  1. I would go 5-ch amp. This will set you up so you can go separates.
  2. I knew I wanted to do the full top reference system. I got my front 3 and used old satellites as surrounds for quite awhile. Then grabbed some older RF-3s of CL for $120, used those for several months. Next was the sub. Was gonna go SVS PB-13 Ultra but size was an issue for the lil lady so I compromised with a RSW-15 (she's still iffy). The next came the surrounds. Lastly will be an external amp. Bout a year and a half till system is where I want it. So, upgrading over time to get a higher level system is an option. Mike will set you up without subs, without recievers etc. custom package to meet your desires but ya gotta pick up the phone. Doubt you'll be disappointed.
  3. Call Mike at Acousticsounddesign.com. Many have got better prices over the phone. For ref, I got my front 3 for just under 3k shipped to my door.
  4. You did great! Enjoy those babies.
  5. For rear speakers, I was able to begin with the RS-3s ($120). Good starting point. What you'll find in the Klipsch reference line for surround is this: RS-X or RB-X. S stands for surround. B stands for bookshelf. Either of these can be used for surrounds. The "S"'s spread the sound out more, the "B"'s are more directional.
  6. Hmmm. I don't think that the RC-64ii's horn has a polarity. If not, you wouldn't note any difference in the sound from it. But the spatial difference of how the 6" drivers sit would likely be a noticeable different experience. Not sure how the timbre of a sound moving left to right would be affected. Doesn't cost you anything, give it a shot.
  7. I could not agree more when the main application is music but his primary use is for HT and twin SW-112's will not dig any deeper than one SW-112 and definitely not more than a single SW-115. Get one SW-115 and run it through it's paces and give us your opinion, then if $$$'s permit, add another to help balance out the room and add some more dB's in the process. Bill Agreed. 2 subs doesn't mean it would go lower in frequency.
  8. The thought is that 2 subs properly integrated would surpass one bigger sub. Two subs with different placement will help balance out peaks and nulls due to a rooms acoustic.
  9. Awesome Youthman! Thanks for taking the time to share. Ignorance is bliss seems so true. It's great that you were able to give it a try without any money spent. And in your own home. The room treatment theme gets touted repeatedly. Glad see another believer.
  10. This only matters if the item needs a cool down before power is fully removed. For instance I have an older 55" LCD projection. If you push the power button off, it does a cool down for the lamp. If the item doesn't need a cool down, you'll be fine without an UPS.
  11. I use a Belkin PF60. Got it for $139 from buy.com after a forum member alerted us to it. http://community.klipsch.com/forums/p/152368/1590544.aspx#1590544
  12. I've listened to the RB-61ii and was completely amazed at the detail it produced. Clean, crisp and clear. Excellent speaker!
  13. Do you have the option of going to a high end HT store to look at some of their rooms for inspiration?
  14. You may be able to use the mic on the digital radio shack spl meter as a mic for your AVR. Have to couple it down from a 1/4" phono to 1/8" headphone. Pretty sure it will need to be mono though.
  15. As many have said, it is absolutely amazing for music! Deep, rich, full and fast. No boominess in my room just amazing. For HT is is a very good sub! Many have said it lacks in that department. My only comparison is the SVS PB-12 Ultra which I heard in the home of the person I purchased this sub from. His room was smaller than man and I'll tell you this, when watching tron there was a moment when my pant legs moved from the air being pushed by that monster. So in comparison to that OUTSTANDING sub, the RSW-15 is a very good sub. So, in that comparison vein, do I feel like I'm missing out? No. I compromised for a combination of a phenominal musical sub and very good HT sub for 70% of the price of a PB-13 Ultra. So I will enjoy my RSW-15 and once I have a dedicated room, then we'll add one of those monster. So to sum up, I love it!
  16. Fish by far [Y][Y] Very enjoyable hobby. That tank and community is at 1.5yrs and counting. Upgrade bug nags at me about a 250+ gallon one but I don't have enough WAF saved up to afford it.
  17. Your AVR should be able to adjust for the time delay to keep the rear 7.1's in sync with everything else.
  18. As to the pool table, I can tell you from experience that having a "pool cues" length seperation between ALL edges of the pool able and the walls/furniture/anything else can greatly increase your billards experience. Don't know what size table you have. It's sooooo frustraighting dodging things and people to get that great angle on a shot.
  19. 75 Gal Freshwater African Cichlid tank. Mostly Haplochromis (Haps) & Peacocks. That's one of the other hobbies.
  20. New Pics since the addition of the RSW-15 and RS-62ii's. The surrounds are mobile as this setup is in the living room. So they show up for movies, and dissapear day-to-day. FRONT STAGE: LEFT SURROUND: RIGHT SURROUND:
  21. Awesome! Glad to hear it and thanks for the update. Hear that story of their customer service again and again. I've spoke with Mike a couple of times and hear was happy to educate me on their brand and BS about the hobby.
  22. Quite the leap! Congratulations!!
  23. Awesome man! Pictures pictures pictures! We love them.
  24. Sell it and get another HT sub or amplifier.
