  1. 3802 owner here.. Didn't get the AMP setting till I almost lost myself in total rage and confusion. I find the manual terribly confusing unlike Yahmaha's which is clear and to the point. So much of the dennon is controlled from the remote only, if you do not have it set up on AMP to start with your screwed... Buttons do not work... I give it a D- on begining usability sorry. That said, you will LOVE the sound of the Denon 3802. After you get it set up, and use all the possibilities... left, center, right,..2 sides per side..and rear speakers, and a sub. Get a SPL meter (analog) from Radio Shack ...when it is all said and done.. You will be in Audio Heaven. My 2 cents
  2. Klipsch Horns with a KV3 center looking at the fronts....kg 1.5's all the way around for the sides and rear HT set up... At the time, the KV3 sounded fantastic and not too "colored". It was also finished in light oak which matched my K Horns. I just hear everyone rant and rave about the Academy and wonder why? I actually would love a Belle... and a sub too.. (To compensate the Belle going even lower?) for the best heritage system combination. Am I right??
  3. That is cool... Any suggestions on the center speaker for me? I hear a lot about Academy's... Why this line up?
  4. What is that HUGE speaker in the center of your home theatre... Is it an acedemy I have been hearing about, or some other KLipsch speaker??? I have k horns, and I am looking for suggestions for a center/ and sub to keep up with them? This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 05-20-2002 at 12:29 PM
  5. Just wanted to say WOW it does make a huge difference.. 9 speakers...I just need a sub. Left K horn center..rt k horn 2 speakers per side..2 rears... Klipsch all around...OMG I am in heaven with the Denon 3802. Any ideas for a sub with the k horns?
  6. I just bought Dave Brubeck "Time Signatures, A Careeer Retrospective." I think it has almost everything he has done. 59 or so recordings with most of the if not all the HITS too. WOW, what a special night. That would have been fantastic. Wish I was there. He is truely a treasuer in Jazz. Way ahead of his time as far as borrowing all types of music themes and thoughts on how to do it too. I appreciated the 100 page book that came with it describing the time, place, and thoughts on each song. It also includes further insight to his life as a musician. I bought it at Best Buy for $39.99 last night, and just put it into the cd player as I read your message. THAT is kinda scarey.
  7. I wonder if anyone has hooked up their pro media to a pair of K horns yet???? Just a thought. I heard the "pocket radio" demo with a pair of Heresey's when I was all of 12- 13 yrs old. It was amazing. The "trick" was to geta GOOD pocket radio to start with. I, too, saw Peter Frampton in all his glory..."Do you feel like we dooooooo..ahhh thats true.. I want to thank you...." Like everyone...I loved it to. Btw he is back on tour and sounds even better now. I saw the older but better Peter on a demo piece at the local stereo store demo-ing satalite TV. I recently bought a re release on BMG special promotions disc. Peter Frampton. If you can imagine 16 min of "Do you feel".. Ok over kill, but awesome!!! 8. Texas Chainsaw Massacre wasn't that scary, but something in the movie bothered me for years! The hitch hiker that cut himself bleeding in the van just to scare and gross out the people that picked him up. Reminded me of some crazed **hole that would get off on some kind of psychotic crazed stuff like that. To this day, I do not pick up hitch hikers, unless of course she looks like Pamela Anderson. LOL, Just wouldn't be right to leave her all alone stranded and in the country...LOL> J/K
  9. I saw two versions at Radio Shack.. One for 39 dollars... Analog. Second one for 59 dollars... Digital, more features. Any thoughts either way NOT looking at the price which one is better? Looking to use them to get a proper HT setup for all the speakers. Thanks. PS. (I am always willing to pay more for quality, if it makes sense in the long run.) Thank you for your suggestions.
  10. Just glad to help out. I, too, looked at the usual outlets like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and others in town last weekend with no luck. So, I went back to this thread and ordered mine through Rutlage. FYI, Justin.. and others.... I have a picture of Paul that came from some kind of brochure of him in the non echo chamber. (anechoic?) He standing next to a K Horn that is framed in my office. I asked him to sign it when I was all of maybe 17-18 yrs old. I owned a pair of Heresey's and they did this thing with your speaker cabinets in Indiana where you brought in your speakers to the Hi Fi store, and they ran a sound wave and with a mic... and printed a graph to make sure your speakers were, in fact, still working up to stuff as a "promo" here. (My guess was they showed a lot of other speaker manufactuers sucked.. Could prove it..on paper..and took a lot of trade ins that day!! Now that I am older...I am sure very un scientific too.) I had Paul sign my brochure..He laughed, and said, "Why do you want me to sign this?" I said, "Because someday I want to be able to purchase some Klipschorns and having this while I am sitting at my desk, will motivate me to work hard and succeed." I know *corney* to tell everyone here..But it is a true story. When I graduated from college and got my first "REAL" job I saved my money and yes, did in fact, buy them new and still own them. This was before the BB and Ebay..LOL. Just a few thoughts. I also got a pocket knife (I am not sure what to call it, screwdriver combo) that said, "Stolen from Paul Klipsch." Almost afriad to show it to anyone as a kid..afterall said it was stolen. LOL
  11. Best Debut... No question... Britney Spears Her first CD closely followed by Spice Girls. I know this will make the hair stand up on peoples backs on this board...( ok women hair on their legs??LOL..J/K) But, facts are facts. You can read all this in the Guiness book of records..and the Billboard Music archives. Mine is a year old, but I do not think anyone was really over the top in 2001? 12. I agree cheaper.... But not in stock yet..when I looked this am.
