  1. so, would you trade your Fortes for a pair of Cornwalls?
  2. i wish i had a bigger wallet. i have two 15" woofers for subwoofer project sitting in my basement. i also have woofers, horns and drivers, crossovers from crites for a CS-1 project. i am a little dried right now. i really shoudl start working on my speakers/subs projects before looking at more speakers. this forum and the avsforums is bad, REAL BAD!!!
  3. wow, lots of love for the chorus ii. paid $500 for the cornwalls last year, and with the chorus ii for the same price....man, i gotta think this one over HARD!
  4. thanks, make me want to hear a pairs. what's a fair price for the Chorus II?
  5. anyone had a chance to listen to both? how different (or similar) are they? do you prefer one over the other? i already have a pair of cornwalls and on the look out for more cornwalls or heresies, but a pair of chorus ii pops up on the local scene. i am thinking they should blend in well with the cornwalls?
  6. thanks, wow....that was a lot of info. my dream system would be 5 cornwalls, but probably won't happen due to size limitation in the room, budget, availability of cornwalls...etc. but i'll settle for 2 cornwalls and 4/5 heresies.
  7. thanks michael, i'll take your suggestion and NOT DO IT. i think i am a heritage guy, i've already sold off both my RF3s and my RC-3II speakers. working on building heresy clone (Bob Crites' CS1) saw some very nice prices on the JBLs and thought it was interesting. btw, since you bring up crossover. is it better to have all your speakers crossover at the same point? i currently have my mains crossover at 80hz, and surrounds crossover at 100hz.
  8. +1 on the above combo. if you're a little adventerous, take a look at the AVS diy sub threads. for rouglhy $500, there are several diy options that will eat the mass produced subs for lunch. i am looking into a few options myself, THT, Sonotube, tapped horn, dual oppsed, etc.
  9. anyone here have JBL surrounds speakers? particularly the 8330? i currently have a pair of RS-42s, would you say these 8330's would be a big improvement over the RS-42s? thanks
  10. The output from this 120 volt APC "power conditioner" when in battery backup mode. 200 volt square waves with a spike of up to 270 volts between those square waves. Power so 'dirty' as to be harmful to small motors and power strip protectors. Not harmful to electronics. So it is sold as a 'power conditioner' because it does power unconditioning. And connects appliances directly to AC mains - also no conditioning - otherwise. That APC has one useful function. Temporary and 'dirtiest' power during a blackout. Because power conditioning is standard in all appliances, then crappiest power from a UPS is 'cleaned' by superior circuits standard in all electronics. It is not a conditioner. It is only a battery backup power source. 'Diritiest' power is created by that when in battery backup mode, ahh...so what are you suggesting? don't use anything and plug your gear directly into the wall outlet? or get rid of all your gear so you don't have to worry about buying a power conditioner/protector?
  11. +1 for APC. i got the H10 about 2 years ago, still working great.
  12. if you don't mind used, get this. AWESOME receiver, i have the 805. TX-SR875
  13. there are some here that use QSC amps and really like them. but for the price (~$1,200), you have lots of choices.... and i believe feeding your front 3 with the same power is prefer. have you look at a 3 channel amp? Emotiva, B&K, Parasound?
  14. i think many of us started out with 2 speakers and expand/upgrade from there over time (very long time). i bought my pair of RF-3s about 9-10yrs ago straight out of college 2-3 years ago, i purchased an RC3II and a pair of RS42s for a complete HT system. about a year ago, I purchased a pair of Cornwalls and several weeks ago, i sold my RF3s and RC3II in prepapration of some hybrid Heresy speaker build to round out my heritage HT system
  15. if it's legit. BIG IF!!! i pay him the $300 he's asking, and get outta there before he has a chance to give you your money back.
  16. i am thinking pairing 2 of those with my cornwall mains. the DTS-10 and Tuba HT is just too big (size wise) for my room.
  17. how long do you wait for glue to dry? 24hr?
  18. hey cask05, what do you think of this anarchy th build? http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1238398&page=17
  19. +1 on the 885. picked up an Integra 9.9 (Onkyo 886) last month and couldn't be happier. that is a SWEET price on the 885.
