  1. From the album: 2016 2 way

    Brick Wall 500
  2. I've added to a pair of stock Cornwall great results. It's a no brainier swap in. If you have a k33 already may consider crossovers or new tweeter.
  3. They were bought and things went crazy on the site design. They got that under control and the changed/ improved he fee structure. A good place to sell. In my opinion. But carts are always a tuff purchase, as are tubes.
  4. The Cornscala D is fantastic speaker. I used bobs baffle too. I cut it down a bit ~1" and extensively beaded it. Using ALK AP12-500 -9db. With kappa 15c. It's a bass monster. Really any awsome speaker. Hope he comes out with a type E. Faital mid horn and his new tweeter. ;-).
  5. Cozy coupe? Never heard a driver by that name. I use the eminence Kapa 15c. It does dig deep with Als network. He has tested many of the "compatible" woofers and has plots on his page. Must that everyone thinks works right, do in fact work as thy should. I wish we had some super crazy awsome woofer but none yet.
  6. Try as many as possible. I'm not a fan of the need for Eq. But there would still be many choices.
  7. Al has simplified it since that post. I'll ask for an update.
  8. A bit from Als FB page on it. "BRICK-WALL crossover - If I made a crossover with slopes faster than my "extreme-slope" networks I would have to call it a brick-wall crossover. The overlap bandwidth is only about 20 Hz wide! I did this one to see if it was possible to tune out the 5 dB dip that always seems to happen around 200 Hz through the woofer filter. The extra parts it would require would give me more elements to work with to tune out the effect of the K33 driver's weird impedance curve. I didn't think so, but I thought I would try it anyhow. The answer is NO! 200 Hz is too low to be influenced by the filter element values. I tried playing with the classic R-C "Zobel" across the woofer too. That didn't help either. This particular network is just too involved to actually build. It requires too many parts! If I did though, it would be a 600 Hz crossover for the Cornwall and just MIGHT fit inside!"
  9. and to be clear. These are being build only for me... LONG LIVE 2Ways. Now someone please build some jubs as 2ways or 904s as 2ways.
  10. I started this project by requesting baffles from Dave. Though I love my 3way with ES networks, I am more found of 2ways and have a small room which doesn't benefit from a tweeter. I had ordered ES500s from ALK but after he posted the idea of the Brickwall filter I was super excited and changed the order. Al is still in process of laying out and assembling. The Slope is significant increased. I hope Ill bring to Newport, but my attendance is a toss up. If just for me, Ill be using B&C DE750s, but if bringing to Newport it will be the Radian with Be diaphragms.

Al is at it again. New Brickwall from ALK... Different take on ES network.
  12. From the album: 2016 2 way

    Braced to the hilt.
  13. From the album: 2016 2 way

Way to many hours spent sanding the horn... Smooth transitions though.
  14. I spoke with Dave and he did say he has asked to leave the forum but can't speak to his reasons. Ive use a ton of dave's horns... I built late in 2015 2 cornscalas one with Eliptrac 240 and the other Eliptrac 400. The owner loved the smaller horn until he heard the 240 horn... The 240horn with the same drivers but crossed lower sounded very close to the the bass from a K horn... Dave's knowledge base is enormous, I do hope he returns... I do hope we start seeing more projects from everyone.
  15. Headphones only need 100mw to 600mw. 300mw should blow you away.
  16. I have 3 amps that do. I do due to a dislike of SS devices and sonics. I chose tubes over SS for the same reasons I chose tubes in other amps. Seems there are 3 major camps for tubes and phones. 1 tube as input to mosfet, 2 tube power amp with transformers (road least traveled) and then otl.
