  1. A modern multichannel AVR with preouts would serve you well if you want to simplify. You could use your preouts to still use one or both of your 555s, and use the AVR's center channel. But, switching the AVR to "stereo" mode will put you back into 2 channel for the K-horns at anytime you desire. With the modern AVR in the loop, you can easily elect 2 or 3 channel (or more depending on the AVR) with the AVR's remote. I run 11 channels . . . K-horn fronts, Belle center, Belle side surrounds, La Scala rears, and Heresy wides and heights. I often simply listen to music just 2 channel on the K-horns rotating an Adcom 555 or PL 400 on the AVR preouts for critical listening. But I'd like classic rock in multichannel mode. With a speaker/amp switcher and a Scott 299 C in the mix, I can listen to vinyl on the K-horns in the configuration by simply pressing a button on a remote, switching the amp from the AVR to the Scott tube amp. A modern AVR with preouts would let you do what you desire in the simplest fashion.
  2. Nice decorators . . . A single center Heresy I would be a perfect center match.
  3. Shaun, So glad, first of all, that you are still alive! That is the first blessing. Now praying for more blessing and a full recovery with time and healing, surrounded by loved ones and knowledgable caring health care professionals. Billy
  4. Hey, Dave . . . I tried the Mohu 50 amplified indoor and only got one fuzzy channel.. I bought the outdoor in the link I posted (for less) and got over 20 clear channels. But, to be fair, I am 40 miles and hills and hollers away from the HD channels in Atlanta. And, I have HDTVs all over the house and needed a one antenna solution for all of them. The Mohu is basically one antenna for each TV. So for less than one Mohu 50 I got the one antenna which serves 5 TVs in the house (I could do 8 in my current setup, or do 2 HD FM channels or stream OTA to a server too to record). To be fair, I gave the Mohu to my daughter who lives in downtown Atlanta and only has one HDTV and it worked great for her since she is only 5 miles from most of the major broadcast antennas. Billy
  5. Hey, Artto,Do not desire to muddy the waters on your thread. But my recommendation is for you to consider the Denon 4520ci on closeout. Buy it from an authorized dealer(and get 3 year warranty (4 years with the right credit card) and it would serve you well and has all the bells and whistles (except Atmos which would not be needed in your application). This is an amazing bargain for Denon's most recent flagship discontinued model: http://www.accessories4less.com/make-a-store/item/denavr4520ci/denon-avr-4520ci-denon-s-flagship-home-theater-receiver-150wpc/1.html?gclid=CN_V-fn4xcMCFUY9gQodwqkAoA Who knows, you might even find it for less. Just something to consider in your venture into HT. I have the DENON 4311 (the precursor of the 4520) and could not be happier with an all Heritage 11 channel HT. In my experience, Denon and Klipsch go well together. I have a Pioneer Elite in my secondary 7 channel setup. I also like the Pioneer sound.
  6. I tried the Mohu and sent it back.In my research of the antenna I eventually bought, it is short enough, that many people were putting it in their attic. I first put my antenna in the rafters in our open loft area which is the wife's home office. But we live in a log cabin with no attic! Just open rafters and cathedral ceilings up through the 2nd story. The wife said either me or the antenna (which she argued did not fit the rustic decor) had to live outside . . . so the antenna lost.
  7. Just an FYI . . . Here is the outdoor antenna I bought after doing a lot of research . . . has been an excellent investment since there are many Appalachian foothills between me and the Atlanta stations about 40 miles away. I get many channels and outstanding reception OTA for HDTV. This antenna is motorized by a remote control so the direction can be maximized. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002MW0K22/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Here is the antenna mount I got: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00068YUN4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 And here are some other goodies that completed the job: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0016AIYU6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008P5OT3G/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 My wife is a slow adopter and was skeptical about cutting the cord, but now loves OTA coupled with streaming services of Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Amazon Prime and will not go back to paying for cable ever again. 2 weeks without cable paid for all of my OTA hardware for all of the free broadcasts! My elderly mother is stating with me. She has that stupid Uverse for about 4 years and rents all of the equipment boxes for phone, router, extra wifi box, and 3 different boxes for wireless connection to 3 tvs and a stupid flip phone for a cell. Her bill is about $350 a month. I almost wigged out. Since Mom got here for her rehab, we upgraded her to an iPhone 6 Plus and connected an AppleTV to the HDTV in the kitchen where we have a TV. She loves it! She is eager to get home and cut the cord. I am ordering her the same antenna as above, even though she lives in a flatland area and only 15 miles from all of the metro stations in Indianapolis. Edit for PS: since this is an HT thread, I use an optical out cavle to the DENON 4311 for OTA broadcasts with an excellent viewing result and also some HD radio which comes via the OTA antenna too.
