  1. I wouldn't add a headphone amp in between the ipod and the two channel amp system. you shouldn't need it. i would go with using the line out from the iPod dock (best audio output, bypasses the attenuation by the iPod's circuitry). i have been using ipods and their docks in a two channel system for ages, six years? something like that!
  2. some yes, many no. plugs, some fuses, some cables, that's really it. different amp, a lot of different inside.
  3. Thanks for the effort haha. Sadly they didn't put us on ESPN+, but we were good to go with the local networks. We will be back on tv, NBC, in a few weeks doing a morning show.
  4. Seems anymore you have to tease you guys haha. My a cappella group, Mizzou Forte, was asked to sing the National Anthem at the Mizzou v. Nebraska game. Though Mizzou lost, Mizzou Forte rocked it out. The 23d we are competing in The International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in St. Louis. If we win there (already won regionals semi-finals) we will compete this spring in San Rafael California! Thats me on the right with the glasses So wish us luck! Anyone else here in an a cappella group or have been? They are a blast!
  5. Apparently a river overflowed and got into the tunnel where the water froze and ended up with a whole lotta ice.
  6. Thanks for the well wishes. Surprised no one else has it here, 1:133 do. I'm just looking for some help figuring out what I can eat and what I can't... I miss bread already.
  7. It seems like each semester of school brings me a new disease or disorder, whether temporary or permanent. I went to the doctor yesterday after about six months of lower abdomen pain and the inability to really eat anything without getting sick. The verdict? Celiac Disease. Basically, it is a life long allergy to gluten, commonly found in wheat, rye, oats and barley. This also increases the chance of colon cancer 40-100 times, my aunt is fighting a losing battle with colon cancer right now. Caught in time, no real problems, as long as you change your lifestyle which means, no more wheat, barley, rye or oats. Sad that those are by far my favorite foods haha. But for the first time in a long time, I am not in pain and not sick. The only other way I could get to feeling this well was when I would go days without any food. Turns out a guy in my a cappella group's entire family has Celiac Disease, less him (lucky duck). He is going to get me some great recipes and tips and such. I was hoping someone here might know some good recipes or any thing really about it. Are there weird foods that you wouldn't think had gluten like milk or soy products? I'm totally wheatarded (oh it's funny and you know it) about this. Oh, and if you have read this far, wanna see me on TV? Tune to ESPN Plus this saturday for the University of Missouri Basketball game. I'm singing the national anthem with some others in my a cappella group. Check it out! Thanks guys and gals!
  8. Then don't knock them... [] Just be careful with the volume and you will be fine!
  9. Running out the door but here goes. The higher the impedance, the more power required to power the speaker. My 32ohm headphones sound great out of my ipod. My more sensitive 300ohm headphones don't even get close to sounding as good unless I add an amplifier. As long as you stay away from clipping (pulling more power than the amp was built to put out) you will be fine. do the promedia's SOUND aged or just appear so? just curious My 2.1's are from the beginning and they sounds fantastic! I had to do some work on them also, display unit at a dealer (they don't take great care of their display units...).
  10. Reminds me of Bob Dole prior to Pfizer... Oh come now! []
  11. what is a "knife edge back"? sounds dangerous. [^o)]
  12. you will likely pull too much power from the amp which will cause damage to those speakers. if you don't try to high a volume, maybe no problems... but i wouldn't do it. your promedia's should be just fine, why do you feel they have aged to this point?
  13. Glad you got it and love it! Check out that BT - This Binary Universe CD/DVD combo. It is really fabulous at bring your system to its knees. Especially if you play the 5.1 DTS track!
  14. Maximum output power: 60 mW rms (30 mW per channel)
  15. Google.com/ig puts Slashdot's top ten links on my front page. []
  16. I work for Starbucks so I might be a bit biased. However, I love the espresso from Pete's Coffee, Casa Cielo and Komodo Dragon from Starbucks and Java, when you could get it (destroyed most farms with the tsunami). Blue Mountain is famously good and everyone has to love a little Kona Coffee! I really like a bold, complex coffee; which is why I like Asian and African coffees so much.
  17. Slashdotted gevmage writes "Gary Reign, a guy with apparently way too much time on his hands, built a home theater in his basement. This is not unusual. However, the room is designed, floor to ceiling, as the bridge of a Star Trek style starship. See his photo page for details."
  18. Talking about the $200,000 speakers at CES, the guys at This Week in Tech (TWiT) discussed how so many people are quickly willing to forgo lower quality sound for smaller package and lower price. They were speaking mostly of the terrible iPod speaker systems, 98% of them really are terrible. The iGroove is an exception of course. Leo Laporte brought up the "real hifi" speakers and named only one. The Klipschorn.
  19. I did it first for my ProMedia's since they are low power, low impedance. Worked fabulously well. I loved using one cable to handle two speakers, kept things really nice and clean. I have some MonsterCable for the Heresys and didn't notice any difference with the Ethernet cables except how much cheaper it was and I didn't have to feel so bad cutting the cables to fit because I paid for more cable. I once saw a guy who modded his speakers to have ethernet jacks in them, it was ingenious or at least really cool looking. Just plug in your ethernet cable and call it good. Definitely wouldn't pull out or mess up phase since you can't get it wrong!
  20. I'm paying 2.09 for regular, i paid as high as $4.75 in california last year. In regards to cash pay after filling up being non existent... check this out! This is in mid missouri as I drove home to Tulsa this week.
  21. Ignore the talk about Exactcopy because it works only on PC's. Rip your future stuff on AAC 192 or greater with Variable Bit Rate selected unless you REALLY care for the music (really intense piano for instance) and go with Apple or AIFF Lossless options. Do not worry about re-ripping. Do not get the 40gb iPod. If you go for a full sized iPod (not nano or shuffle) you want a video version iPod. They have better drives and batteries and output. Don't stress out about this. Get a 30gb iPod or 60gb iPod if you want the big screen and large hard drive, choose white or black (match your iGroove perhaps). As far as photography software goes... lucky me, I got to one of the top journalism schools in the world, the world's first journalism school. I get my Apple computers for hundred and hundreds off and software for pennies on the dollar. Adobe CS2 Suite? $200 Macromedia Studio FX? $70 Aperture? $89 Save the big bucks on like Finale and LogicPro etc. I might be able to do you some favors ;-)
  22. oh oh oh! I forgot, check out BT's This Binary Universe. It is incredible. The CD/DVD combo is only $13-15 and the music (115 piece orchestra plus electronics) and visuals (on the DVD matched up with the music) are stunning. http://thisbinaryuniverse.com/ The DVD is encoded in DTS 5.1 and boy does it rock. Really will put your system through the loops, and your high definition television (though, admittedly, not on HD-DVD...)
