  1. Yup, that's true Youthman - at least for now !!
  2. good find and nice matching !! now it's time to enjoy the hard work
  3. Our prayers with family, may God give the strength to deal with this difficult time.
  4. Yes, the Rotel DVD player in my signature would be connected to the Rotel preamp, then to the Acurus A200 amp. So, in that case you'll have to make sure that Rotel Preamp and Acurus A200 amp impedences are matching.
  5. No offense, but per Klipsch rep it's "Subjective"... I had a long discussions on this topic with Klipsch rep... Needless to say, either he didn't understand or didn't digest the issue at hand. Quote (reply from Klipsch Representative): Thank you for your being a long-time, multiple model, Klipsch brand owner and for reaching out to our Product Support group. Each product line and specific model would be engineered and designed to meet or exceed performance standards set by our engineering and design group, within the parameters of the marketing group* for that particular model and price-point. Sorry, we do not recommend, suggest, or support any alteration/modification of any model from that which it would have been engineered and designed. The Klipsch Forum would be a free-form of expression (with reasonable limits as defined in the Forum terms) and we do not condone or support any product modification or DYI projects. While we do appreciate your desire to make modifications, and understand that sound and the perception of sound will always be very subjective and personal, we cannot support any modifications as they would be purely experimental. It would be unfair to compare any other Klipsch model to the Palladium line as in 2007, the engineering group was for the most part, given a blank sheet of paper with no cost limitations (*even free from marketing persuasion), to create a brand new, three-way design from the ground up- thus the Palladium line was created. The Reference product line was created in1999 and several generations of refinements have occurred with the latest refinements occurring in the fifth generation MK II models back in 2010 (there are no current intentions for changing the RF-7 II that we are aware of). The newest Reference Premiere line has just been released with the model RP-280F being the largest in this new line of models. http://www.klipsch.com/rp-280f. Hope this helps offer some insight. Sorry we are not able to make any modification suggestions. Unquote:
  6. I figure, Rotel is going to get connected to Preamp and then Preamp is going to be connected to Amplifier which will be Acurus A200. 99% there won't be an issue between Rotel's digital or analog output matching with preamp's input. The matching is more of a question between preamp and amplifier.

  8. check out the specification page of the amp. If it's not mentioned then call the technical support of the manufacturer.
  9. Whichever pre-amp you choose, make sure that it matches impedence of Acurus amp channel. Sometimes, it causes unforseen issues. This is where, Pre-Post from same manufacturer and product series comes in play for which they typically want you to go bankrupt.
  10. Don't worry... Even as engineers we make mistakes - and sometimes pay big time
  11. Exact same tweeter with two cross over points for the mid-range of RP-450C, with different size of woofers between RP-450C and RP-280F. If same technical design principle is applied then it'll be a "tappered array" for center channel to allow two cross over points at 500Hz and 1500Hz to better produce midrange. This might be the place where it'll drastically differ from RP-280F apart from the woofers. That said, unless same frequencies of a given instrument(s), surround/directional effects and male/female voices are played from fronts and center channel it seems one can use a near about center channel when using in HT. Also, when used in HT, center channel produces 80-90% of dialogue-audio with left, right, and surrounds for effects-audio. When used in Stereo configuration center channel is out any way unless all five (in 5.x) including center is used to produce stereo music. Due to dialogue heavy nature of function of the center channel it seems manufacturer typically go with smaller woofers with exact same tweeter to provide good high/mid range. From technical aspect, there has to be a reason for having a tappered array (Kind a 3-way design) to a 2-way design of floor stander. I had a good discussion with a technical person at Klipsch and his view was that one needs to rely on the "Objective" testing while doing a comparison or otherwise testing as "Subjective" testing will be different to each. I believe, what he meant here is that if "Objective" testing doesn't show a given frequency in the measured spectrum then there's a good chance of one not hearing in the "Subjective" testing. Hope this analogy helps! Not sure, if you have a way to hear them and see what you like !! Your ears are the "Final Judge" !!
  12. Certainly requires a heat shrink sleeve on them to avoid shorting out those connections... best is not to use this type of banana jack at all. Asthetic apart, it might fry amp channel if not adequately protected.
  13. Welcome to Klipsch forum !! Center channel is all about HT experience and I'll say get the biggest and badest... I've a colleague who tried more than double digit center channel speakers, while I'm happy with the Klipsch RC-64 II and to the extent surprised when the big bang sound comes out of the center channel. I've heard about timber matching, etc., but there is no dialogue coming out of 5.1 and higher up set up, so not sure, how and where it matters... I've tried my best, but left and right fronts are not that visible - audible in most 5.1 material out there from dialogue delivery aspect. I've not heard of new Reference series but I don't see them comparable to RC-64 II just because of the sheer size of RC-64 II woofers and its performance !!
