  1. Just got back from the bar.... had a Dirty Bombay Saphire Martini and some hot wings. ... Is it friday yet???
  2. I got feed up with doing the HTPC thing. Once i got my PS3, all I had to do was enabled streaming services off my NAS, and done. No hassle.
  3. I think I could use a Capt Private Stock and Coke to help me clean up my room. Need to go through a lot of junk...and stop being a pack rat.
  4. Found this funny FAQ about the movie. Yeah it tells the who story, but funny. Has language, but safe for work. http://www.toplessrobot.com/2009/06/bonus_robs_transformers_2_faqs.php?page=1
  5. What if they where? would it make a difference? Companies come out with new products all the time. If you keep waiting you will never buy. The custom-2's are a steal for $80imho. Couple co-workers have them now.
  6. Finally got to see it last night. Digital Projection and Klipsch sound system(1st time experiencing the Cinema gear actually) at the beautiful Ziegfeld in NYC. I went in with semi-low expections after hearing people mention the horrible critic reviews, and one of my firends told me it was terrible. A few people said they liked it, and some of my friends wouldnt say anything to me till after I saw it. I did like it, and thought it was good overall. A little long, yeah, but it didn't feel dragged out in my opinion. The pace was good and lots of robot action. For action movies I have seen this year I would rate them best to worst as follows. Star Trek, Transformers, Terminator, XMen: Wolverine. The CGI is imho jaw dropping and must see on Digital Projection. Sound was very well done too. The details in the sounds from them transforming and fighting really help make you think it is real. The surround sound work wasn't overly done, but just right. I am tempted to go see it again, as their is a lot to take in, but this should definately be Refernence Material when it comes on Blu-Ray. (I heard it took over 140TB of storage for the film compared to 70TB for the first one.) Anyone else?
  7. The Wood Logo plaque is the closest thing I think you can get now. http://www.klipsch.com/na-en/products/klipsch-wood-logo-overview/
  8. Sad week with McMahon, then the 'Angel' and now the 'king of pop' Wasn't ahuge fan, but did like some of his songs.
  9. I had an older version of this. VideoraiPod Touch Convertor. It's free, but loads some ads within the application. Thats ok by my standards, its simple to use. Does more then just iTouch. Again, have and old version, don't know what has changes for good/bad in new one.
  10. Both of the apps need to be paid for....looks like a commercial. Coytee, I have an app at home that I got for freee. Was more of less one step too if I remembered. I'll try and look it up tonight when I get home.
  11. About to leave work(just after 8PM EST) and goto a bar with coworkers. All I know is that I am not paying. Gotta love a train ride home after.
  12. Just got back from the bar. Had 'Capt. Morgan w/ Ginger Ale' and 20 hot wings.
  13. . Nope. I'll be drinking tonight. Could have used one last night

    Terminator 4

Ditto. I preferred Star Trek over the T4. I was happy with it. Kind annoyed I didnt see it in a Digital Projector theatre.
  15. Just saw this. That's pretty awesome deal. Thanks.
  16. I walk everyday with my X10 images. I use my shoulder back to act as a clip to hold the cable against my chest. This pretty much eliminates 99% of the microphonics for me. If I leave the cable dangling down to my ipod, which I keep in my pants pocket, then yes, I do get a fair amount of microphonics as the cord keeps bouncing off my body. I've got a little clip to attach to my shirt for when I don't have the back and walking, plus if your doing any sort of activity, it makes it less likely for the cord to get snagged on something. I've have mine for a good long time, and they have taken some 'abuse' in the subway here in NYC during rush hour. The eargel seems to always stay attached when the headphones get yanked out by someone turning with a backpack on or something. No gels lost yet. *knocks on wood*
  17. From ....du du du..... wikipedia: Lets look at the William Thompson & Joseph Hickey, 2005 classifications: "Lower Middle Class (32%)....$35-75k" "Upper Middle Class (15%)....commonly above5 figures($100k)" "Upper Class (1%)...$500,000+ common" Lets look at Leonard Beeghley, 2004 defintions of... "Middle Class (46%)(the majjority)...typical man making $57k" Back to the top of the Wiki entry.. for Household_income_in_the_US : (2005 cenus) $0-25k......28.22% $25k-50k....26.65% ...national median $44,389 (50%) $50k-75k....18.27% $75k-100k...10.93% $100k+.......15.73% Looking at the $100k+ bracket(15.73%): $100k-149k...9.89% $150-199k.....3.17% $200-249k.....1.17% $250k+........1.50% Opinion: Now, looking at things across the country, the US....making $250k is no way middle class when you fall into the top 1.5% of money makers in the country...*cough* basicall your making more money then 1 other person out of 100 people next to you (if we randomly picked a room of 100 people from across the US)....especially when country median is $45k or say 50 out of the 100 in that room. Again, this doesn't take into account your location at all.
