  1. I found the specs under Home Audio / Synergy /Subwoofers... Doug
  2. Can't give you any specifics (except to say that they will sound better than Quintets). You can find the specs for the 1.1s on the Klipsch web site, under Home Audio. Take the "Classic" link and then scroll down to the KSB 1.1. After you click on it, you can see the specs on the left of the screen. Doug
  3. If you're looking to determine their age, this thread might help... http://216.37.9.58/ubb/Forum9/HTML/001227.html
  4. I'm surprised you got no help at 1-800-KLIPSCH. Maybe Trey and Matt are on vacation?? Ask for tech support and one of them ought to help you out. They might be a little extra busy with the new product line intro... Doug
  5. Logik - See how cheaply you can pick up a Denon 3801 receiver. If you look hard, I think you can get close to your $800 (or below), and have a heckuva unit. Doug
  6. Somebody told me they saw KLF-10s at the Price Club/Costco in San Diego for about $240 each!!
  7. CGR - I have a pair of KG4s, and I used a KV-3 center channel which matched very nicely. You can also use the KG2.2v or KV-2. They show up on Ebay from time to time, as they are not available new anymore. You can get any of them for around $200 or less. As a not-totally-self-serving aside , I will be selling my KV-3 as soon as I can pry another pair of Klipsch Fortes from a local contact. I no longer use my KG4s as my front speakers, so I am changing my center channel. I can you let you know when I am able to sell the KV-3, if you'd like. It is black in PERFECT condition. 8. Wonder if the SS-.5's would fare any better in a pinch? Or perhaps the SS-1s? But at that point, save a few more pennies and go for the RS-3s...
  9. I used to take Stereophile Guide to Home Theater. It's fun to read, but most of the stuff is pretty pricey, and not in my range yet. I switched to Sound and Vision, and it is a lot more practical for me right now. Doug
  10. You'll probably also need to tell your receiver that you have a sub connected to it. When you wire it only via the speaker level (like you have now), you set the fronts to large and say sub "no." That usually causes the receiver to route the LFE to the front speakers, which (in your case) gets the LFE to the sub. Doug
  11. quote: Originally posted by drewzter: Can you really tell the difference between one of their component interconnects and one from Radio Shack (the 'more expensive' ones at Rat Shack w/ gold connectors, etc)?? Drewzter - You just hit the nail on the head. Can YOU tell the difference? That's all that's important, in my view. Personally, I could not. Buy some of each and give them a listen -- return what you don't want. I have a mix of Radio Shack, Monster, and Acoustic Research. The Monster I DO have I found as Open Items at Best Buy, and it wasn't much more than the other two, so I figured "why not." Doug
  12. This was posted on the board sometime back by a pretty reliable source (not me), so I'll pass it along for those who missed it... Doug This message has been edited by dougdrake2 on 07-05-2001 at 01:21 AM
  13. The local Showcase Home Entertainment in Scottsdale has a pair of RF-7s, but I haven't taken the time to listen yet. Anxious to, though!! Doug
  14. Maybe this will help? http://216.37.9.58/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000510.html http://216.37.9.58/ubb/Forum8/HTML/000427.html This message has been edited by dougdrake2 on 07-04-2001 at 02:58 AM
  15. Looks nice and cozy. What's hidden inside the wooden China doll on top - a set of nesting Bose cubes? (Kidding....)
  16. DWK - Don't sit by your computer waiting for your "You've got mail" to ring (LOL). As a member of the Klipsch Fan Club, I swore to secrecy. It was part of the initiation process in Hope last February. I'm just messin' with Phil... Doug

I guess I don't see that the water would go out the other y-tip because there is a filter in that other y-tip that won't let bass water through it. (It's a high-pass filter which only lets water above 100hz through it). I think I'm out of thoughts on this. The rocket scientists went home early for the 4th!! (LOL). Have a nice holiday. Doug

  19. Way to stir up everyone's curiosity, Phil!! Now, I wonder if I should mention what your field rep (Ken Cooper?) may have hinted about at the new Ultimate Electronics store opening this weekend...
  20. Welcome, Neilo. Your life and your wallet will never be the same! You are looking for sonically matched front speakers. The SC-.5 has the identical tweeter as the SB-1s, has the same crossover point (2700 hz), and almost identical sensitivity (91 vs 92 db). The SC-1 uses a different tweeter, different crossover (lower), and different sensivity (higher - which means it will play louder with a given input signal - however, that can be adjusted in your receiver). I'd say get the SC-.5. Can you get both and listen to them, and return the one you don't want? Doug This message has been edited by dougdrake2 on 07-03-2001 at 04:47 PM
  21. Yes . I'm picturing one of those little y-adapters that you buy at Home Depot that screws on the hose bib on your house, so you can hook two hoses to one spigot. Each of the 2 resulting ends has its own valve on it, feeding separate hoses. Doug
  22. Charles - I can't recall the specifics, but I think I recently saw a Mac tuner at my favorite local (Phoenix) used audio store. They may be happy to ship. Call either Steve or Richard at Audio Alternative, (602) 957-1332. They are a reputable outfit, and I've bought several Klipsch speakers and some other components from them. Doug
  23. Continuing, then, with my speculation ... I don't think there is one water pipe involved here. I think there are two taps off a single main pipe (the speaker level input into the sub). One tap feeds the sub and the other tap feeds the speaker level outputs. The 100hz high pass filter is on the tap feeding the speaker level output, and it has a fixed opening that will never change. The other tap has the variable low pass valve on it. Opening or closing the variable valve on that tap will have no effect on the amount of water let through the fixed valve on the speaker level tap. But I'm just guessing...Does anyone know a good plumber (BobG, Jim, Phil)? Doug
  24. Tom - Bring home the 20's and do an A/B comparison with your Forte's, with the C7 in the center. That's the only way you'll know for sure and not lay awake nights wondering! Doug
