  1. If you use MS Office, make sure you use OneDrive and not just My Documents. That stores data offline and even keeps versions so if something is corrupt, you can get to it. ICloud also is good for storing data like pictures if you use an iPhone or other iDevices. Bottom line is you store on the cloud, then lightning strikes don't worry you as much.
  2. Before I would say it's fine to run a 4 ohm speaker, I would like to know what you are connecting it to. A 4 ohm Heresy will draw twice the watts as an 8 ohm Heresy. A big beefy amp can handle that, but just know that if you have the same current in amps that cutting the impedance in half also cuts the wattage the amp is capable of. In other words, a 50 watt 8 ohm amp would be 25 watts, etc. So what amp or receiver are you hooking up to?
  3. What do you mean cut them at 150Hz? never mind, I see that is Atmos cutoff...
  4. Excellent Wardsweb! How fast is that 914? Those 914's set up correctly are lightning fast on autocross tracks.
  5. Do the kids ever turn a wrench? I've got some good memories of teaching my kids impatience patience and a skill that will follow them through the rest of their life. They can also see me doing something I have a passion for.
  6. Man I need some coffee. It is raining here and cool.. Such a welcome relief, but I'm not gonna get to work on the deck today because of it. The clock is ticking....
  7. I really like these. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1975-KLIPSCH-HERESY-PAIR-WITH-NEW-MARBLED-ETIMOE-VENEER-/232023625939?hash=item3605af90d3:g:gJUAAOSwTZ1XkuXL
  8. If you can't find any, I will take those pesky horns off your hands.
  9. I should get them, it's only a 78 hour round trip if I don't stop to pee.
  10. I was gonna bid on them, but it's over 10 hours round trip, and I'm covered up with things I need to do. I already have a pair of them (had two but sold a pair), and I can say they are awesome "Heresy II - Pro" speakers!
  11. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Belle-Speaker-/272316678079?hash=item3f6756bfbf:g:qnMAAOSwSv1Xkqtr
  12. That was a bargain for a local pickup. $256.50
  13. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291823722590 4 different bidders, so this won't be a walk in the park. If you live in DC area, you have a lot better chance, since the shipping is nuts on these.
  14. Sorry but no. Thanks to your post, I did some research and found that the Zener diodes need to be 10 watt (5.1v). Furthermore, there are two Zener diodes per crossover. I have updated the original post to reflect the cost of these products, but suffice to say they are indeed very expensive. The total cost is over $120 per pair of networks before shipping. Klipsch community I need your help. I have a question for you. What tweeter protection can you install if you don't have a Zener pair on the AL you own? What about the protection on the AL-3 or on the KP-201?
  15. I should bury some bodies under there before I cover it up. I'd say that trash down there has been there since 1995 when I first built that deck.
  16. These need sanded and refinished and a new logo on one. I know there are some folks wanting to get Heresy's, and these look like they might clean up well. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Klipsch-Heritage-Heresy-II-speakers-FREE-SHIPPING-/291829410001?hash=item43f26368d1:g:0woAAOSwSv1Xl~jm
  17. Heresy's are nice, but I have A/B'ed them sitting on top of my LaScalas. There is a huge difference in amplitude and overall pleasantness between the Heresy and LaScala. The LaScala is more alive sounding.
  18. That is a very attractive sub! I love it... I would still keep the front ported sub and run dual subs. Research "room modes"... You can place the sub anywhere and not be able to tell where it is. Low frequencies are non-directional. The only disadvantage to having a single sub near the sofa is that it will be turned way down compared to the mains. As long as you are sitting on the sofa or chair, things will sound just fine. If you are moving about in the room, the main speakers will be far louder than the sub. If you had a sub by the sofa and one in the front corner, the balance of the speakers to the subs would be nice. Give it a try before you throw out the old ported sub. All you need is an RCA y-adapter like this: It would be a cheap experiment.
  19. Agree wholeheartedly with this.... ... Those that think a persons post count reflects their knowledge or "value" are WRONG there are definitely people here with high post counts that spout BS consistently . If you post you should be able to defend your post or at least state that its an educated guess or only your opinion ! If you don't have the backbone to back up your remarks... ...and just as importantly, the integrity and courage to admit when you are wrong.
  20. Yes. But Stack Overflow is a completely different animal. Also, they don't show you WHO did the upvoting/downvoting. We have that option here. I'm just entertaining the idea again. I don't think it's entirely bad. (calling it "like/dislike" is probably worse than calling it "upvote/downvote") Some people may need to have their posts downvoted. :-) Perhaps, but that is a slippery slope. Ignorance is bliss. Even an amoeba will flinch from things that cause them pain. Introduction of a new mental anguish may be more like leaving the barn door open than educating folks. I would be against it on a well moderated forum.
  21. You are right. It can still be cleared up, it's just harder and frankly is where the moderators may have to become involved. If only one of the scorned people would swallow their pride, the feud could be ended right there. It takes two or more people to fight. It's like a schoolyard. The moderators are the teachers. The public, most of which do not have a decent education in this new written communication, are the children. Who is going to teach texting, emailing, and posting etiquette to the world? It is needed.
  22. The rears will get reflection from the side wall, but this might actually be a welcome thing since they are so close to the listening position. If those reflections cause problems, a acoustic wall treatment tile on the right side wall in front of the right rear surround would work very well. You really don't have a lot of choices for seating and wall distance. Experimentation will prevail for that decision, but you are going to be seated on the back wall unless there is an option I cannot see. Subwoofers are omnidirectional. If you are planning on another sub, you should considering adding it rather than replacing the one you have. Having 2 subs in 2 different positions of the room will not make the bass louder, it will however increase the modal density of the LFE. I would put the sub with the lowest frequency ability beside the sofa on the right, and the less capable one by the left front speaker.
  23. Face to face conversations are so much different than forum posts, emails and texting. Things can be misunderstood so easily. In face to face communication, we know how to respond because it is usually clear that we are being attacked. What's more, we are being challenged in a more private setting and not from a podium for all to hear. In these other forms of communicating, we have to be much more thick skinned and less quick to temper. We have to understand that the person who seems to be challenging us or ignoring us may simply not be communicating well because they don't have the time, or the written communication skills, or perhaps not paying attention. With thick skin, it can stop there. Perhaps a rebuttle with humility and politeness is a way to clear the air and resolve these misunderstandings. With thick skin, we are showing the audience of the person on that podium what we are truly made of, patience and understanding. We are stopping the war before it starts. We are educating the person and the people that this is a really effective way to resolve differences. With humility, politeness and some thick skin, we can make all of this stop. We don't need to all hug one another and sing Kumbaya. We just need to understand that what we type and what we read, though it has clarity in our own minds, can be completely misunderstood from the true meaning.
  24. Those are a very attractive finish and grille fabric. Poor guy will never get that big sound back, and his corners are going to be sadly naked.
