  1. Thanks. They are beautiful and sound even better and that is coming from a previous forte and Chorus II owner. Now I have the itch to make them sound even better.
  2. Maybe a bit over the top but Cliffdesign! Cool website(with audio on) http://www.clifdesigns.com/clif/
  3. I just recently became a very happy owner of some La Scalas. I am looking to improve my system and first off I wanted to get a new amp. I was on the look out for a used McIntosh solid state. I can get a McCormack DNA-1 Deluxe should I pursue it or wait for a Mac? Right now I am using a Kenwood Basic M2A. As always your help is greatly appreciated.
  4. All I can say is: I just recently replaced Chorus IIs with a a pair of LaScalas and I am very very pleased with my new setup.
  5. don't give up yet BigCliff--Carson Palmer is coming to town and he's got a huge chip on his shoulder (which is usually a very good thing for an athlete). That is great news well that should be big help, but It will take time to understand a new system hope it all works out.
  6. The Packers will go if they stay healthy, in particular Aaron Rogers he is the key. As for the AFC that is not clear. New England did not look real sharp this past week, but every team has one of those weeks. In my heart I am hoping the Raiders would surprise everybody, but with losing Jason Campbell that may be impossible now.
  7. Youthman, The Marantz I had for music listening, only sounded good in 2 speaker plus sub mode. When I went to any other mode for music listening I did not really care for the sound. I think you would be happy with the 3600. When I was deciding on which receiver to buy I too was thinking about the newer Marantz. Here search this thread that I started I think it may be of some help to you: HELP with selecting my next home theater receiver
  8. I had a Marantz ZR 6001 which I replaced with the HK AVR 3600. The HK stereo mode is much better then the Marantz was, also can code 5 channel stereo very good. The Marantz was good only in Stereo mode with just 2 main speakers working other modes did not sound very good. As for HT they are comparable except for the fact that the HK decodes the newest technology and also has HDMI, and upgrades 1080i to 1080p.
  9. A pinch runner is a substitute used for a runner who is already on base. A pinch runner can be used at any base, and in certain situations, can even enter a game between bases when a player who is entitled to advance to a base without ability to be put out is unable to proceed to that base because of injury (rule 5.10©(1)).
  10. Most of the time (not all) I will listen just before bedtime. I turn the lights down very low almost dark, sit on my perfectly placed couch, drink at my side. Put on a CD and relax, when my head starts nodding or I temporarily fall asleep it is time to go up to bed.
  11. Better get the camber right also. I have my Fortes angled upward slightly. That would be caster actually. OK OK Carl I knew that when I posted it that someone would get technical on me. If looking at them from the front or back then it could be camber.
  12. Better get the camber right also. I have my Fortes angled upward slightly.
  13. I have used the Carver C-1 preamp with a Kenwood Basic M2A powering both Chorus IIs and Fortes. It sounded fantastic, that is all I can tell you.
  14. I would say either the VTF-2 or the SVS, with my overall choice being the SVS.
  15. Trial and error, room acoustics will determine exact position. Aim them at different angles until you like what you hear.
  16. What I would do is get two speaker stands and put one in the corner to your right and the other somewhere to your left near the rear wall. Aim the speakers at a 45 degree angle to the rear wall and at your listening position.
  17. Most manuals will tell you the proper set up for your receiver. For my Harman Kardon it says to leave the rear surrounds empty.
  18. Here are a couple close to your budget you might consider: SVS PC12 NSD http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl-pc12_nsd.cfm OR SVS PB-12 NSD http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl-pc12_nsd.cfm
  19. USA! USA! Great tournament enjoyed all the games I watched.
  20. If it were me I would work on getting a deal on the Heresy IIs. Great 3 way sound, get a good sub to go with them down the road and you are all set.
  21. I am a little disappointed that PA did not make it. But you have to tip your hat to CA's starting pitcher, who pitched his maximum of 85 pitches with out allowing any runs.
  22. What they said was Mt goes to the US championship game and plays the winner of CA and PA. I would think that whoever plays them would have to beat them twice but that is not how the announcers stated it.
  23. Good game last night 0-0 after six, walk off home run bottom of seventh, gotta love it. PA and CA next for the right to play MT for the championship. One thing though, it seems unfair to MT that they could be eliminated with their first loss, or am I wrong about that?
  24. Here are some ideas in a lesser price range: http://www.hsuresearch.com/products/stf-2.html http://emotiva.com/ultra_sub12.shtm https://svsound.com/products-sub-box-sb12nsd.cfm
  25. Definitely was somewhat tense the last two innings. Was it just me, or was the ump calling that low pitch, from the PA closer differently from the fifth to the sixth inning. Seemed to me in the fifth inning he was giving him the very low strike but not so in the sixth inning.