  13. 24 x 15 What would you use in this situation and why Klipsch speaker wise? Basement, dedicated "HT" room. I have the Dennon 3802. Could go Heritage or new RF series, YOU decide. Thanks, in advance, for your thoughts!
  14. What did you think..??

  16. It does seem like "good family" doesn't it? I agree, for the most part, this is an incredible board. Some people seem to live on here too. LOL (OK, sometimes I get hooked on a great question or comment too.) Bottom line is I think we have respect for one another, because we love this incredible Klipsch speaker company that brings sooooo much joy into our lives. We have people from many different, I am sure, Social, Economic, Philisophical, and Religious backgrounds. And in a funny way of looking at it, I am sure 100% our speakers do not care what is played through them too. LOL... (OK, I just know jokingly some Klipschorn speaker is saying to itself, "What?, Bag Pipe music again>>>?? Doesn't he EVER get sick of this?" hahahahahaha) I would love to have a Summer/ Fall get together somehow at the Klipsch Headquarters in Indy. The building is looking pretty good with the new sound test facility. Maybe they could have all the line up for us to hear too. If not, a Tour would make it worth while too. We could meet people who are on the BB from Klipsch etc., etc. (Could also be a "swap meet" for those interested in buying and trading, Local dealer could offer Speakers for sale...as a "Sponsor" of the event.) There is a huge parking lot in front of the headquarters. Hotels are walking distance in the area with good food that would please most everyone. The airport is like 15-20 min MAX away for those flying in. What a treat that would be! Plus, Indy is so centrally located to most of the USA, it would be easy for most to come in on say a weekend too. We were not called the Crossroads of America for nothing. Besides, wouldn't your curiosity just go nuts to meet some of the people off of here too? I know mine would. Just a thought.
  17. Please respond to my comments in the "Should the Cornwall be re issued Informal Poll." Thanks. I used this, because I know your instant message does not work yet. Sorry to use a topic but wanted yours and others thoughts too. Roger
  18. Wow those would have been perfect behind a scrim for a home theatre... Sorry I missed out..I will look again if he rebids them on Ebay!! At $800.00 say about $200.00 to get them to INDY for a total of 1k.. I would have to think of a good reason NOT to do it. LOL
  19. remember 60-75% of the dialoge in a HT goes through the center speaker. So if your going use this for HT,.... YES Bose...I mean BLOSE, OK Bose, has a new amp that psycho-acoustically adjusts somehow...a center channel effect. I read a 5 page spread on the technology in Scientific Technology magazine about a year ago... explaining how they did it. BOSE liscenced it. It is pretty cool, but for $999.00 and some crappy speakers... Wish I could hear it with some Klipsch speakers instead..LOL. This message has been edited by IndyKlipschFan on 05-08-2002 at 12:24 PM
  20. All heritage in the front I agree. Use only one Heresy for the center channel. The other heresy can be a center BACK channel if the amp supports this too. Look at the newer Denon or Yamaha amps 200-400 range. Might give you a lot of Bang for the buck.
  21. did the Paul HAAAAAAAAAARVEYY ad get to you..?? LOL Good Day!!!!! Kinda like the woman that sold her hubbies Ping Irons and Drivers for a 200 dollar "graphite" set at Walmart on trade in?? OUCH Say it isn't so!!!
  22. I hit send, and darn *&@#$@#*#$@# if I was about 30 seconds too late. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1351591874 @%(#$%$# Wow a great buy!!!
