  1. Hello All - Just thought that I would bump this thread up to let everyone know that I chatted with Justin today (online) and he is doing fine just a bit busy with school lately. Laters, Jeff
  2. So we can bring CD's, SACD's, DVD-A's, and vinyl to demo next week right? Laters, Jeff
  3. I thought I would just bump this for the folks looking for some more pics. Goto here: http://home.comcast.net/~stangbanger/Cars/Auto_Page.html and click on the Ranchero link. It is quick and dirty but hey the pictures are there. Laters, Jeff
  4. Deal!! I will drive Buster (1967 Ranchero) to the event. That way, if after hosting the event, we convince you that the speakers and amps are worthless I will have a way to take them all home. Laters, Jeff

  6. Wow I can't believe that I missed this the first time around. I am 100% for correct timbre matching (I have even converted a few with my system). My system started out with Cornwall mains, RC3, and RS3's and it is now all Cornwalls. I have used Heresy's as center and rears. Look at my web page for all the different configurations that I have been through. The Heresy was a great match for the Cornwall's until I listened to DVD-A and SACD. Then the difference was quite apparent! I think that for movies that you can get by or make do with a less than perfect match but not for multi-channel music. I agree with the other posters to get Heresy's for the center and surround if you don't have the room for the larger speakers. If you get lucky on some eBay auctions you can pick up all of the Heresys for less than the cost of the single RC-7. Laters, Jeff
  7. WOOT I am there with bells on! Laters, Jeff
  8. In addition to having the DFW Hornheads over every now and then (mostly sound focused) I have had several Theater events. I have had: Star Wars Marathons (4,5, and 6 before 1 was released and 1 before 2 was released, and of course I am planning on 1 and 2 before 3 is released) LOTR Marathons Kill Bill 1 before Kill Bill 2 Superbowl parties for the past 4 years Various other showings People love it! I have a great time too. So far nothing has broken or gone wrong. I always power up the system a couple of hours before and event and check all the sound levels with a sound meter. I also check the inputs and the DVD player and of course the DVD itself. Then I switch over my networked MP3 player with slide show/screen saver and play music while people filter in, get muchies, drinks etc.. Then one press on the remote and the macro to dim the lights, switch all the inputs, and start the DVD kicks everything into high gear. Laters, Jeff
  9. Large speakers for surrounds? Heck ya! I am using Cornwalls all the way around and for DVD-A or SACD I would not have it any other way. You may get away with smaller surrounds for movies but not with multi-channel high rez music. Laters, Jeff
  10. Ivan next weekend??? Man I feel so bad for you guys..I hope everybody is ok. Laters, Jeff
  11. Justin had just started the new school year and doing fine as of a couple of weeks ago. I will see if I can get ahold of him and tell him to pop in here and say hey. He did spend some time in the islands during the summer but is back in school now. Laters, Jeff
  12. Bass is a tricky animal to tame sometimes. It it much easier to have all your deep bass coming from a single point instead of several. Room nodes and cancellation will drive you crazy. If you need more bass my suggestion to you is to set all your speakers to small and cross them over at 60 or 80 Hz and then add subwoofers off of the LFE output. I have 3 SVS woofers and that is exactly what I have done. Also all the subs are of course located in the same spot. Look at my web page or system profile link for pictures. Laters, Jeff

  15. Yeah you need a Cornwall for the Center. I hung mine (Look at my Web page). If you are going plasma then just set the plasma on top of a Vert Cornwall that is laying on its side Of course the Cornwall cabinet should be tilted up a bit but you get the idea. The depth is going to be dictated by the lenght of the mid range horn which will be the same on a Cornwall or Heresy. Another option would be to take the horns out of the cabinet and mount them in a wedge in the ceiling with wires going down to the woofer in the orginal cabinet. Look through the Home Theater Pictures thread and you will see a guy who did that with a front projection setup. I think it looks slick. EDIT: Here is a link to J-Malotky's Theater http://forums.klipsch.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=50440 Laters, Jeff
  16. I would not recommend using any rs-* (surround speaker) as your center channel. The surround speakers do exactly the oppisite of what you want in a center. You want the center channel to direct all the dialogue and center channel information right at you. A surround speaker is made to diffuse all of those sounds. Laters, Jeff