  8. "We cut the cord" last May when we both go iPhone 5s. I already had a 3rd gen AppleTV and a Roku 3. Bought a $65 outdoor antenna, and I attached it to the porch. I bought R6 cable and ran it to the amplified cable junction box in the basement (we have 5 TVs in the house). Unhooked the cable company cable from the amplified junction box and screwed in my new OTA antenna cable in. Then ran the cable company's R6 cable from the outside box connection to my cable modem and WAP for Internet service. Cancelled everything (cable TV and Internet phone) and saved $200 a month, $2400 a year. With OTA, Hulu Plus, Netflix, Amazon Prime (total about $25 a month) and some direct free programming that many broadcast or cable programs offer after an episode airs (e.g., CBS), we have more TV options than we could ever imagine. And . . . it can all be controlled from an iPhine, iPad, or an LG Pad. The only bad part? Wished I had done it a couple of years earlier and saved more money, especially since the OTA broadcasts look and sound amazing in HD. Next step is to use some of the monthly savings to buy and install a large, homebrew media server. I get about 25 channels and I am 40 miles from most of the stations with a lot of hills and hollers in between.
  9. Alright, Michael, I will start the "hounding". :-) Jubs or K-horns ... which to keep for your 2 channel setup? Jubs can be had new or used again someday if you wanted. And the Jubs you describe, while I am sure are beauties in themselves, they just are not NIB 60th anniversary only 200 pair made serial #7s . . . Etc. I encourage to keep the anniversary K-horns for your premiere 2 channel setup . . . so that I can see/hear them when I come visit you at the House of Klipsch sometime in Indy on one of my visits back home! Those K-horns are beautiful and sonically exciting, in addition to being unique. But you know all that better than me . . . you own them! The only downside, the 60th Anny K-horns NIB are twice the market value of the Jubs. that extra 5K selling the K-horns instead of the Jubs would be tempting . . . but, you would always be saying, "hey, I almost put 60th anniversary K-horns here in my 2 channel setup, but I like these Jubs fine too." So, when you go into your 2 channel room a year from now, will you want to remember you had 60th anniversary K-horns that almost made it in there, or will you be so happy with the Jubs, that you will get the cash and remember them no more? Which pair is easier to forget? Just my 2 cents, Bro. Looking forward to see what you decide. Congrats on the TV score and sounds like you are putting together an awesome HT setup!
  10. Ok, in search for a very solid deal on a RC-62ii, thanks. Then 2 pairs of RB-61ii's for the side and rear surrounds. What did you ever decide for a center?I had an RF82/RC62/RS52/RB61 setup for four years before going to an all Heritage HT. My big mistake in the first setup was the RC62 with the RF82s. When I cracked movies and music up, the center channel had to be bumped up and never could quite keep up with the RF82s. It was like the RC62 just did not have enough . . . I had to throttle back the RF82s to keep a balance. Then, when I would turn volume down because the wife went to bed, I had to tweak the center channel down. It was always at doublespeak balancing act with the RC62 paired with RF82s for me. If Imstill had the Raf82s and a large area, there is no way I would settle for an RC62--I would have the RC64, a close enough timber match to the RF84s not to even think about it. With a large room, you can only turn an RC62 so far; I find it preferable to turn an RC64 down to running out of headroom on my center as compared to my fronts.. . . The RF82s will go father in volume than an arC62. Is an RC64 technically overkill with RF82s? Yes, unless you are frustrated like I was. Many people run an RC64 with RF82s to avoid annoyances in large rooms at higher volume. Take another look at the RC64 if you have not already purchased an RC62, especially for your large space. Just IMO. PS....I am in Atlanta too.
