornwalls, Hereseys, and KSF 8.5's with it. No problems. Obviously the speakers could take more but I didn't have nay compliants. I would suggest something in the Heritage line, but then agian I would suggest the heritage line even if you running extra speakers off of your boombox as even the boombox would power up a set khorns to decent levels. Keep in mind Klipsch speakers a very efficient so it takes very little power to reach decent levels. When you start talking about cranking out some serious bass out of them that's another story bass takes power regardless of speaker brand howerever klipsch do a good job of being efficient with bass also. EJ
  17. People were still sitting behind their commodore 64 when I bought my first set of Klipsch. At that time I doubt Klipsch ever thought they would be making computer speakers, hell I don't even think computers had speakers then. However I hope it's not a trend, now it's only computer speakers, then it will be the lower lines, before you know it it'll be reference series and quality will start to drop off. I can guarentee though as long as klipsch keeps selling heritage you will never find a set of Khorns in Circuit City. I remember when I first saw a set of Klipsch(I don't remeber which type) that were not the real solid wood ones, like the MDF board style and I was like what the hell are they doing. I mean When I first bought my klipsch I was thinking "Now this is a piece of furniture that sounds great, very well built." I was very disappointed but I guess if they want to stay in business they have to diversify their product lines so that they can reach as many potential buyers as possible. They key here is not to let quality lack regardless, especially if they are putting the klipsch name on it. I think if they do want to break into the circuit city type market they need to develope a new name to put on the speakers but not klipsch, do not even associate them with the klipsch name. Hell, 99.9% of people who shop at circuit city for speakers have no idea what klipsch is anyway. EJ
  18. You got plenty of time to get a bike now as winter is setting in up there. I have a Motobecane, ever heard of them? Me niether until I bought it about 4 years ago. All aluminum, Full susp, Lifetiume warranty on the frame. EJ
  19. I assume this is the link. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1392079195 I'm sorry I can't as they are not close enough to home for me to travel at this particular time. They look quite nice though. From what I can tell a mint set of Khorns are going for around $2500 to $3000 on Ebay. I bought mine off of ebay for I think $2750 and they are mint in fact the guy that I got them from had them in an art gallery. He bought them specifically for an art show used them once and never used them again. He said they probably had maybe 70 hours on them total. They were built in 89' with the AK-2 Xover, black and in mint condition. Some of the guys on the BB sure do seem to find dome deals on these beasts though. I think some have got them for $500, what a steal. EJ
  20. What the....I didn't know that bastard was watchin me all those times. That's me! Soon I will post my own website and document the stuff that uptight ahole does. I mean he washes off the driveway after he mows the grass washing all of those clippings in front of my house and all day long all I hear is that stupid weedwacker or leafblower or some other kind of lawn equipment buzzing away. He lets that little yipper dog out to tourment my dog I mean its no wonder Spike hates them not to mention they way his damn kids tease Spike. And he wants to talk about me and my christmas lights. He has so damn many lights up every time they blink the whole neighborhhod expiriences a short brown out. Some people are just so damn uptight, I mean I'm not tring to infringe on his rights as a homeowner, it just happens to be working out that way. He needs to mind his own damn business and if my music is too loud at night I apologize to him. I mean two parties and he calls the police both times! Come on man lighten up. I can see if it was an every weekend thing but jeez. Anyone want some fresh spices? I am also looking for a good deal on a slightly used hibatchi. I will trade for my new book I just wrote 101 uses for metal coat hanger. EJ

  22. I run 2 heresy's in parallel for a center on my RX-V1. Sounds great and no problems. I have to disagree with the notion of them canceling. Common sense would tell me that if this was true than any monoral sorce played out two speakers or even identical sound that is reproduced in stereo out of L-R speakers would cancel itself out. What about center channels with 2 drivers? Technically they are reproducing the same sounds, wouldn't they then cancel each other out? Using 2 heresey's is no different than using a center with with two drivers. Please correct me if I am wrong as this seems to be an ongoing question. EJ
