  1. Being as I am only a couple hours away its about time I show up to one of these. It sure has been fun reading about them.
  2. In my opinion the difference between that bottom of the line Yamaha receiver and the Mac seperates will be like walking across the room in the dark stumbling along the way to finally come upon a light switch. If I were to own another pair of Cornwalls I would only run them with tube amplification. Unlike many of the other Klipsch speakers that really benefit from the extra power Cornwalls in my experience are not one of them. They just need a few quality watts that glow in the dark. Good luck, with the Mac and Cornwalls you sure don't have a lack of quality gear.
  3. You guys with these big *** speakers in your houses are my heroes. I plan on going that route someday........ Yeah but I would imagine those poor rock recordings are a little scary. Great recordings are probably awesome but so much of the music we love is actually recorded like crap.
  4. Sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and your family.
  5. Congrats on the yellow jacket sting[] My brother in law has the same issues. He is allergic to anything and everything. I don't envy allergies one bit.
  6. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/t/123205.aspx They were a step ahead of ya.
  7. They really need an idiot alert function on this forum!
  8. I'm on the road alot with work. What really gets me is not only the texting I see going on all the time but people reading a book. How in the world can you read a book and drive?
  9. This is the kind of money they were getting for them when they first came out. http://www.copystars.com/crown_k2_power_amplifier_16570_prd1.htm So as usual the used market is quite a bargain.
  10. I've been curious about that amp but never experienced one. How would you describe the differences between the Crown and QSC compared to the Marantz? Well, funny thing is I am a huge fan of all three. The 250M paired with the 3600 is very sweet on horns with a very solid low end. It packs a heck of a punch. It was among Marantz better attempts at SS amplification IMHO. Doesn't really do anything bad. The QSC is a great sounding amp on horns as well. The SRA 2422 is very powerful and yet very smooth. Images well produces a descent soundstage. Has a very low input impedance(10 k ohms unbalanced) so is very difficult to pair with a tubed preamp which would be nice. This amp can really wake up a woofer. The Crown K2 is very neutral. I am feeling and hearing the full audio spectrum. Thing hits like a jack hammer. Images great with a wide soundstage. Again it has the same problem as the QSC with its low input impedance of 10 k ohms unbalanced. Quicksilver pre would probably work very favorably and add some tubes to the mix. Throw in a tubed CD player and I doubt a person could want for anymore unless change is just to their liking. I've owned Chorus II's for nearly 20 years so I'm not into the change game so much as long as I like what I'm hearing. I don't want it to sound like I like every SS amp there is and especially all of them with horns. These three in particular are unique in this quality if you ask me. Trust me I've heard some real ear piercing SS gear on these Chorus II's. Its been some of the gear that some folks recommend. So different strokes for different folks I guess plays out here. Heck some folks don't even like Chorus II's so go figure.
  11. Can't help but think you have something in the chain causing this or your amps need service. Wish other folks with K2's would speak up about idle hiss. I serioulsy just took a Marantz 250M out of the chain and dropped in the K2. With he Marantz which is an exact match for my preamp there was an audible hiss. But with the K2 I have zero, notta, nothing, zip, hiss either at full gain with preamp at max volume. Actually kind of werid I've never had this where there is no audible hiss through my horns. So I have my source maxed out on volume and my preamp maxed out on volume and gain swtiched in back to 1.4 volt for full output of amp and the gains on front maxed out and it is if the thing is off. I would think yours should be working out the same Coytee.
  12. With your setup I have no doubts. LOL! I bet even Coytee has to be a little fearful of his system. I think you folks could start charging admission.
  13. Doc, Are you saying we should all be doing this with all our pro amps? With the Crown K2 should we be running at max on the gain controls? Or is this just for folks actively biamping with these largers systems? If I were to run max gain I would have very little preamp control. I have zero noise at any setting on the gains or the preamp. That alone makes the Crown pretty remarkable to me.
  14. I'll second that!! As you know, I also use a vintage Marantz Model 3600 preamp. I love this preamp. With Crown XTI 2000's pumping out the bass and a vintage Harmon Kardon 430 on the highs, my RF-7's sound bad-***. Someday I would like to replace the XTI's with some K-2's. Congrats on your new Crown. Thanks man. New toys are always so much fun especially when they exceed expections. [Y][H]
  15. I'll add that when I have the gains on the K2 about halfway up, I can't hear much if any noise. If I max them to 100% I can easily hear some hiss. The cool thing is, with them at 50% they will still give a whole lotta whump if you want it. My daily position on the K2's is usually at the 4th click and the volume on the Peach is at 75% or even maxed. I wonder if that is a difference in our speakers with your Jubes at 110db/1w/1m and my Chorus II's at 101db/1w/1m or if its our systems in general. I can actually max out my gains and not the slightest hint of anything. Dead silent. I only run a preamp an amp and a cd player.
  16. Well, I've been using a QSC SRA 2422 which is basically the same as your 1202 with 225 more wpc. Between my QSC and Crown there are a couple of differences worth noting. 1. The Crown actually has a more tunefull bass which means more realistic. 2. But also the crown hits with much more authority. So in terms of bass for driving your bass bins you would be winning on both accounts. With what I know now I would switch in a New York minute. Also let me add, this is by far the quietest amp I've ever heard. There is zero noise or hiss from my horns. It's really as if its not on.

  18. It's amazing how good they look in the room. Can't help but keep coming back to the photo. Well done! [Y]
