  1. I will definitely post pictures once it is complete. Right now I am working out the details on how I am going to mount the Lascalas, Cornwalls and Hereseys from the ceiling. After work today I am going to go home and finish installing the blocking in the ceiling. I have drafted everything out in autocad how they are going to hang and and the angles. Originally I wanted to hang them so that you can not see the hangers but I couldnt figure out a way to safely do it without having to screw into the cosmetic portions of the speakers or tottaly beefing up the internal structures and then modifiying the backs and bottoms to accept hangers. I have settled on hanging them from 3/4" stainless steel coil rod thru ss angle. I am going to catch the fronts with a peice of SS angle with the lip to catch and allow them to tilt forward and then I will reverse the angle and the back and it will just support verticle forces. I am not exactly sure if I will pait the rod or cover it with something, but in the end it is going to be trick. Fini, Yea, I love the 45A. No complaints. It sounds and looks great with all formats. EJ
  2. Yeh I am so excited. I feel very lucky to have the system that I have. It all started with a pair of Heresey's about 12 years ago and now its finally becoming my dream system. I am lucky that I have a wife that will allow me to do it. I mean we are building an addition and she is letting me have my own room that is 25'x 30' just for HT and a pool table in the rear. It seems like it was just ysterday that I was in college, living in my parents basement, and driving a rusted out blazer and now I have all of this. I must have done something right because God is definitely watching over me. In 1 1/2 months we will blessed with our second child which incidentally will be another boy. EJ
  3. Just ordered the Dual SVS Ultra's w/S1000 and the Black Box. The HT room will be complete in a few weeks and I am psyched. EJ
  4. ProDj, I will place the first order. I want 2 SVS Ultra copies. Of course I will pay upon delivery. Please also provide proven specifications so I can compare them. Also what will my warranty be? Do you take Discover? So how much were you going to sell those for again? But wait, I'm not sure if I want to buy them yet. Can you please send me a picture of them with the specifications. Thanks, EJ "You can do it!" - Rob Schnieder
  5. I had a heresey fall about 5 feet off of a shelf due to sub bass. It rolled the corner a little but nothing major, insides were fine. My heart stopped when I saw it falling though. EJ
  6. I spent the first 20 minutes of the movie trying to figure out if I had something connected wrong. The color is also very washed out at times. I felt like the red driver for the compnent video was unplugged. After I figured it had to be the movie I didn't have a problem with it after a while, it just bugged the sh1t out of me in the begining. I had just watched SW Episode II a couple days before which is sooooo clean. EJ
  7. Justin, The bedspread adds alot of fung shway(????) to the place.LOL Josh, Did you ever touch base with Mike L. about hooking up and seeing each others systems? EJ
  8. Fu*king Awesome!!! Excuse my French, but I am very happy. EJ
  9. Jim, That's terrible news. Hopefully it will be for the better and you will find a job that you like better than Quizno's. I've heard that Wal Mart is a pretty good place to work for and that they have very good benifits. Keep your chin up and your spirits high. Good Luck, EJ
  10. Just saw it last night and liked it a lot. Is it just me or is the video on this movie grainy? I felt like I was watching something that was shot in the 70's and they pulled the tape from the archives and transfered it to DVD. Just wondering. EJ

  12. Check out BIC. They are very good sounding speakers for a good price. Of course I reccomend these only if you decide not go go with the Klipsch. I had a pair from their Venturi line back in like 88' and I loved the way they sounded. I checked their website a couple months ago and saw that they had very reasonable prices on full HT systems. Do a yahoo searc for BIC Venturi to find the website. EJ
  13. fini, If this is a life I don't want one.LOL Just been real busy, between my parents that just moved from up north here to Orlando, spending time with my 1 yr old, a pregnant wife and building a new addition, I have been busy. Last weekend I worked until 11pm on Sunday night finishing up the wiring in my addition. I have everything wired for sound in the HT room and the bedroom. I have everything wired in the walls which are block which makes putting in boxes a bit of a chore since you have to bust out block to get them in. The bedroom is set up for 5.1 and the HT room(25'x30'9.33') is set up for 6.1(with front effect speakers = 8 speakers total) and a rear sub output in the rear wall. I also installed all kinds of RF loops for running the satelite into the bedroom and other parts of the house from the same reciever and installed zone 2 audio outs to the bedroom from the main reciever in the HT room. In all I ran about 425 lf of 9ga speaker wire and about 650 lf of coax. I have it all neatly nailed up in the attic. I have also advised my electrician that he is to keep all electric wires away from my wires so that no interference can be induced in them. I am so pumped, I can't wait to get my stuff in there. We are hoping that it will be ready to move into the first part of January. I still have to figure out how I am going to mount all of my big Klipsch from the ceiling(except for the Khorns, of course). Anyway to the question. I haven't played any DVD-A or SACD because I don't have any yet, so nothing to report there. However, on regular DVD's - Yes the bass is better since you can punch up the sub out with the level control, however I prefer to listen with the Digital cable since I am able to utilize the listening environments and the front effects of the receiver. Obviously I will not have this option on SACD or DVD-A since I will have to use the 6 channel outs. As I said though the sound from the 6 channel outs is great. With no effects running on the amp and swithcing between the two outputs there was not a real noticeable difference in sound, maybe just a little bit of difference in gain, the 6 channel sounded a little weaker, but this can be compensated for by bumping up the volume a touch or tweaking the internal gains of the Pioneer. EJ
