  1. Yeah, since you are using a "powered" sub, you won't be using the receivers amp to drive it. So, no extra load on the Denon. I always say, buy the best speakers you can, even if you have to buy only two, to start out. You'll be glad you did! [Y] Keep us posted and don't hesitate to ask questions, we've all been "newbies" at one time. Dennie
  2. Maybe never! Klipsch are typically easier to drive then most other speakers. What is your concern, over driving the receiver? I don't think it will be an issue. Are you running a powered sub? Dennie
  3. Hello Zach, Welcome to the Klipsch Forums, we're glad you are here! Hook them up, you'll be fine!! [Y] Dennie
  4. Dennie, I SO wish they'd make PC speakers in the likeness of Heritage. I think that's nice!!! Imagine a baby pair of Belle's, LaScalas (duh)...not sure how you'd do small Khorns like that... You'd have to have mini-corners!!! [] I'd buy them in a minute if they had "PC La Scalas"!! Dennie
  5. This is great advise. ^^^^^^^ Go listen, only you can decide which ones sound best for you, in your room. I have not listened to any of those speakers, but tell us more about your gear, room size, listening habits. Others who are more familiar with these speakers may chime in. Welcome to the Klipsch Forums, we're glad you're here. Dennie
  6. Ahh, there is no center channel speaker in a 2-channel set up. But I did want to say Welcome to the Klipsch Forums, we're glad you are here. Dennie
  7. It never hurts to have a spare, as someone mentioned. Arcam has a decent reputation, so if you like it, you just may want to pick it up. You can always offer $40! [] Keep us posted, Dennie
  8. Yeah Nathan, I agree with Dave, you should get "decent" sound from the gear you have. Also, work on the room. Lay down another rug in the back of the room, or some blankets, just for test purposes. Hang a tapestry on the wall or again, some spare blankets, to try to get rid of the "hollowness" you are experiencing. Move the speakers around. Toe them in towards the listening position, if they are not already. Move them away or towards the side and back walls, etc...! Remove or move your acoustic treatments, just to see how it effects the sound. Turn off one or both subs, so you can hear what the speakers are doing, then add one back in and see how it sounds. The room usually has more to do with the sound than the gear. Good luck and keep us posted, Dennie
  9. I think you're right, the newer stuff should last longer too. I don't see the reason for using an "older" player, especially if you are connected digitally. But, if he's a friend, ask him to "borrow" one or both and check it out for yourself. Dennie
  10. Hey Bob, Congratulations on the new purchase and enjoyment!! [<)] But, what I need to know is...... Does your wife have a sister??? [] Dennie []
  11. May be a little hard(er) to find in Lahore, Pakistan! [^o)] But I agree! Always good to see you QK! Dennie
  12. Wow, dreams coming true. Congratulations! [<)] Dennie
  13. Darn find job! How's it sound? Dennie PS We prefer CASH, but pictures are acceptable! [] .....
  14. Great News, thanks for the update. [Y] Dennie
  15. Congratulations George, I'm glad you fixed the "Seller's Remorse"!!! [] Those look to be in great shape. [<)] Dennie
  16. Well, shut the front door! Congratulations on the New (to you) La Scalas Bruce!!! [<)] You'll probably need to update the crossovers, if they're original they should be updated/replaced. I bought new crossovers from Bob and Michael Crites ---- CLICK HERE He has replacement parts and you can do the work, or he can do the work. Or, just buy new ones and swap them out, like I did. They are great guys to do business with and Bob is an active member of this forum. "BEC" is his handle (I think). Do a search on "crossovers" and you'll find many options. Email or call Klipsch about the "Badge", I'm sure they can help or steer you in the right direction! Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!! Dennie PS Next time, let's be a little more careful moving them..... ()
  17. Thanks for the review Tony and keep us posted on the next "shootout". Dennie
  18. Lots of great recommendations. [Y] I think this is a great set, at a great price. It's under $40.00.... [] Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions [box set, Original recording remastered] Miles Davis 2006 Amazon.com So which was the greater Miles Davis quintet, the legendary postbop band of the '60s featuring Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Tony Williams and Ron Carter or the proto-bebop unit of the '50s featuring the emerging John Coltrane? As properly celebrated as the former is, a strong argument can be made for the latter, which in pouring out five albums' worth of material for Prestige in three marathon sessions (to fulfill a contract) took the group aesthetic to dazzling heights--and has been endlessly imitated ever since. Driven by the rhythm section of Red Garland, Paul Chambers and Philly Jones, this band was a remarkable blend of whiplash power and airy emotion--not always perfect or polished, but with the sublimely contained Davis and fiercely uncontainable Coltrane playing off each other, always eventful. (The familiar songs include "Oleo," "If I Were a Bell," "Four" and "My Funny Valentine.") To entice those who already own Chronicles: The Complete Prestige Recordings (1951-1956) or the individual quintet albums (including "Cookin'" and "Relaxin'"), The Legendary Prestige Quintet Sessions offers a bonus disc featuring previously unrecorded radio and TV performances from 1955-58 of acceptable sound quality. Two tracks are from a 1955 installment of The Tonight Show with Steve Allen (whose hipster reputation is retroactively diminished by his painfully square remarks). An intriguing later track, pointing toward Kind of Blue, features Bill Evans at the piano. The enhanced portion of disc four includes transcriptions of five Davis solos. Though the package's cover painting by Davis won't make anyone forget Picasso, the 40-page booklet boasts characteristically incisive notes by Bob Blumenthal. --Lloyd Sachs Amazon Link ------> CLICK HERE Dennie
  19. Welcome KG4Life, we're glad you're here! [<)] Dennie
  20. Congratulations! It's sweet when it comes together like that. [<)] And remember... "If it sounds good, it is good"! It doesn't matter what name you give it, 2.1, 3.1, 3.0, 1, as long as you're enjoying it, that is all that matters! Dennie
  21. Congratulations..... [<)] Dennie
  22. Great stuff Shake! [Y] Yeah, it takes time to get a system "dialed" in and most importantly patience! I think most of us consider our system a "work in progress", as we're always doing something to try and improve our system. I guess its part of the hobbyist in us and also part of the fun! Have you treated the room at all? I've found this to make the biggest difference in most systems. Thanks for sharing your journey into 2 Channel and keep us posted, Dennie
