  1. I know I posted earlier but I found this and I thought that it sums up my thoughts. Colin - Yes to all of your questions except using chemical and nukes. Heck he can even have his $300 back. ************************** We'll go forward from this moment It's my job to have something to say. They pay me to provide words that help make sense of that which troubles the American soul. But in this moment of airless shock when hot tears sting disbelieving eyes, the only thing I can find to say, the only words that seem to fit, must be addressed to the unknown author of this suffering. You monster. You beast. You unspeakable bastard. What lesson did you hope to teach us by your coward's attack on our World Trade Center, our Pentagon, us? What was it you hoped we would learn? Whatever it was, please know that you failed. Did you want us to respect your cause? You just damned your cause. Did you want to make us fear? You just steeled our resolve. Did you want to tear us apart? You just brought us together. Let me tell you about my people. We are a vast and quarrelsome family, a family rent by racial, social, political and class division, but a family nonetheless. We're frivolous, yes, capable of expending tremendous emotional energy on pop cultural minutiae -- a singer's revealing dress, a ball team's misfortune, a cartoon mouse. We're wealthy, too, spoiled by the ready availability of trinkets and material goods, and maybe because of that, we walk through life with a certain sense of blithe entitlement. We are fundamentally decent, though -- peace-loving and compassionate. We struggle to know the right thing and to do it. And we are, the overwhelming majority of us, people of faith, believers in a just and loving God. Some people -- you, perhaps -- think that any or all of this makes us weak. You're mistaken. We are not weak. Indeed, we are strong in ways that cannot be measured by arsenals. IN PAIN Yes, we're in pain now. We are in mourning and we are in shock. We're still grappling with the unreality of the awful thing you did, still working to make ourselves understand that this isn't a special effect from some Hollywood blockbuster, isn't the plot development from a Tom Clancy novel. Both in terms of the awful scope of their ambition and the probable final death toll, your attacks are likely to go down as the worst acts of terrorism in the history of the United States and, probably, the history of the world. You've bloodied us as we have never been bloodied before. But there's a gulf of difference between making us bloody and making us fall. This is the lesson Japan was taught to its bitter sorrow the last time anyone hit us this hard, the last time anyone brought us such abrupt and monumental pain. When roused, we are righteous in our outrage, terrible in our force. When provoked by this level of barbarism, we will bear any suffering, pay any cost, go to any length, in the pursuit of justice. I tell you this without fear of contradiction. I know my people, as you, I think, do not. What I know reassures me. It also causes me to tremble with dread of the future. In the days to come, there will be recrimination and accusation, fingers pointing to determine whose failure allowed this to happen and what can be done to prevent it from happening again. There will be heightened security, misguided talk of revoking basic freedoms. We'll go forward from this moment sobered, chastened, sad. But determined, too. Unimaginably determined. THE STEEL IN US You see, the steel in us is not always readily apparent. That aspect of our character is seldom understood by people who don't know us well. On this day, the family's bickering is put on hold. As Americans we will weep, as Americans we will mourn, and as Americans, we will rise in defense of all that we cherish. So I ask again: What was it you hoped to teach us? It occurs to me that maybe you just wanted us to know the depths of your hatred. If that's the case, consider the message received. And take this message in exchange: You don't know my people. You don't know what we're capable of. You don't know what you just started. But you're about to learn. 3. Actually you need to dig a bit to get to them. they are not on the little "flyout" menus. Goto products and then click on the Reference series and scroll down the list. 4. Ack you guys are killing me with these prices. If you want to break the ground loop from the cable system (a very very common problem) try this out. http://www.hometech.com/video/atten.html Look for XA-63400 Ground Breaker it is around $7 or so. I have no comment on the audio stuff but I guess it is worth it if it does not affect the sound any. EDIT - I had the same hum problem with my Hafler when I plugged it into the system to power the SVS Woofer but it had a switch on it to change the chassis to a floating ground. That fixed the fixed the problem. I am guessing that it works basically the same way as using a cheater plug. 7. DelDelacroix - How you hookup your subwoofer will depend on your receiver. If your receiver has a line level output (normal RCA looking jack) for the subwoofer/LFE channel then you would run a RCA cable to your subwoofer amplifer. If your receiver does not have this type of jack then you would run speaker wire to your subwoofer amplifer. In either case the seperate amplifer in the subwoofer is doing all the work and your Sony will not actually be driving the subwoofer. You would still get 800 watts from the subwoofer even if your receiver was ony 5 watts. Hope that helps. EDIT - Get the biggest baddest subwoofer you can afford. You can never have too much bass WOOF!!! 8. Your setup is certainly awsome. I bet it rocks when everything is cranked up. Would you mind listing what speakers you use with what systems and listing the equipment that you have? BTW the pictures are fine you still have some brain cells left (and they must be mighty happy with all those Klipsch around:-). I just have one last question. Where are your socks? 