That way you would not need a switch box. Laters, Jeff

I have Comcast HD service and I love it. You have to get a an HD cable box from Comcast and hook it up to your HD capable viewing device. Now about what makes something HD. First off what makes it High Defination is the resolution (720p or 1080i) not the connection. In my experience there is very little difference to the picture quality connecting via DVI or component. DVI is better but nothing I would lose sleep over. If you have a digital projector or fixed panel display it needs a native resolution of at least 1280X720 (720p) to properly display HD material. How many connections does your projector have? What type is it? I would recommend getting a switch box or using a high quality AV Receiver to switch the component connections. Laters, Jeff
  19. Wow that is a super cool way to mount the center!! Do you have a micro-perf'd screen? Laters, Jeff
  20. Great looking theaters everyone!!! That is the look I will be aiming for Laters, Jeff
  22. Hey guys thanks for all the comments!! I have some more pictures that I will try and post later tonight. The truck was built with a 289, 3 on the tree manual tranny, manual steering, manual brakes, and no A/C (but after market underdash unit installed). All that is still there. This car is orginal as they come except for the A/C, radio, seat covers, headliner, and paint. The truck only has 72,000 orginal miles on it so everything is in ok condition. The paint job is a 10 footer, meaning it looks great from 10 ft away The 289 is pretty peppy but does not put the truck into the "hot rod" catagory...however I have plans to fix that. You see I have this car: that has this motor in it and this motor has this stuff in it (now using different heads than in picture): 347 Stroker Motor - Eagle Forged Rods, Probe Flat Top Pistons (machined to take a greater valve lift then I am currently using and to accept "High Port" heads for future improvements); RPM Main Bolt Girdle; 9.5:1 Compression Ratio; Crane Hardened Pushrods; New 5.0 Roller Cam Block from SVO; Brass Freeze Plugs; SVO Double Roller Fully Indexable Timing Chain; SVO "FluidDampr" Style Harmonic Balancer; Canton 7 Qt. Double Hump Oil Pan; All ARP Hardware; Custom ground Lunati Cam (don't even ask for specs); Larger 7qt Canton Oil Pan; Stage 3 ported and polished Dart Windsor Jr. Heads; Ported and port matched Victor Jr. Intake; Holley 4150 750 CFM Double Pumper tweaked by Chuck Nutten; S&B Filter Top; SVO HD oil pump; Aeromotive 1000 HP fuel pump; Aeromotive filter; regulators for Nitrous; big *** return fuel line; MSD 7AL-3 box; MSD Blaster Coil; MSD Buillit Distributor <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> but the problem is the the Mustang, while it hauls *** and is one quick m'fer just is not a "classic" plus the emmisions testing put in place basically mean that I will have to "buy" an inspection sticker. Enter the 1967 Ranchero, slip in one hot 347 motor and my very very HD C4 from the Mustang and voila instant classic hot rod that does not get emmision tested. I plan on keeping all the orginal parts in case I want to do a full on "trailer queen" restoration in the future. The rest of the Mustang will be sold to a friend of mine that has another '83 that he wrecked beyond reasonable repair. So you see a little tranding here, a little swapping there and everyone is happy! So the to-dos are: Motor Transplant Transmission Transplant Dual Exhuast Passenger Side Door (lock and window do not go up and down. Hopefully just a WD-40 fix) Tires and Rims Interior carpet and trim work body work and paint. Oh and Zeke I think we are cool. I am a Gin and Tonic man and I prefer to light up ummm shall we just say "other" types of leaves. Laters, Jeff
  23. I thought that I would post this for any car nuts here. After much hard searching and looking I finally found one of these close by (90 miles). I can't believe my luck!! I have been looking for one for a llllloooonnnnggg time. I took these pictures in front of the owners (previous owner I guess) house. Now it is mine all mine..my precious.. Laters, Jeff

Too bad Texas ain't California (or vice versa). A very nice offer! Popbumper ---------------- LOL not quite true. The mains in my system are powered by a Fisher 500B, which is technically a receiver, so you have at least listened to tubes Laters, Jeff
  25. Not to hijack the thread but if you guys can get together you should. Whenever the guys here in the DFW area get together it is an awesome time. You should all plan on attending if it gets organized. Laters, Jeff
