  1. The new grills use magnets. The new Energy Connoisseur speakers use magnet grills as well. I find they're a lot easier to remove and to place on the speaker than normal grills
  2. US retail prices for all their products are here. http://www.rotel.com/html/retail-price-us.htm
  3. Have you seen this? http://www.rotel.com/products/rsp1066.htm They also make a couple of receivers as well. http://www.rotel.com/products/rsx1065.htm http://www.rotel.com/products/rsx1055.htm
  4. Totem speakers are known for their very musical sound. They sound very neutral, have awesome imaging and create a huge soundstage. While I haven't heard the Dreamcatcher system before, I have heard other Totem speakers. More specifically the Mites, Rokks, and Sttafs. They all sounded incredible for music. But when I tested them for home theatre I wasn't as impressed. They aren't as dynamic as Klipsch for that. If your friend's listening is 90% HT and 10% music I would suggest she go with the Klipsch. If the ratio favoured music, I would suggest the Totems. However she really needs to hear the system herself. Since Totem dealers aren't allowed to send by mail and since they aren't sold on the Internet, I suggest she take a road trip to the closest dealer to test them out. If she were planning on buying them, she would have to travel to a dealer anyway.
  5. UP A good rule of thumb is to simply multiply the SVS price by 2, and that will roughly be the total, including taxes and brokerage fees, in Canadian dollars.

  7. K-Horns and 9NT's in the same room! I like your taste in speakers. I'm going to have a Klipsch/B&W combo in my room soon. I currently have a pair of 602's up front and I'm using my Quintets as rears. Soon I'm going to pick up a pair of RB-5's. I'll use my 602's for critical and laid back listening, and the RB-5's for gaming, home theater and loud music like electronica and hard rock/metal.

He was involved in the "Ghosts of Mars" soundtrack with Satriani(?) and some other Metal band. i think he is Eddie Van Halen with a Kentucky Zfried Chiken bucket for a hat and a white plastic mask. Anybody have a clue who he really is? ---------------- I'm not sure who he really is. He always keeps his mask and bucket on in public. He's currently the guitarist for Guns N'Roses. (That's if you want to call it Guns N'Roses. I prefer Axl Rose's new band.) Never heard his stuff before. Though I have heard a lot of mixed comments about him.
  9. I think the gold Denons are only available in Japan. Kinda sucks. Gold is so much better than the typical boring black and grey.
  10. What's wrong with the 802's? I think they're kick *** speakers. I'm aware this is the Klipsch Forum, but I just happen to love B&W as well.
  11. Integra isn't a new company. They're a division of Onkyo. Their products are of higher quality than regular Onkyos. Their products look nice, but I've never had the opportunity to try them out.

Build quality, looks, sound, they have it all! seems like you only want denon to say you have it. ---------------- I agree. I would also add NAD to that list. They all blow mass market receivers out of the water.
  13. I have the digital one, just because the analog isn't available in Canada. It works great for me. Also, I heard the Analog is being discontinued. If you want the Analog, I suggest you get one while you still can.
  14. I had a Denon DVD-1600 for about a month. I recently took it back. I decided I should buy a new amp before getting new media players. After I get a new receiver, I'm going to in-home audition a Denon DVD-1600, a Pioneer Elite DV-45A and a Panasonic RP-91 and keep what I like best. BTW, in the month I had the Denon, the only gripe I had was with the cheap remote. Everything else was awesome, especially the DVD Audio playback.

    Amelie DVD

Yes, it's an excellent movie. One of my favorites from last year. I really liked the rich and vibrant colours used throughout the movie. I'm not really a video guru, but I'm guessing Amelie would be a great DVD to use when testing TV's and projectors.
  16. Hmm. Those pictures look familiar. I may be thinking about someone else, but I think I remember that guy saying his wife had a strong say in what speakers he could get.
  17. Awesome system! Nice to see you're putting my old Quintet to good use.
  18. I won't. I saw it theatres. I was laughing throughout, not at the funny parts, but at how stupid many of the parts were. Fortunately it was cheap night so it only cost $4 instead of $13.
  19. Even though I think it's the worst Star Wars movie yet, I'll probably still buy it. It had some decent parts and I'm sure it'll have some great sound with an awesome LFE track.
  20. Why don't you get a Denon DVD-1600? I recently bought one and it's nice. It's chroma bug free and it has DVD Audio. Or why not get the DVD-2800II? Same as your current unit but it doesn't have the chroma bug. Edit: Okay, after doing some reading I guess the 2800II has the chroma bug too. But my recommendation for the 1600 still stands if you decide to return your 2800. This message has been edited by oogins on 09-25-2002 at 12:15 AM
  21. For your price range, I would definately consider the Rotel RSX-1055. Check it out.
  22. I placed an order for a silver 1055 today. I was originally set on getting a Marantz 8200, but after hearing the 1055 I quickly changed my mind. Apart from the sound, I also like it's features a lot more. It decodes every the RSP-1066 does and the amps are assignable. And a big plus, it costs over $500 less than the 8200. Rotel has a real winner here.

    Amélie

I rented this movie, as a recommendation from the guy working at the video rental store. I watched it, keeping an open mind for I didn't know what to expect. What an incredible movie! This is the best movie I've seen in years. It has such an uplifting story. It was so good I had to watch it again. It's 10 times better the second time through. You pick up little things that were missed the first time. Who else has seen this amazing movie? Quinze! (Fifteen!)