9. Tom Tom Tom - I am sooo jealous. Do you have any imaging problems with the tweeter of the Heresy off to one side? Have you tried it upside down in the center of the TV? Just wondering cause a Heresy is one of my options for my next center speaker. Humm are those socks on top of the electronics on the right Cornwall? 11. Very nice setup!! This picture gives me a good idea of the size for a KLF-C7. I am thinking about getting one but lordy it is big. I don't think that it will fit on top of my TV :-(. 12. I have a HK AVR 510 powering my Cornwalls, RC3, and RS3's and I am totally happy with the unit. The remote is not the greatest but the sonic quality and power are top notch. 16. Hummm they say a RF7 as a center match for the Cornwalls. I wonder if they meant a RC7? 17. Give this link a try. It is the has the most information that I have found. It must be old I found it several months aga and I don't think that it has been updated. 18. I am going to go look at a pair of Heresy's in bad condition (finish wise) and unknown working conditon otherwise. If I bring along a SPL meter, remove the grill (if possible) and stick the mic into the throat of the horns (while playing music of course) if I could tell if the horns where working or not. Any thoughts? ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC

  20. Somperson - The AVR 110 is the small brother to the AVR 510 that I own. If you want to make sure that your rear speakers are properly connected then switch the surround mode to 5 Ch Stereo. This will output the same signal at the same level to all 5 speakers. If your speakers are working here then the issue is what the folks here have already memtioned. I listen to digital cable using the stereo rca connectors on the cable box in Logic 7 Cinema mode and very rarely do the surrounds come on. The most noticable is during live taped stereo broadcast shows (like Letterman when the audience is pumped to the rears) or wacthing a moive on HBO. Another good test would be to get a stereo vcr and hook it to the AVR 110. Then get a THX certified movie like Star Wars or X Men tape that plays the THX intro. During this demo in Prologic or Logic 7 Cinema mode the surrounds should be very active. Of course before you do any of this get yourself a SPL meter and a test disk like Video Essientials or AVIA and make sure all your channels are properly balanced. Hope this makes some sense. 21. Humm that is a good thought. Does anyone know how strong the cabinets on the Belle are? When mounted it would have to be inverted with all the weight resting on its top (to get the tweeters in the correct positon). Bye, ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC
  22. I replaced my HK AVR20 MKII with a HK510 some months ago. I really love it. It has tons of inputs and ample power for my speakers. It it aswome as a 2 channel receiver also. I know that HK has been bashed recently about some quality problems but I think that they have gotten those straightened out. I have not had any problems with either of my HK units (the AVR20 was used daily for 7 years at rather loud volumes without a problem). Laters, ------------------ FOR SALE OR TRADE COMPLETE R*3 SYSTEM FOR 3 HERESY'S Main System - Cornwalls (L/R main) RC-3 RS-3's (white) SVS 20-39CS Harman Kardon AVR 510 Hafler P505 (running sub) ProMedia 4.2 v400 for PC
  23. Fried - I have the solution for you :-) I had the same problem on my HK AVR510. This receiver, and most others, will not convert the signal from s-video to composite and vice versa. There are some newer models out that are supposed to do this but I am not sure if they have been released yet. Anyway goto Radio Shack and get a composite to s-video converter. They should be by where they have all the s video, coax, and optical home theater hookups. They cost $20 or so. There are more expensive ones available on the web ($140) but I don't know how much better they are. So what I did for both my VCR and digital cable box is get a short 1' RCA male to RCA male cable, plug this into the composite to s video converter and then run a s video cable from the converter to the receiver. Then run a s video cable from the monitor out to the s video input on your tv. I have my DVD player, PC video out, the cable box, and a VCR all connected to my AVR with s video and then to the TV. This allows me to use the AVR to switch between all these sources without having to touch anything on the TV. EDIT - In case it was not obvious all the sound is also running thru the AVR also (I do not use the TV speakers at all for any source although I could). Radio Shack also has a S-video cable with optical cable attached (used for DVD palyer) and a s video cable with L/R RCA cables attached (used for cable box and VCR). Using all s video allows the higher defination s video signal of the DVD player to be used. NOTE - the composite to s video converters will not upgrade the signal to s video resolution. They only convert the composite signal to be used on a s video signal input. Hope this helps. 24. Hehe ok but try and find an Academy for sale :-) I thought about an RF-7 also but mounting/placement would be a problem. Also I know that I could use the C-7 also or possibly a RC-7. Ideally I would like to get another Cornwall or a Heresy speaker. What appealed to me here was that this one is already angled and made for wall mounting. As you point out though it is expensive. 25. This looks like a Heresy already designed for wall mounting. Anyone know anything about these?
