  1. huge downside to the cf3 will be trying to locate matching center and surrounds in the future not to mention cost for those since they are more rare, also from having the klf series prior I would take good rf's over them anyday for ht... the 82ii for 640 is fantastic and I would grab those in a heartbeat, pretty much brand new speakers on a current lineup will make finding matching speakers a breeze!
  2. Right, but different placements will drop the spl even more so likely the only improvement then will be the balance, your then looking at lower spl all around and under 26hz it probably wont be close then on top of it is the added cost, if the room needs it I would look to other companies to entertain my sub needs as there are alot of dual choices that would yield greater benefits, or look into room treatments I can't say I've dealt with either of these two subs but did have dual rw12d's at one point, and it was to try to tame the room, most people would probably be happy with those, but then again we aren't most people...
  3. sw112 has response to 26hz ± 3dB the discontinued rw12d was 24hz ± 3dB (I am confused why they went backwards with the new lineup?) sw115 has response to 18hz ± 3dB and is 5db louder at 30hz than the sw112 since stacking subs only nets +6db in a perfect situation it would be equal at best then less productive the lower it goes and more expensive
  4. if your going to use them in another setup it will be pretty tough to beat these for the price, but matching center and rears will be tough to find and expensive so I'd recommend 2 channel only if your looking at these, otherwise your likely better off waiting for a reference set, If theres wiggle room in the price those could still be one heck of a buy for 2 channel listening
  5. 250-350 is probably pretty standard for the 10s depending on condition They aren't going to be a very good match for your system, if they were klf20s for 250 I'd be all over them
  6. I went with a belkin pf30, I thought about the pf60 but just couldn't bring myself to spend 200 on what I consider a glorified surge protector, I also bought when they were on sale and it still made me feel like money was going down the can, the last thing I wanted was something shiny sticking out like a sore thumb, mine was mainly for wire management and my 5 dollar surge protector before that did almost as well [] http://www.buy.com/prod/belkin-pureav-pf30-home-theater-power-console/207514354.html buy.com seems to run semi regular sales on belkins pf30 and 60 I have little to no knowledge of the other 2
  7. you didn't mention a price range but here are some blind shots in the dark that all expire today from newegg energy 5 peice for $150 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882269004&nm_mc=EMC-EXPRESS040712&cm_mmc=EMC-EXPRESS040712-_-EMC-040712-Index-_-HomeAudioSpeakers-_-82269004-L03B klipsch 5.1 hd500 $280 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882780018&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL040612&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL040612-_-EMC-040612-Index-_-HomeAudioSpeakers-_-82780018-L017A used / openbox hd1000 klipsch 5.1 $400 http://www.onecall.com/Product/Klipsch/HD-Theater-1000-Open-Box/Home-Theater-System/_/R-99692?PMNID=416&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=99692 martin logan 5 peice $300 or 5.1 $350 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882981012 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16882981013
  8. turn both surround and back to small just so you can test it, just incase they are hooked up in the wrong spot, then send test tones through each speaker so you know they work
  9. why not try the crites upgrade on all your klfs?
