  1. yup, i'll be there. may even show up at Indy some time
  2. My rt-10d RMA went to Mecca (aka Hope) so I did a quick google maps search to see where exactly it is. I'm only 3.5 hours away!!
  3. there's a pair for sale in Austin for $500. You might slap $200 on it and see if it sells ..unless you need to recoup costs asap, you've got the luxury of posting it a couple of places and just waiting for the right person to come along.
  4. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/42024/1298982.aspx#1298982
  5. i bought it used off ebay. not klipsch's fault, and not free to fix, but it's been great to deal with them.
  6. thanks .. can't comment on the sub yet. it arrived DOA and I'm currently awaiting a replacement amp. I've not heard the 12, but i've read lots of good things regarding it.
  7. there's probably a thread on avs forum with user submitted settings.
  8. pics added to the master show-off thread.
  9. not a "theater", but it's my nice little escape and theater alternative. ignore flash reflections in the screen ..it's night and all i have is mood lighting. (watchmen is playing via blu-ray)
  10. the tv is awesome ..without paying twice as much, I can't see how I could gain any improvements over this tv. Not only did they manage to deliver a day early (sunday), but the guy showed up ahead of my scheduled delivery window ...so I've spent the last two days re-watching all my blu-rays and tweaking. defective sub amp should arrive in Hope today ..I'm looking forward to having a full 5.1 again, but I've noticed something interesting. Running the front 3 as large, I have a nice smooth full range and a decent amount of bass out of the 6 x 8" woofers. no regrets in my current setup; i think they call this being content (gasp, sigh, sacrilege). Will post pics soon .. we've been doing the holiday party thing and so the house has been in varying degrees of disarray.
  11. If they sound/feel too far when they are 10' out, you could turn your 83's inward. Sweet room and setup! groovy pad and a very nice setup. toeing in the speakers is generally recommended for proper imaging and sound. It's hard to tell from your pic ..where is the primary listening/watching position?
  12. my marantz sr8001 was $2k new and has a solid 125w per channel. In spite of this, I added a 2 channel amp (from the 80's) to drive my RF-5 mains and the difference was noticeable, VERY noticeable. plenty of headroom and the system overall just sounds full and free. your results very well may vary ..but there's only one way to find out.
  13. mine is built into the male plug on the sub (rt-10d), just below the prongs.
  14. there's no real need to get jumpers if your speaker wire jumpers are working fine.. it would be an aesthetics issue more than anything else.
  15. and me, a cheeky smartass whose only hope was to derail a thread started in earnest. success .. [H]
  16. is it? when picking a semi-universal internet pseudonym a few years back i decided i wanted something that said 19th century british snob. dunno why ..
  17. i opted to RMA the amp. The cabinet is in remarkable shape and the drivers look fantastic, inside and out. The grills are "meh" but will work great until I can get some replacements. i'm tired of hunting down subs, and if this one ends up not being my taste ..it'll at least function and be sale worthy. (though i'm pretty sure i'll love it). I'm quite looking forward to a year or so of just enjoying what i've put together ..
  18. The real audiophiles (like myself) use a Titanium coating instead of a cheap Silver coating. Get your facts straight before you call someone stupid.
  19. youthman is stupid and uninformed. you MUST use 6awg solid gold wire coated in silver and terminated with diamonds.
  20. the impression i'm left with is that I can deal with it, or send back for refund. He's not been rude at all ..but given what he sells and the demographic to which he sells it ...he can't afford to stray from "the policy". i get that. it's frustrating, and I wish I could just upgrade my sub without a bunch of hassle ..but in the end, I still get a great sub in relative excellent shape, for 1/3 the msrp ...not too shabby. klipsch support was wicked fast and efficient and I may not have gotten the white glove warranty treatment ..but I also didn't get hassled or cast aside for buying used. the ps3 thing is annoying, but hopefully null once I hook up the optical cable. so until i have a receiver that supports True-HD and the room for 7.1, i'll manage the rc-7 survived the ups grunts and sounds great ..i'm content i managed to get the tv i wanted without sacrificing to a lesser model or having to purchase scratch and dent (amazon was sold out of new stock for over a week). And it will arrive via freight on monday. so i'm pleased i'm done whining and stressing and would much rather enjoy the holiday time ..thanks guys for tracking this thread and offering advice/support. look for a new thread with a positive beat and a happier michael. happy holidays, etc etc..
  21. Seller won't offer a partial refund and I can't prove he knowingly sent a defective product. I'm going to chalk this up to ebay experience and spend $200 to get a refurb amp from klipsch.
  22. In the case of a RT-10d, it's a $200 flat rate.
  23. haha, right?? I opened it up an all the wires are where they should be.. I haven't removed the amp plate yet to see if there are any torched components. Seller was responsive and offered refund + prepaid shipping return label. there's a part of me, however, that want's to stick it out and get this thing working ..trying to get a hold of a live body at klipsch so I can make an informed decision quickly.
  24. still blows the fuse. here's the listing, which states it's in good cosmetic and functional condition: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160385662696#ht_2531wt_1035 so far, i'm a little disappointed but until I see how they handle the situation I can't really get frustrated. the cabinet/drivers are in good enough shape that there's no way i'm shipping this back
