  1. 1. I plan on making the switch between left la scala and sub to see what sounds best but I was just to lazy today moving all that heavy equipment. Plus i would need to move the TV a little to left to leave the tv in "middle" of la scalas. I dont think i will need to move the Tv mount, just the tv a little to the left on the already placed mount. Within the next few days i will try. I have experimented toeing in la scalas a bit more but I like the way they sound right now. Both are facing just outside of your ears when seated in center of couch watching tv. When I move the left la scala further out I'll probably toe them in a tad more. I'll see what sounds best. 2. I always thought my tv was a bit high. I'm going to try and move it a few inches down on its mount. Moving the whole av rack I will have to think about though. I do like the idea. I appreciate the advice. Alex
  2. For you that read my old post i decided on the 2 heresy centers. I purchased from a guy in orlando from craigslist which my friend that lives in orlando picked up and brought down for me. Turned out one of the tweeters was blown, so i purchased 2 new tweeters from crites. Additional 58$. I have been in contact with guy which i purchased from to see if he can meet me half way for tweeters because he told me speakers were 100% functional, nothing blown, obviously not so. Ill see how that goes.... So i tried different configurations for the Heresy as center. I tried 1 on its side, 2 on it side, one standing, 2 standing at different angles. I like it this was the best by far. Someone who responded to my old post recommended and i like the sound the best. The front stage is just seamless. You close your eyes while watching a movie and you can't pinpoint the speakers at all. Just big, beautiful vast sound coming at you. My old setup as some of you know what the rf-82 and rc-62. The dual heresy's beat out the rc-62 five to one. This set up is in a entire different league in SQ, robust spl, realism and all of the above. I have a pair of marantz ma700 pushing the la scala's and i love these amps. For now i am running the heresy's off the pioneer receiver which i am using as preamp. The vsx-1018AH. I am in the market now for a single marantz ma700 for the centers which would put the amp at 4 ohms and 300 watts for pair OR split marantz ma500 at 125 watts a piece. I am running the pioneer at 4 ohm center channel right now for Heresy's, which i know is not recommended but others have done with no problems so for now will have to due. So i connected the heresy's to the the ma700's and they sounded great. My GF was like wow Very impressed with such sound coming out of speakers that were not all that big. I my self am very impressed with the heresy's. I like how they sounded better than my rf-82's. Cleaner, more real sound. For the fun of it i connected one of heresy's to ma700 and la scala on other side to ma700. Standing in the middle, what a difference. At all volumes the heresy was noticeably quieter. The midrange seamed to not be there, the highs and lows sounded like they were being "drowned" for lack of a better word. All i can say is wow from the la scala at the other side. The highes were clear and alive. The bass from the la scala is just stunning, the horn loaded woofer is, to me, the clearest, cleanest bass you will ever hear. The squaker is were the la scala shines. Mid range is what what stood out the most above the other heresy. I was hearing insruments in la scala i did not even hear in the heresy. I LOVE MY LA SCALA'S!!! Sub woofer, paradigm servo 15a, was turned off for this, fyi. There is my little review. Feel free to ask questions and give suggestions. Thanks to those who helped me put my system together. Alex
  3. I would agree with what above two said. I think rc62 is your best bet for right now. It is a great speaker. The rc64 is a big step forward and too much for your rb81's. Not that it will sound bad just much bigger, more expensive and obviously louder. If you feel the need to upgrade in near future then go rc64, if not, I would go for a used rc62 and you can always sell it off in future and if taken care of you will only loose little to no $. Alex
  4. Welcome to klipsch forum:) very nice, helpful people. Most people here have been klipsch fans for years.
  5. Netflix quality was not too bad. I just ran out of movies to watch so i cancelled it:(
  6. Alex, Have your friend stop by my place(right off the turnpike) and pick up my Acurus 5-channel amp. Since you are splitting the signal for dual center channels(4ohm load), you need some current to drive them. Bill I totally wish i could have gotten one of your acurus amps[] I have really been outdoing my self in the $ department, upgrading to la scala's, dual marantz mono amps, paradigm servo 15a and some heresies all in about one month. I have sold some of my old equipment but still need some recuperating. Problem is when you upgrade in one area, other areas also need upgrading[] I think in the future i will be in market for dual marantz ma500's for these heresies[H][Y] Alex
  7. Glad to see a forum member bought them. Thanks you. I saw them the day before you posted them in alerts and I wasn't really going to get them. Then I thought about it, read up on painting them and thaught why not? I'll be sure to post pics and reviews when all is done. Thanks for all the help and advice guys. Alex
  8. Do a search in garage sale section and you will see what they go for. 800-1000 is a good deal if in good shape. I have seen them go for 1500+ for newer ones or la scala II in excelent condition. Sometimes if you get really lucky you find them for less than 800. So i guess it all depends. For 1000 if in good shape it a fair/good deal.
  9. I had my rf-82's connected with my pionner and it sounded great. I hooked them up to a marantz ma700 and wow what a difference. The bass what much more pronounced and highs more detailed and smooth. At louder volumes the speakers sounded significatly better. With the pionner they felt like they were being choked... With the marantz they sounded amazing.... they shined, i was like wow, big time. Hope i helped. You might just want to keep your yamaha and get a external amp. bill has the acurus a250 for sale in garage sale section. It will pair very nice with the rf-82's. Bring those babies to life!
