I think a lot of us have the same collecting passion, as the most "significant speakers" I have, are altec 604 8-g's a vast percentage of the music we listen to that was recorded pre mid-eighties, was mastered on a speaker of this type, the sound is unbelievable. Better than my cornwalls, a whole different league than my 901's, and in my space they are better than my altec model 19's. Good luck with your search.

If someone could tell me an approximate value of any of these pieces it would be great! My local antique auction is selling them today, and I have looked everywhere, with no success. Also, if you have heard any of these pieces and can comment it would be great! Thank you Audio Research sp-15 and separate power supply Krell KSA-80 Goldmund studietto turntable -

Simply awesome!!! -
Motorcity, that looks like a great idea, but if you used silicone caulk you may want to let it dry a few days. When silicone gasses it can break down adhesives. Good luck!

Kinda cool like your dog! Bet you have a big truck too! Wait are you hanging out in your "man cave"

I would use Vampire wire that is continuous cast copper wire that was devoloped for the Japanese superconductor program. It is inexpensive and I have heard that many high end speaker lines use it. Michael Percy audio caries it.

Yes, you would have to increase the size for the bracing. There are some great online calculators that can help with volume, I am sure someone will post a link shortly. Good luck and take lots of pictures1

This is in the top 3 insane systems, I have seen by a company the "mass produces" speakers, but that crossover looks like something out of a NASA project! Great for you, maybe you should charge admission? What did the say in that movie...... IF YOU BUILD IT THEY WILL COME.

Listened to Cornwalls for the first time today
juniper8 replied to wuzzzer's topic in 2-Channel Home Audio
Wuzzer that was fun!!! And thanks again!!! Always like a new piece gear, and very nice to meet a forum member!!! I think the Cornwalls and the XR will be a good match, although I think the oppo may be a little bit electronic sounding with it. I think after I dial it in a little bit, I will finally replace those caps. One note about the Corns, the bass does tighten up a bit when the risers are installed. Thanks once more!!! -
where to find a 16" round mesh speaker cover?
juniper8 replied to juniper8's topic in General Klipsch Info
They are altec test cabinets with altec speakers. I just didn't want dust to get all over the woofers surrounds, the "mastic"? that was used is very sticky and anything that lands on it stays on it!!! -
where to find a 16" round mesh speaker cover?

Parts express only has kits for diy, that may be my only only option! I may have to get a router, but I truly dislike cutting wood! I just had some speakers made and then had to brace them with about 40' feet of bracing, plywood dust is no fun for me! I am a little sensitive to dust and glues. thanks -

I have been looking for press fit 16" or 18" mesh speaker covers for my new speakers and cant find them anywhere. If anyone knows where I can get a pair or have some made? I would truly appreciate it! Thanks

My wife had one of those dogs that ended up being mine. They are so smart it is scary!!! Ours was potty trained in 3 days! One time I had a hang nail and grabbed a rock from a fountain and proceeded to file it with a rock, as soon as I put the rock down, the dog filed his front paws for 15 minutes. Ours had seven or 8 bones that all had different names and he would retrieve them by name.

They are 604 8g's in a 612 type cabinet, and I must say for a small format speaker, they sound very good! The mid-bass is insane if you like "attack" and clarity in your music, once dialed in, these could be hard to beat in a small space. They are wild, my wife who could have gone to oberlin as a violinist, even pulled out a guitar today!

I have had these since high school and haven't had a chance to hear them for 15yrs! what a shame! With some types of music they are very interesting! I must say they are the clearist "rock and roll speakers" I have ever heard !