  18. To Stephen and HiFi jim's point. Like a few other area's, $250K in the metro area of NY is not a lot for a family. You need to make atleast $150k to sustain a married couple in one of the cheaper houses...and those people consider themselves 'house poor' (borrowing that phrase from a co-worker). Look at what they say the median price of a house is in the US....what like $180K. Median price of a house on LI in NY is over $400k. This is 'the cheapest' house in my neighborhood. By no means is the neighborhood the nicest or the worst area, and your area 3hour a day commute into and out of Manhattan. That commute will cost you currently over $300 a month in train tickets, and they are raising commuting costs by 25% come June! Yes I can find houses cheaper further away from NYC, but there becomes a point where the commute length becomes to overwhelming. $250k in the metro area, middle class? Yes. Other areas? Depends on area.
  19. Ok. So I have a pair of KHO-7's installed on my boat in the wheelhosue. These speakers are 8ohm. Now I am driving them with a Jensen VM9412 headunit. Most car audio equipment is 4 Ohm and the KHO-7's are 8Ohm. This isn't really a problem, as well I am just cutting down the max wattage by about 1/2 with the increased resistance. So we get like 20W peak vs 40W and 6W vs 13W RMS. The speakers sounded awesome last year. Now I have some small holes near the floor in the wheel house that use to hold the old speakers. They are like 5 1/4"s. I was thinking of looking for a set of marine/weather speakers to put in them that where 8Ohm and hooking them up in parrallel so that I would create a 4Ohm load. Normally I wouldn't have an issues with this if I was doing this with a pair of identical speakers, such as subwoofers. My fear is the actual Ohm resistance of two different speakers in parallel and how the amp would behave since each speaker would have different resistances across the frequency spectrum. I can't use the other channels(rear) as they are hooked up to a set of 4Ohm speakers already inside the cabin. Am I over thinking this or is this something I should be conserned for the speaker and amps's well being. Thanks, Dan
  20. Ordered. Jeesh. Bob got his already?! Not even two days after Amy posted.
  21. Just found this. Sincethe results aren't posted yet, I'll throw in my two inexperienced ears. Im listening to this off my work PC, first round was crappy work Creative hadphones into the crappy logitech speakers. Second round of listening was my Klipsch Images headphones right into the jack on the pc....so much better, no noisy floor. This second round is where I am making the comments below from. Have to discard the first round of listening. Wish I had to headamp pico w/DAC but that is at home. File1. (6:17min file) - feels like your at the piano - imaging is very envoloping, but something is weird about it. I would expect less movement in the imaging(@ say starting ~3min) with some of the segments...un-natural sounding form what i would expect having sat infront of a piano(from memory). - my guess is that is is not closely micd due to the above comment I made, but then again, those qualities may be a resultant of such as I am not a recoridng engineer. - i feel like the pianoist is playing facing the audience. Back to curtian with us able to see his face. - slight buzz sound form a lot of higher notes out of left. File 2. (4:21 file, clapping at end.) - Definately a wider stage then File1. - Most sound comes out of right center. - Get some highs 'echoing' out of the left. - pianoist back to to the audience or more likely he is 'seated on the left side of the stage' where we would see him on left and piano to the right. - mic'ing seems to be more open in the the 'likes of stage mics'. I would feel that File2 would be more natural if I in the room with someone playing the piano. I would think that the Sterophiles did File1 as they would most likely want to exaggerate on the imaging. I would say our Amerateur did File2, which closer to what I would expect from micing a piano for its imaging.
  22. The better the source material, the better it will sound....talking about the mp3 really. less compression, higher-bit-rate. Will definately make help let you notice a difference.
  23. If the speaker works when not plugged into the PC, then it is most likely a driver issue. You may need to change a setting within the sound card.
  24. Wall streert works in 'weird' ways. If the division of the company you work for(says 10 people), say ABC, made 2 billion this year for the company, yet a differenet division lost 10 billion. What incentive does the company have to keep you if both divisions are on equal footing. This is one of those arguements. How about this. So instead of getting a bonus at year end, lets call it an 'overtime' check. Or what if they take what they made as base+salary last year, and that now becomes you base. No more bonus's, but you still make the same. Tons of ways to play games. I'm not saying I for any of it or agree, but this is just stuff I see, and stuff I think of.