  10. If using the pair is the route you're going to take, try placing them under the TV. Place the units upright (as normal), side-by-side. Tilt them back by 15°, then cross-fire them as shown in the picture below. The angles are important. Cross-firing keeps comb-filtering to a minimum, yet substantially widens their combined dispersion. Tilting them back keeps the mid range from bouncing off the floor too soon, and the 25° splay affords cross-firing, yet is shallow enough to keep the tweeters from ricocheting off the baffle of the adjacent cross-fired speaker. Try that out for size. Hardest part will be coming up with a method to maintain that compound angle as the cabs will be resting on one corner, for the most part....and finding a home for all the gear already underneath the TV. My heresies have the risers tilting them back. I am actually thinking to take risers off. If i place them on top of unit the tweeter will be just about at ear level, if they have the risers angleing them up the tweeters will actually be aiming above ear level. Thaught? Leave them on or take them off? Yes, I have to play with speakers to find what sounds best. My friend in Orlando picked them up for me (Orlando is 3 hours away) so I'm waiting for her to come to Miami so I can get my speakers:) She said she's going to try and come next weekend... The unit under the tv has two bottom levels which will hold receiver and equipment more than fine. I am going to put the heresies on top of unit. They will be about 6 inches below tv that way so I plan on bringing them up, maybe even tv a little down. I want the speakers to be flush with bottom of tv so the sound appears to be coming from tv. Thats the way i have the rc-62 not and i really like it. Thank for all the help guys. Alex
  11. Picked up these bad boys:) Now i just have to paint them black..... http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/165133.aspx So i now have two heresies. I have done my reading. I know alot of people have advised against using 2 center channels. Those that do use 2 center, im speaking about 2 heresies, love it and say it sounds amazing. Obviously i am going to try one, then both speakers and setting them up differently to figure out what sounds best. Thought i can maybe get some input from those with experience which way to set them up as center would sound best. I think i am going to use them both vertical right bellow the TV, sitting on the little entertainment center. I read from some one that they putt one bellow and one above the tv. I am considering trying this out as well. What do you think? Alex
  12. It's totally cool Michael. I would really love to put a la scala in the middle but I really don't think it will fit or be reasonable in my town house. I'm in the market now for some heresies.... Alex
  13. i actually did literally hours of research. The trend is starting from best to worst... 1. la scala 2. heresy 3. academy 4. c7 There is a toss up between the heresy and academy. The academy, as i read, might serve better as center for movies and blending in with front very well. The sound just comes at you and you can not pin point the speaker. The heresy, as i read, you CAN pin point the speaker a little more but sounds "richer/deeper" sound. Better at higher volumes....but BIG and doesnt look as nice sitting in center. I do not care for looks....Please correct me if i am wrong I listen to mostly music so i am leaning towards heresy. In future i will purchase another la scala and place in center and heresy will go towards rears.....
  14. Cornwall is to big. La scala is also to big and my living room it really to small for a third la scala in center. The three la scala will be very close together. So i figure a heresy. Im still young and live in a town home and plan on moving to a bigger house in years to come were a third la scala is almost promised to be as center:) Then moving my heresy to my rears.... I always try to plan ahead. Alex
  15. Here is a pic. In the center is the rc62 which speaker will be replacing. Those shelves will be moved and receiver placed on lower rack so i have a pretty good little space there for a speaker. Maybe you guys have another suggestion?
  16. I know this topic has been covered and i am almost embarrassed to post this but maybe i can squeeze some more opinions out and make my final decision. I have two la scala about 6ft apart, with a marantz ma700 on each and am looking for the best center. Another la scala is out of question for right now.... I have narrowed down to these two. I have the space for both and "looks" is no issue to me. I only care about the "sound". I listen to 75% music, 25% movies. For music i usually run 2 channel stereo but sometimes i enjoy running a 3 channel up front (including center.) I am getting rid of the rc 62 i currently have.... For sub i have a paradigm servo 15a which i am very happy with. Any one who have owned both and heard both side to side which would you recommend and why? What are there sound differences? Which will sound better with la scalas? Which will sound better for music? For home theater? I have yet to purchase surrounds btw. Thanks for all the help guys. Alex
  17. He did say HT/music room. He I dont think dj subs will sound good with movies. And i dont think that velodyne will have a problem with the 40-80 hz region. Might not be as loud, but should hit lower and should sound better.
  18. If you want the bass to hit hard, be loud and sound good you are going to need 18" and power. You need to move air. Which you already have one, i would look for another velodyn hgs 18, i think that would be your best bet.... Hope i helped
  19. I would say every other day or so. When i get home from work i just open my computer and put on some music, i shower, eat and do adl's listening to music. And movies maybe once a week or so. On off days or weekends or bbq's, i would say 8-12 hours in a single day easily.
  20. I have the paradigm servo 15a and i think it does it good job of keeping up with la scalas. Some people can run la scalas and not feel the need for a sub, some do feel the need for a sub so it depends on you. If its mostly for music i dont think you will need such a powerfull sub, if its mostly for movies then yes, a powerful sub is going to be needed. La scalas have great sq and lots of output so try to get sub with good output and good sq and keep up and blend with la scalas. Dont go cheap on sub... You can also try a search, this topic has been covered. Hope I helped. Alex
  21. I would do it in a flash. It's going to be like having 5 book shelf speakers with a extra woofer. Or book shelf speakers on steroids?? I think your sun should pick up the sub 80hz just fine. You can always get another sub or a bigger different sub. I wouldn't pass this deal