  23. Seb said, "your dealer, like the majority of them and the home theater enthusiast poupulation, is wrong. there can be no overkill at the center. it is the single most important speaker in home theater, as 60-75% of the sound goes to the center channel." I agree here too. If you were ever gonna make a mistake and go BIGGER, here is the place. Nothing worse than a bad center IMO especially again 60-75%+ of the dialoge comes from here. My 2 Cents
  24. Important message. (I use "..." in Emails to mean take a breath and think... Just so you know.) OK, Folks, Folks is cool. I have been called worse in my life. I have noticed what seems to be a lot of interest in Cornwalls in this BB. Long live the Corwalls. I, too, LOVE these speakers also. Therefore I would like to take a little poll. Wow, didn't we go through 8 years of polling? OK, sorry, no more political remarks said... Please assume that these questions are based upon construction materials and techniques used in the models produced previously. Here goes: 1. Should the Cornwall be made available again? Why or why not? Yes. It is part of the Heritage line up. It is by far the most talked about speaker on this board. Al K has made a great career even Tweaking it. That doesn't mean it is bad... Rather people love, care, and feel this speaker is incredible and WORTHY of keeping and tweaking too. 2. If it is made available again should it be available in its early configuration with vertical horns, or its later configuration with horizontal horns, or both? Why? Let the horns go the same way the K horn, Belle, La Scala and Heresy go from left to right. Why you ask? Because it is the same and looks to fit in with the other equipment. You could put it on a rotating disc like the ki362's (I think that is the number) if this really becomes an issue. 3. If it is made available again, should the decorator style be made available, or just the fine veneered style, or both? Why? I would say three styles you choose the wood veneer... And of course raw birch, too, if it is a cost saver. With so many options to stain or paint speakers today leave it up to us to decide would be great. Would also allow for people in the home theater to do the "Black Stain" at a big savings too. 4. If the decorator style was made available, should it be offered in the early flush front model, or the later drop-in front model, or both? Why? I do not think this is a big issue. If your talking about the grill here. If your talking about the horns and woofer... Load them from the inside like the K Horn, La Scala, Belle, etc., etc. 5. Should special options in the cabinet be available at, of course, extra cost to the customer? If so, what would you like to see as special options? (E.G., industrial finish, handles, front finished the same as the other panels and no grill cloth, metal grating installed between woofer and front in lieu of grill cloth, etc. put on your thinking cap here) Are you considering these for CLUB use? Or to be used say for live sound? The original La Scalas in the flightcase look with black plexi glass and metal trim with upgraded woofer and some high end protection too with side handles were a cool PA cabinet yes. But Klipsch has no interest really in this. As proof, look at my post dated several weeks ago in the Pro line section. Where is Dave Walsh?? No one from Klipsch even answers the post. I never I mean NEVER see Klipsch out for live sound such a pity too. I still think the La Scala, Heresy, Maybe the Cornwall and the monster MCM system would have to be marketed and used for people to appreciate it too in a live sound band or DJ/Karaoke Jock set up. Most live Pa Speakers suck IMO... It would be a welcome change, believe me, from someone that has used them for live sound too. 6. What would you consider a reasonable MSRP for the Cornwall relative to the current MSRP for other Heritage models in a "stock" configuration? This is the killer... On Ebay say a used pair go for 700 low end, to as high as 2200. I know. I look almost daily as a "Hobby checking Klipsch prices" as I call it. LOL I think the new (Old)speakers cant be priced too much or people will not buy them. I think somewhere in the current RF-3 and RF-7 line up, so each one say is MSRP of 1000 to 1800 (I know a big gap, sorry, I do not have the correct numbers to know the price of the components to justify anything, just a gut feeling...) BTW the BLUE BOOK at Ovation Audio in Indy has the Cornwalls at 240-350 dollars... But we ALL know we will never see em that low on Ebay... LOL. 7. Should current owners who want a cabinet upgrade or replacement be given the option of having a new cabinet built using the original serial numbers with a special serial number designator attached to denote the upgrade and the original driver/horn/crossover? Why or Why Not? This is odd. I say that because if you really wanted a new cabinet, have one made. You can always re stain or paint it. Do you want to own something say a piece of art...that is changed by an apprentice or added too. (Well, maybe Thomas Kinkade does sorry LOL.) I would have loved to have seen a K Horn in Zebrawood I bet it was just incredible. I saw a pair done in black with a high gloss like a piano once... That too was incredible. How about just issue a pink pass from Klipsch. Hehehehe Include it inside the cabinet... This guy didn't like the original design and decided to change it. Please excuse him for putting curb feelers on this Porsche of a speaker. OK maybe I am too harsh. Did you ask this because there is a market for say someone with old beat up cabinets to trade them in? ( Who gets the old ones? Or can you sell the Old ones on Ebay too? This is a whole can of worms not sure where your going with here. If the Integrity of these fine cabinets is intact... What's the gain to Klipsch people will go to some Speakerparts place like part express and order what they think should go in them? And wouldn't that indeed ruin the line? BTW I now have at home K Horns, Cornwalls, and Heresy's. (Plus other Klipsch speakers in a HT setup) I have used 4 La Scalas in college. (Live music/DJ situations.) I have also played through a MCM system that really was incredible. What I really liked more than anything else... They sounded just as good as the best stereo systems speakers. E.G., really loud, distortion free, and rocked for hours. And NOTHING ever broke too. OK that's my 2 cents.
  25. Just use the drill bit chuck. This has been my idea for some time ... to use something like a drill bit chuck on the back of any receiver/amp to accept any size wire. I have a friend that is a patent attorney working on this as we speak... Course by telling you I am screwed if I can do it anyway. It's just one of those, "wow" this really makes sense things. Must be very inexpensive and offer a standard and gold plated version for the esoterics..LOL. Maybe I could get help from AL K to market this too?
