  1. YES.. i was watching this the other night to show off my new sub to the folks. bullets flying all around us, smiles on all faces - inlcuding my mom who feels spending money on such things is pointless.
  2. in my opinion, though, some of the charm about this place is the personalities who visit and the freedom to stray off topic without much recourse. if you think about it.. speakers and audio is a pretty dry subject, with lots of opinions and regurgitated facts. all of the off topic banter makes it digestible and worth coming back to read. we self govern the jackoffs that are mean spirited and rude, while showing a tolerance for everything else that most forums typically do not.
  3. that would suck ..the whole forum would never see my posts.
  4. dondavis has two different setups utilizing his massive SVS .. when he was demo'ing everything for me, he just spent a couple of small moments unplugging one set of RCA's and connecting another.
  5. it's been a few weeks and just wanted to follow up. I've been pushing the box hard and haven't noticed any manufacturing defects - this thing sounds awesome, even without a full room EQ. it's very musical, regardless of genre, and does wonders for movies. i'm very much enjoying the sub when paired with the rest of my system. time, money, and waiting all well spent. been in and out of the hospital with my wife a few times this past week and stayed overnight on thursday. She's officially 37 weeks pregnant as of today, so we'll see how much longer before the mini-klipsch fan gets here.
  6. very cool pics and details. it makes me wonder though - am I a speaker bigot? i know there are plenty of great speaker options out there, but i really have no desire to spend my time on anything other than klipsch (even with the idea of unlimited budget). does that make me narrow-minded, speaker-racist, etc?
  7. thousands of people die each year because of motorcycle accidents. you suck and should be banned for peddling your addiction on this AUDIO forum.
  8. you should be good. You might also look at some of the monoprice in-wall speakers - I've really good reviews about their performance, and at the price point they are offered you won't mind having to replace them every 5+ years (if it's even necessary).
  9. $5200 should get you a fair amount of interest.
  10. [bs] I know for a fact you've never fired that gun.
  11. I have tried a few different offerings from CAO, and have yet to be disappointed.
  12. With that being said..... and at the risk of being called a "turd" and the risk of being "banned," when I do have an occasional cigar, I prefer to have one from the Dominican Republic. Consistently fresh and enjoyable...If anyone finds this offensive, piss off. Stay thirsty my friends.... Boxx Boxx - you and your 2nd hand smoke are welcome up to Rancho del Ray any time.
  13. i'm in the same boat, and it's annoying. the PO is sort of open between 8:30 and 4:30 on weekdays, unless old mother hubbard decides to close early. and not open on the weekends.
  14. nor do i see anyone forcing someone else to smoke or espousing the virtues of smoking in this thread. people with similar interests and pleasures should be able to discuss without having to deal with finger shaking condemnation. You know the subject of the thread, feel free to skip over it. None of this content violates the Klipsch forum TOS, and so you should lighten up and let other people make their own choices.
  15. ad·dic·tion    [uh-dik-shuhn] noun the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. ped·dle    [ped-l] verb, -dled, -dling. verb (used with object) 1. to carry (small articles, goods, wares, etc.) from place to place for sale at retail; hawk. 2. to deal out, distribute, or dispense, especially in small quantities: to peddle radical ideas. 3. to sell (drugs) illicitly. To assume that generic conversation about a particular indulgence automatically indicates addiction is REPULSIVE and short-sighted of you. turn down your morality meter and accept the fact that people with common interests here might wish to discuss their full range of hobbies/pleasures, and that these discussions might differ from your own preferences. There are food discussions and I don't see you waving the gluttony banner for fat people addicted to food. There are people here who have admitted to divorcing their spouses over music hobbies, yet I don't see you condeming them for choosing electronics over their marriage. There are people here who talk about the varios alcohol they enjoy, yet I don't see you waving the prohibition banner in defiance. People can enjoy things in moderation and openly discuss them without being addicted. I certainly don't see anyone in this thread peddling any of it. So lighten up. You're a turd and should be banned.
  16. someone should contact Dolby and tell them how misinformed they are.. http://www.dolby.com/us/en/consumer/content/movie/release/dolby-surround-7-1-movies.html
  17. i was being serious. if you want to risk having sh*t audio, then by all means utilize different lengths of cable. if you're serious about this hobby, then you'll understand what i said and why i said it and know that my ears are better than yours, obviously. (in all sincerity.. i am/was kidding)
  18. BFD (Behringer DSP1124P) is in the mail! I'll be integrating, measuring, and tweaking once we get settled into a groove with the newborn.
  19. Gotcha. Good insight, thanks. I definitely have reflections going on and will give this a try in lieu of, or until i can get, panels up on the walls.
  20. I wish I could chime in, but I've found over the years that I prefer the flavor and smoking experience of pipe tobaccos. Easier storage too - mason jars on a cool dark shelf. Peterson pipes and tobacco's are my favorite, and since I don't smoke regularly I can afford the "brand snob" premium they cost.
  21. ha, thanks. after the first week of "eye shock" we hardly notice it as well. Once it's painted black, it'll blend in with the wainscoting even further. You hardly notice the RF-5's when sitting down and watching. The room size lends itself to a projector, but we use the system for more than just movies and I'm not completely sure I can manage adequate light control.
  22. back to this. explain? I'm getting fantastic imaging and separation right now with them in their current spot and squeezing every bit of bass response is less important now that I have my sub.
