  1. I paid 1,790.00 in 1990 for my first pair. Which was list price. I have used mine for both 2 channel and home theater and feel that they are a great speaker for both applications. I have owned and test drove many speakers but the Chorus II's have just always been my favorite. I have tried many different types of amplification over the years and unlike some around here I believe happiness can be found with any of the types.I do believe listening habits and types of music have an impact as well. I personally dig classic rock, hard rock and heavy metal. Both tubes and ss can sound either great or terrible. The goal is too find what sounds nice to your ears and be happy. And if you dont mind spending money get in the habit of buying and selling and keep trying new flavors. But this forum offers a wealth of information from folks who have had alot of personal experience with all the different Klipsch speakers and you can learn a alot and take alot of the guess work out of your purchasing decisions. Which in turn can save you tons of grief and money. The bass is just the beginning of what these Chorus II's have going for them IMHO. Good luck and by all means have a blast.
  2. Echowars of Audiokarma is to SS as NosValves is to Tubes.
  3. Hi Kevin and welcome to the forum. Did you buy your Chorus II's new? You say you took one back and the replacement sounded somewhat better? So between two new speakers one was better than the other? Do you have the Forte or the Forte II's? Maybe your just not impressed with the tractix mid if you have the earlier model Forte. Also there are folks who prefer the Forte over the Chorus. If you bought them new and never really liked them then obviously your just not a fan of the Chorus speaker. To me it sounds as if you have a crossover problem but it could very well be your dislike of a certain speaker. You might very well be an advocate for some nice tube gear with those Chorus II's. Hope you get it figured out and become happy with your 2 channel listening.
  4. Whatever floats your boat but just so the narrator of this thread understands that not every person on this board is in agreement. And if that means only me so be it! Not all SS are equal. By the way is this something that just happened over night or have you just been having less and less enjoyment as time goes by? Too much SS to me for Klipsch speakers is certainly 380 watts per side. How it sounds is in the ear of the beholder. How hard the speaker components have been driven is inferred to be considerable in this case since sound is not pleasing anymore. Just an example, I run 425 wpc and it sounds better to my ears than any 50 wpc SS I've ever heard. So just my point that all SS is not nearly equal. Now I realize most of this wattage is just waste but what a grain free, smooth amp. Liquid with slam. I do agree depending on your equipment and how hard you push that equipment into your speakers things obviously get warn out. And he obviously has something that has failed or failing . I find it great that you and I share a love for the same speaker and our approaches are completely different as more than likely with our styles of music. Klipsch are great!

  6. How did that Marantz 2325 turn out? I remember you saying it had some problems and you were going to get it fixed and give it a try. Whats the verdict?
  7. sometimes it's not all about the soundstage and it's just amusing to shake the floors and make your ears bleed I guess I'm too young and just haven't outgrown it yet. . . Btw, I actually rattled the screw loose on a wall outet plate near my right-channel speaker and the cover fell off. It was incredibly satisfying. . Good to be honest n your objective so you do not confuse someone trying to learn. Frying tweeters and networks got too inconvenient for me. Ouch. Think the last time I fried a tweeter I was 16. Sorry to hear of your misfortunes. Distortion and not knowing restraint and what you system is capable of does indeed fry tweeters. And if it ever reaches ear bleed you still have alot of work to do little grasshopper[]
  8. I'll bet you are absolutely right. Just the same as a Rock/Metal concert! And just because its loud doesnt mean its going to sound good but some of us build a system to play damn aweful loud and sound descent and fun doing it. My lawnmower is loud but i would just as soon never turn it on.
  9. Wow, You might be crazier than I[] I haven't managed to get my SRA 2422 to even blink a clip light. Not even a hiccup and I've had this place a rockin.
  10. I agree the positive feedbacks 1 day after auction both ways sends up the red flag. Very very doubtful this transaction ever existed.
  11. Wasn't trying to appear to be a wise guy there.
  12. LMAO !!!!!! Stormin I agree here! Thats why I take profuse enjoyment in pointing out to lay audio people that I have no tone controls! The great bass I have from 10 watts doesn't use any kind of EQ and the statement I hear from Rap lovers is "how can that do that?" While LMAO !!!!! I'll have you know sir I was laughing with him not at him. And I find no enjoyment in rappers bass whatsoever. Glad your set up is all that you want it to be. Congrats
  13. Nice speakers at a nice price. Congrats to you and your friend!
  14. I'll go along with that reasoning 100% Kick arse speakers + kick arse equipment doesnt always = kick arse results! We all search for different nirvana with our systems. Your nirvana might not be anything I could stand to listen to for 5 mins and visa versa. And frankly its nobodys business if you like loudness/exaggerated bass/boosted treble. Choose what you like and enjoy. You are the one you have to please!!!!
  15. You are absolutely correct. But I dont use a PLX. I use an SRA which also has an input impedance of 10k ohms. And it still doesnt work with my nice Audible Illusions L-1. Even 10k ohms is pretty low for an amplifier. But if you are having success with the CJ thats great.
  16. Thats good to hear. It's great you went armed with the spec sheet. Good job! How are the frequency extremes? I expect the mids to be nice but its the high and low frequencies that really suffer from the mismatches. Your bass solid and tight and your highs sparkle and extend? Congrats again![<)]
