Congratulations! Used speakers sound the best anyway:)

They go in the $600 - $700 range around these parts. Nice score!

Once my bank account heals from my last round of purchases, I am probably going to test out the dual THX Ultra subs with the matching amp. That is a ways down the road though as I am now broke:)

Thanks! They are 650’s. I got them a couple weeks ago and had to leave town for 8 days so I haven’t had much opportunity to tweak them or even listen to them yet. I know many members hate have critical ears but I just don’t. I have liked just about every speaker I have ever owned but I really like testing out new gear so I keep changing things up. I loved my RP setup and I am sure I am going to love these THX’s also. Initial thoughts are that they have a totally different sound, that is more catered to movies and video games, which is what I am going to use them for. Like I mentioned, I don’t have very critical hearing so just about all the speakers I have owned, I have enjoyed. Good position to be in, I guess, now if I could just break the habit of buying new gear, I’d be all set.. You have better speakers than 95% of the population, just remember to keep that in mind:)

I must have skipped over that part, my apologies! The RC-64 would be just fine with your system, when properly calibrated. Could you go above the TV, like I did: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

These Monilith subs are sending waves across the subwoofer forums, especially the 15. It seems the value and performance ratio is inline with SVS was about 8 years ago, which is a very good thing for us consumers!

I ran 4 RP-160M Speakers with the RP-450C and it was a great combo. I would stick with the Reference Premier line, since that is what you already have.

These better? https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/ele/d/altec-a5a-1505b-voice-of-the/6655230445.html Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I saw those this morning but my 2 channel room is only going to be about 10x12, unfortunately.

I am in Seattle but thank you for posting!

My dream set up!!

The Marantz has sold right before the guy replied to me. I needed to buy a DSLR camera and I was cruising the local pawn shops when I saw this receiver buried under a bunch of tools. I went to Turntables and Trails in Seattle, a wonderful Seattle shop, and they were using a 5000x in their shop system. They are going to fully test and clean it for me but their main tech is out to about the middle of September:( That’s alright with me because it gives me time to locate the right pair is Heresys.

I missed out on what appeared to be some FREE Oak Forte speakers earlier today and I ran across these.
-
I really had no idea what they were worth but I knew some of you guys would find them interesting.

Sorry, I thought I linked the ad but I forgot this time: https://seattle.craigslist.org/sno/ele/d/restored-vintage-altec/6656547560.html

170lbs and 58” tall! These would probably be overkill in my 750 SF apartment.. Heck, my new THX Ultras are massively overkill in this place😛

I have heard of them but haven’t seen any pop up locally. Look very impressive to me! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have been doing a little light reading on the Sansui 5000a I picked up at a pawn shop yesterday and it actually looks like I actually got lucky. This is my first attempt at a vintage 2 channel system. Are any of you fine people using this Receiver?

That is an amazing setup!

Great looking unit!

It’s a Sansui 5000a that I snagged at a pawn shop for $150 out the door. I am going to be using it with the Rotel record player I acquired last week. Already dropped it off at Turntables and Trails, a really cool vintage store here in Seattle, to get fully serviced and cleaned. I am also going to keep my eyes out for a wood case. Now I need to grab some similar year Heresys to round out my vintage 2 channel system. Pretty excited to get all this pls school gear up and running! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would these speakers be good for a home cinema setup?

I wouldn’t call the difference between Reference Premier and the old Reference “significant”. Better, yes but not night and day difference like it sounds like you are expecting. I bet the vast majority wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, with a properly calibrated system. Both are great! -
Full disclosure, I am currently using a Denon X-3400 so I am a little biased. I have owned quite a few Denon, Aventage and Pioneer Elite receivers over the past few years and they are all wonderful. I like the ease of use of the Aventage, the power of the Elite line and the overall package of the Denon. Again, they are all great brands.
