  1. dont go replacing just yet ..is the part replaceable? I only ask because my landlord's Vizio tv (part of the furnishings he left behind) went out one day. I was able to track down which board needed replacing and search the web. Many offerings on ebay (though not for my specific part) and I eventually found an obscure source for a replacement board. $200, 1 hour, and the tv was back and functional. Now, if you are looking to replace in spite of all that I can highly recommend the 6/8 series samsung plasmas. Had mine since xmas and it's been nothing but bliss.
  2. unless you're willing to spend $2500 or more, go with plasma
  3. YOURS maybe ... it's the only way i made that drive home, set everything up, recalibrated, AND made it through my test catalogue.
  4. sounds good, i'll start there and see what I can come up with. option b is to construct an elaborate bracket and bolt that B to the floor. i'm sorta kidding ..
  5. heh, good point. ..speaking of which, just built this for the office. i've taken the flexy rack waaaaaay beyond it's intended uses. finished touching up the hardware after this pic and getting some ikea cable management this weekend. not bad for a day's work
  6. if i can figure out the aesthetic hurdle of a random chunk of carpet on the floor ..probably the best bet.i definitely need to do something ..was watching "Sunshine" last night (one of my fav sci-fi thrillers) and towards the end is nothing but LFE ..the sub was going crazy and I had to keep moving it back into position. i was grinning the whole time
  7. hmm ..like that yoga pad that morgan bought for me and i never plan on using?
  8. I know i've read some remedies somewhere, but all the searches I can come up with refer to the method of crawling around to find the best placement. i'm experiencing a new issue of my sub crawling on the hardwood floors as I watch movies. what i recall: turning down (blasphemy!) foam block? rubber furniture feet pads ..the sub seems to jump so not sure how this will help? so what's the best known fix, or a link to what I'm looking for? - michael
  9. the box arrived first thing this morning (perk of living 3 hours from hope) and it's a nice shiny rt-10 amp ..yay! what I didn't anticipate was a replacement for every electronic component ..back panel, top panel, amp, and power cord. go klipsch!
  10. my amp shipped today and will arrive tomorrow or thursday, i assume. hoping it's an rt-10d amp
  11. this is what i ended up doing to fix it on my mac. i also had an issue with safari and ebay, whereby i would have to click "back" twice in order to exit out of item listings. not really a fan of firefox, but it keeps me from having to manually insert html code each time i want to post more than a few sentences here.
  12. i got curious and found this: PHRASAL VERBS: dope something out inf., dated work out something: they met to dope out plans for covering the event. http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1O999-dope.html
  13. i think it was more like a dig on you ..indicating you're a dope for mixing them up like that. at least, that's something i would say if i were trying to insult someone with a sense of private gratification.
  14. I have beyer dt990's with a firestone audio amp ..love it. it just wasn't getting enough use and so i've had it up for sale/trade for a few weeks. but then i built out my home office this last weekend and it sits nicely there. i'm rethinking and am probably going to hold onto them ..even if it is only for ocassional use.
  15. no real benefit on the speaker end of things ..go old school and use bare wire.
  16. ha ..i can picture revision 2.0 now .. klipsch drivers in a bose carboard box with the sales pitch of "best sounding bose box ever"
  17. ha! i'll sell it to you for $500 or build you one for $300 + $200 core charge...
  18. VERY cool ..guess I need to start planning another day trip.
  19. update: placing it under the workbench improves bass output..
  20. systems involve a whole lot more than speakers ..specifically room volume and dynamics, how you have it crossed over in the AVR, where it's placed, etc. simply posting models doesn't really do much..
  21. give both a shot and see what happens ..asking questions is perfectly alright, but you're allowed to figure some things out on your own as well. you're not going to break anything.
  22. I had the rw-12 for about 3 years ..loved it (probably should have kept it). i would highly recommend you get it. but there are also alternatives that may possibly be had for the same or less. give elemental designs a look through.