  11. Alex, your father was truly the most interesting man on the Klipsch forum. Kevin educated us, infected us with his passion for music and family, and made us laugh with his posts so very often, brightening our days and threads, Your Dad gave to us all--he brought us all in as extended family through his keen wit and music passion. As one of our patriarchs of passion and joy, he will be sorely missed, but will continue to challenge and encourage us all through his archived posts. Though our loss in the Klipsch family can barely compare to the loss you and your family feel, your extended family here in the forum feel we have lost a true gift in your father. My prayers for you and your family in the now and through the days ahead. May God rise up the stories of joy Kevin has hidden your heart and the hearts of your immediate family members, and give you all the opportunity to share them in these early days. Prayers, Billy
  12. I survived the two bathroom deep cleaning yesterday with lungs in tact. Lovely wife came home from work and thanked me over and over. She said in front of my mother, "I have never had any man clean a house for me like that before." (To be fair to me, we have only been married for 17 years). I responded, "Well, I have never been a kept man before with the woman as the primary breadwinner nor have I ever been somebody's trophy husband before." I hope I have not set a precedent, unless it is to only clean the bathrooms once every 17 years!
  13. Happy New Year, all! Duder, hope your son is doing better with the tonsils out. Rough way to start the new year for a kid. Non-scientific studies reveal Popsicles and PS4 promote faster healing--I read that on the Internet somewhere, so it must be true! ;-)
  14. Same thing I cooked last night but with 10 here will have to cook again tonight. Going to make a fire outside by the bar, maby I can talk them into hotdogs on the fire ?...... You can probably talk them into dogs, if you get the stuff to also do s'mores. And if you had s'mores, myself, I would skip the dogs! Doing both, so no cooking for me, I don't know why but I love dogs. On the outside of the bar we have stainless coat hangers straightened except for the end curve, they stay hanging in one spot as it's a regular thing to do this in the winter, much less in summer. The wood is all ready and set up just needs to be lit when ready so I have nothing to do the rest of the day. Got a smoker, a nice grill, and a big fire pit just off the porch. I am always foraging the forest floor around the house for marshmallow and dog sticks. Note to self: forage the house for stainless steel coat hangers. Thanks for the tip. :-)
  15. Floor drain? Plan foiled again. Guess I use a mop, rather, scrub brush. And 4 or 5 of the 20 different cleaners my wife has stashed under the kitchen sink. Cover me . . . I am going in. "Incoming!"
  16. Everyone, please bow your heads for a moment of silent prayer for me. I am going in to clean both bathrooms, sinks, and toilets. I have not done that since I was young kid in the army. The lovely wife is at work and I am here at home. So I think I will just get my pressure washer out and see what happens! It will do 3200 psi. I just have to figure out which nozzle would be appropriate. ;-)

  18. I can't wear Nike shoes anymore . . . not since I learned Greek and how to pronounce Nike correctly. Took all of the fun out of wearing the shoes.
  19. Woke up at 4 AM with a dachshund/chihuahua mix sitting on my face licking me--one of Mom's two twin dogs. Had some Krispy Kreme ground stuff for Joe. First time. Pretty good. Was up, so I decided to bake some banana bread. Made mom a loaf with black walnuts and Splenda to keep her sugar down. Made me and the wife a loaf with pecanns, Ghiradelli 60% chocolate chips, and a mix of white and brown sugar. Oh, then made some fudge with pecans from the same monster bag of Ghiradelli chips. Having made spaghetti from last night, no cooking until tomorrow morning: corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and black-eyed peas on the side. My singer/songwriter daughter is coming over tomorrow with her piano, mic, computer, etc. going to hook her up to the K-horns through the old Pioneer SX-9000 (which has PA capabilities) and turn her loose . . . and I do not even have to pay to listen to her concer in the house! Hope you all have a great New Year start and many blessings to come!
  20. There's so many ways I could go with this. I better not.................... Thanks for stopping yourself . . . I do not like to even think about my first visit to a proctologist this past summer!
  21. Adidas were the hot tennis shoes we wore in the 70's . . . white leather with green stripes were the top tier, especially for us athletes. If an athlete worn anything else, it was scorn city! You could get by with just a raised eyebrow or two if you wore Nike optic green tennis shoes though. I had thise for the off season or when the Adidas needed a wash and air dry. I worked at a movie theater as a projectionist for $1.50 an hour to save up and get my first pair. I actually still have one of those pair from the 70's ai occasionally wear.
  22. OK . . . you guys are killing me. Was going to buy a Schiit Dac, then not going to, then going to buy one, then not going to, then just missed seeing the pre-owned one on A-gon, then never going to buy one, and now, well, you guys have started me leaning in that direction again! Good morning!
  23. For TV and movies and games run three Heresys . . . one for the center channel. I ran a phantom center for a while, but never cared for it at all myself. I know your TV is above the fireplace; but you could mount the Heresy above the TV and point it down to MLPs . . . not ideal, but better than no center IMHO.