  14. Good call BBB, that is what I was just going to suggest until I realized that you had just said it. It must be the tv although that is very strange. Is it possible to get some kind of a wicked nasty ground loop in the video that is causing the signal to bounce around before it gets to the tv? EJ
  15. This weekend I got a little alone time so i was cranking up the system and decided to turn the meter on. I was peaking the rat shack meter set on the 120db position with averages around 117db. It was a little lound but still sounded good. I was listening to some blues and there was a snare drum that hit every third beat. Every time it would hit the meter would just peg. That is the power of the lascalas and there impressive mids, so tight. The Lascalas are more sensitive than the Khorns, at least at high volumes. I checked them against each other without adjusting volume and I was getting higher spl's out of the lascala's by about 4 db. I love the mid range/mid-bass from the lascala's. EJ
  16. Imasndtek, Check your optical cable. I have had that problem before and it was the optical cable. The audio lags the picture. I thought it was my reciever(Old sony I used to have) also. I had it checked by service tech 2 times. They left it on continously for 3 days and monitored it and could not find any problems. I finally linked it to a cheap optical cable. After I replaced the cable with a decent one I never had the porblem agian. Hope this helps. EJ
  17. Fini, Sorry it took so long to post reply. I am so busy during the weekends I don't really even get a chance to think about the BB, however I did get a chance to do a little listening this weekend. My comments on the 45A. You can switch the front speakers to small. It does not really have bass management but rather speaker management. You can adjust levels for every speaker including the sub when when you use the 6 channel outputs. You can also tell it how far you are from each speaker but I have no idea what this is for. I have mine set at the default of 10'. It has a plethera(sh!t load) of menus and features. It has great picture management also. You can adjust everything about the picture pretty much the same as you adjust your tv. As far as the DVD section goes the picture is great, progressive scan works great and looks great. I really like how when using prog scan you can adjust sharpness to what you TV will handle without overdriving the guns. You can really dial the picture in to the way you want it. The audio side of it sounds great too. It sounds better than anything I had to demo against it. Sound was more detailed and open, surprisingly noticeable. My RX-V1 has the top notch Burr-Brown DAC's(10 of them) in so I also comared using digital out vs. 6 channel out using internal Burr-Brown DACs(3x2 whatever that means) on the unit. I really could not tell a difference. The Burr-Brown DAC's in the unit sounded great. Thats pretty much all I have to report to date. If I come across any other tidbits I will share. EJ
  18. fini, Thanks for the info on the warranty. I will have to give Etronics a call and *****. They have a disclaimer on their website that says they are autorized dealers of everything except Yamaha and Dennon if I remember right. They went on to say that those two companies do not allow sales of their products at unauthorized sales prices or something like that. Anyway I did not see anything about Pioneer. Either way, I am happy. Hopefully I will not have any problems with it if I do not have the warranty. When you pay $450 for a dvd player you gotta hope that the damn thing will last at least 2 years without any problems but we'll see. EJ
  19. When surfing some of the "other" audio boards I ran across this thread. Give it a read. http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=18815 I noticed a person named Colin that responded to this original thread. Is that our Colin? Needless to say whoever that Colin was he wanted the post permanently erased from that BB for whatever reason. EJ
  20. Dale, Oh Sh!t, wrong thread would have been sufficient.LOL EJ
  21. Fini, I bought it from www.etronics.com. It was $423 + $22 shipping. I am not sure if this was the best online price but they are authorized dealer so all warranty is there. I was very pleased with the delivery and it was a hassel free transaction. Anyway, I got it yesterday and hooked it up last night. After muddling through all of the configuarations which wasn't bad i got everything the way I want it. This thing has so many option on it. It is really a great unit. I haven't holoked up the 6 ch outs yet but I like the fact that it has speaker management for these outputs. The picture quality was very impressive on my 61" HDTV ready Hitachi. After comparing DVD I found that the Xbox has a surprisingly good picture and sound but it isnt as good as the progressive scan Pioneer. The picture from the Pioneer was awesome, no bleeding at all, I mean zero, the poicture seemed to be as good as HDTV. We also compared the sound of it with a audio cd with my Xbox(Which I had been using for CD/DVD). My wife and I thought the Pioneer was a little smoother sounding and more open sounding than the Xbox. For the money I think the unit was well worth it. It will play almost all types of media, has tons of features, great DAC,s and video chips, and gives you alot of options to fine tune your system. I will report more as I get a chance to play it more. EJ
  22. Q, Either that or I would have tried to convince you to let me take another pair of LaScala's off of your hands.LOL EJ
  23. fini, 200 bucks for a 6 channel switcher is way too much. You can build one for much less but you will have to switch each shannel separately(Each channel has it's own independent switch). I have been thinking of building one myself. I should be getting my DV 45A today so I will post how it works/sounds once I have a chance to fart around with it. I need to go get some DVD-A and SACD material, maybe this weekend. EJ
  24. Adam, I always will choose the coax over the optical if I have the option. I personally hate those optical cables. As far as sound goes you will notice no difference, its a digital signal, its wither there in full or it's not there. The problem with the optical cables are that they are somewhat sensitive to bending and loops. I believe the only plus the optical cables have over coax is that there is no chance of electrical interference, however I have never expirienced any with coax. I have however had problems with optical cables. In short, in won't matter which you decide to use. EJ
  25. I ordered the Elite DV 45A last week. I will let you guys know how it is when I get it. EJ