  14. solder solder solder with enough flex... or simply bare connection with wire strands - make sure in this case not a single wire strand is touching anything else... This is how all of my 10 gauge wire connections are made on 9 speakers and at AVR...
  15. Since it's a passive speaker 99% it might not matter fixing it with adhesive and natural fibers. You might want to check out with Klipsch store as re-cone parts might be dirt cheap. All the best for the fix.
  16. It's a very vibrant, knowledgeble, mostly polite and passoinate community. Fortunately, I don't see fall-outs as fellow Klipschers discuss, learn and understand the points made. I love Klipsch and Klipschers...
  17. While not quite wrong, it's interesting and typical from the customer's aspect that we often look at the components used and forget what's involved to create a product... That said, quite often it's the not the components' value/cost that play the major role, but the Non Recoverable Engineering (NRE) cost to create/invent a mechnical, electronic and production design are THE big contributors to the overall cost. Unless deep pockets, due this high NRE, most often companies doesn't undertake such a project !!! Some highlights of Klipsch Palladium as below: - Project Goal: "No time and cost limit" objective to achieve the highest Klipsch standards set forth for Palladiums - Engineering and Design: Teams from three continents - in addition to the US engineering team, Klipsch partnered with BMW Group DesignworksUSA with BMW design studio to break the "boxy shell" and British theoretical physicists and manufacturing/production specialist from China - Echo friendly - exotic zebra-grain Linia veneer with a mulit-layer 1" or thicker "boat-tail" enclosure - Aluminum base and boat end on P-39Fs, with two length-sets of spikes and floor protecting discs - Unique carbon-infused, thermoset composite dual-horn configuration - Tweeter: proprietary tweeter design, combining a chambered phase plug and Tractrix® Horn for extended high-frequency response - Midrage: 90º by 60º acoustically dampened Tractrix Horn is coupled to the midrange driver - Crossovers: High quality electronic parts designed and tuned to get smooth transition from driver to driver i.e. speaker to speaker - Each pair has matched set of 5 speakers for Left and Right Speakers - If I remember correctly then each pair include a certificate with audio curve specification If you add up all of the above, for the manufacturer to be profitable for a given product, require to sell enough quantity of speakers.
  18. Very interesting discussions which changed the tune from "Autopilot" to "Remote Pilot" as the new details came out. I love controls !!! There might have been a chance if a crew member was in the cockpit. Probably, there is a very easy way to remote pilot just with escorting the plane. We do escort the plane in all/most emergency situation - this is just another case, which needs additional mode to take over in case of one pilot or all pilots not responding for xyz reasons. Ofcourse, there are so many ways to cause troubles, so it's going to be endless chain of controls, by-pass, over-rides, auto-xyz, etc.. Quite disturbing taking the lives of on-board people !! May God help all these families to deal with this difficult time.
  19. The 83's have a very laid back sound. Somewhat not your typical "Klipsch sound" so I'm not sure how much you could compare 83's to Palladiums. Probably, from that aspect, Klipsch did a fantastic job with RF-7 II. Took care of most of the "cons"... I love both RF-7 IIs and P-39Fs... Kind of unique in their given price range.
  20. Scrappy, Fantastic speakers... now it's time to enjoy them...
  21. I doubt that since one is 2-way while other is 3-way design. Crossover is one aspect while individual transducers (speakers) for each range is another. That said, either system if not designed properly will show the deficiency. e.g. every time when you deal with the crossover point, there is a huge chance of loosing a frequency band, while on the other hand trying to produce all frequencies with one or two speakers produces other challenges.
  22. Let's hope that truth comes out !! It's very strange that there wasn't a distress call from pilot. Unless they lost electrical power and/or all type of available onboard communication. Not sure if this generation of aircrafts has battery to back up critical electrical controls system and communication - I can only imagine that it has to be part of safety/redundancy! To an extent we all live in some sort of controlled enviornment - it's just matter of % probability that we always try to dodge the bullet with! Unfortunately, only few unlucky actually face it while rest of us live... Prayers with families affected.
  23. Same here JMON... Although, I don't have any KHorns nor have heard them before, but I'm very curious to audition them if I get a chance...
  24. Or probably a used pair of Palladium P-39F...
  25. You did great, if this was the B&W discussion forum! I'm not a big fan of the B&W 804's, they are a little thin on top. How about a pair of Palladium P-37's for the L/R? That is $8,000 for the pair and it gives the good doctor really nice options if he wants to upgrade to a full home theater setup in the future. http://www.klipsch.com/p-37f-floorstanding-speaker/details Or perhaps Palladium P-38Fs...