  10. Custom built with a semi local cabinet maker. I had the 1st stand weeks ago, but some of my dimensions really made it a tight fit, the first blueprint was misread and failed to fit my center by 1/8". The builder rebuilt and had to reorder all the glass at his cost again since it shifted dimensions just a nudge, very thankful there are still great people out there. I'm very happy for the great service of the job as well as it gave us a 2nd look to revamp everything to make this one better with certain aspects like handle placement and the stain. Now if I only had more components to fill this with...[6]
  11. IMO the only part of Part A that is correct is they are very efficient, getting an amp over receiver makes a great difference on these Part B really holds true, I've had 3 receivers and 4 different amps on the 83s, they love power A xpa-3 will be a nice improvement for the frontstage, I started with emotiva with the xpa3 on the 83s and 64 before adding 2 more speakers and then deciding the xpa2/5 worked best for me EDIT: And welcome to the forum
  12. That bites...while I am no electrician I can tell you I have all of my equipment on a single 15amp breaker, as long as I dont plug in anything else with a big draw down here on the same line my system can run without problems. Thats the ed sub, plasma tv, xbox, umc, xpa2, xpa5 and while running them on 2 breakers would be ideal it is not necessary or practical for me. I think the xpa-2 has the potential to draw around 6A when at max throttle but I've only done that once when first toying with it seriously way to loud with the sensitivity of klipsch. You should however be able to tell which breaker trips once the power blows as only one of them should kick off, try replacing that breaker as well, but if you havent had problems before it may likely be the svs amp itself causing the fault. Also just because you switched walls doesn't rule much out as its probably daisy chained to the other outlet and running on the same line, try a long extension cord into another room but because your xpa-2 is new also I would unplug that and everything else to rule them out and then test the sub by itself. Since you were talking about boxing up the xpa-2, does the sub work with the xpa2 unplugged? What I would first do while motivated, turn 1 breaker off at a time and start labeling that breaker box first so you know where your zones are to test the extension cord idea as well
  13. and closeup within, still have a bunch of wires I just tossed there after getting everything in
  14. quick shot of my new stand that can finally fit all of these giants in it
  15. http://shop.emotiva.com/ take a look at a emotiva xpa-5 as well
  16. Hopefully your stand will fit the beast xpa2, when I got mine I failed to account for it being nearly 8" tall, ended up settling for a audio rack until I got my new stand built
  17. minor details...as long as it sounds good while your floating [Y]
  18. heres a older thread talking about 42s vs 52s http://community.klipsch.com/forums/t/118063.aspx with that said 62s seem like the way to go as you seem to be doing many upgrades currently, with the added sensitivity increase in these and the posibility of you looking into external amps it'll just be that much better in the end...if there ever was an end []
  19. I retract my statement [*-)] I thought you were comparing rf to the rs, some use towers as rears or surrounds I think the only sound difference between rs62 version i and ii is the frequency crossover point in all reality itll probably be tough to tell the difference Aside from cosmetic differences and cost it should be likely a horse a peice I personally like the look of the new grill as well but they say reference on the bottom instead of klipsch [:@], oh well small gripe the rs52s do a fine job also, but 62s do get a better sensitivity and frequency response I had both for a time but can't comment how they will compare to the 42s, no doubt should be an upgrade either which version you choose
  20. 1400 seems very high, have seem then listed between 700-1000 usually, for 1400 I'd grab a rythmik if your open to other brands as from everything I've read they will compete neck and neck with the newer pb13ultra http://www.rythmikaudio.com/FV15HP.html even pb13 ultras tend to list around or less than 1400 used usually so thats another thing to keep in mind as well, for instance these are gone but give you an idea http://audiogon.herokuapp.com/listings/452876 http://cgi.videogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?subwactv&1329061958
  21. Thats awesome, so I assume its a worthwhile upgrade then, any comparisons on output levels between the tht and dual eds?
  22. I've thought the same thing with my backwards compatable 60gb, but the thing is they dont make em like they use too, if I ever decide to upgrade it might be just for an oppo instead since I've only had 2 ps3 games and one is still sealed... Theres always the option to upgrade your hard drive yourself for the cost difference and in the end end up with a bigger harddrive yet Reason to upgrade, newer model less likely to break, less power consumption but a standalone bluray player will in all likelyhood use even less than the ps3 slim anyway I've read that the old ps3s were able to boot and load blurays a little faster but when it came to gaming the new slim ps3s were able to load games faster so a horse a peice but also I read that ps3 slims have a louder disc noise but quiter fans like you mentioned Since you'd lose less options not being able to do sacds anyway it might be worthwhile just for the quiter fans, moderately bigger harddrive, and bitstreaming I say go for it
  23. Its pretty hard for me to get a handle on the Def tec subs, from what I've looked at they are very generious or moderately deceptive to their listed specs for their speakers and subs regarding preformance. For instance this pro sub states it has a response to 18hz, its only 10" and its only 30lbs, even some more expensive ID subs dont make claims to that. If theres no +/-3 db near that number of 18hz the real dropoff response could be anywhere and its usually much much higher if they wont list it. I would upgrade it in the near future when your ready as I think you will want a top knotch preformer with those speakers. The sub doesn't need to be Klipsch and theres many other companies than can give you a bit better boom for the buck in this area. Do you have a pricepoint for a sub?
