  1. That's good news since I have heard others complain that the Heresy IIs are superior to the IIIs. Thanks! I would gladly take a pair of HIIIs over my HIIs.Marshall, perhaps your comparison with the 4311s is why I like my HIIs so much. []I found the sound to be very similar, except the mid on the JBL will break up sooner and the overall sensitivity of the Heresy IIs is way better. Bruce
  2. On the original Heresies, all the drivers are mounted on the rear of the front baffle, and access is obtained by removing the backs, which are screwed on. They also have a terminal block for the speaker wire connections. The Heresy IIs have all three speakers mounted on the front of the baffle, and the backs are glued on. You gain access to the inside of the cabinet by removing the woofer or other drivers. The speaker connections are on a mounting cup. (as well as the crossover components) Once you are inside, the mid and tweets are also different. Bruce
  3. I told my Filipina fiancee, who teaches English but has never been to the U.S., that she may have trouble understanding folks once she moves here. I believe she thinks I am kidding. I was on the phone with a firend of hers from Nepal, and her English was flawless. She happens to speak four languages.

Always an Anglican in the crowd... I stand corrected. Dave Dave,When they were 90 degrees to the left, on the longer wal of the living room, I was sitting too close to them with my back against the other wall. As it is, I am only about 10 feet back. The sound is far better than it probably should be, hauntingly so, and I often think there are musicians seated in the front hallway. Well, it would be the Narthex since it is the entrance, but I don't usually sit facing the BACK of the church, so apse may be more meaningful. And since we're not Anglicans, I won't make any Anglican jokes. [] Bruce

For a while I was in the habit of saving pics of people's speakers, but it's like tossing stuff in a closet. My own LS are a lot more mundane looking, and the room is bigger. Bruce
  6. You could put them in the corner easy enough... I'm sure the SM stands for Stage Monitor. They don't make them any more. Most stage monitors are made with two different angles, allowing for different stage configurations, and have the input jacks/crossovers on one end. It probably helped lead them to an early demise in the market.
  7. Bob C. picked up some birch H-SM on one of his road trips.

I guess they look like a deeper Cornwall... Nice looking, though. I should have labeled who owned them.
  9. Nope, you never take it out on your kids. Never, ever!
  10. Sounds like a nice plan to me, although you wouldn't be done with them yet. [:^)] Most would want th ehorns covered up... The finish turned out excellent! Bruce
  11. If you move away from the titanium diaphragm, to a phenolic, you will have to go to a three way.I know that Dennis indicated it would be hard to beat for the price. Bruce

And the right side. I don't remember to whom these belonged, but they look nice.

At the moment they are 1,383.94 USD. Considering how rare Klipsch are in Australia, if I had the money, I would get them. You can always make grills to cover the black, like these:
  15. I didn't say they were "harsh", just not as balanced, with the mids too forward. That could, of course, be adjusted, but I don't think many "turn down" the mids. Bruce
  16. Gil, What wasn't mentioned for a pair of Jubes is the need for four new woofers. Josh already has a pair of K-33s. That Eminence driver looks really good, but would be about a $720 outlay for four. Then there are the more costly crossovers (active or passive). No doubt the Jubilee is a great speaker, but people often want to pooh-pooh the older models when they are still better than the majority of other brands on the market. Bruce
  17. Good explanation Marshal, and given the money, I would get a new pair of HIIIs. Next in line would be to convert my HIIs to IIIs. I personally like the IIs over the originals, because they sound more balanced to me. My own opinion points to the K55 mid on the original. It seems waaaay too hot for my tastes, and too in your face. Overall, the newest ones really are better. Bruce
  18. Have a look at this link. I've used Weldbond with great success. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/108660/1096366.aspx#1096366 And welcome... Bruce
  19. They've actually moved into more guitar related tubes and gear, but they have a lot available. They have Mullard, Siemens, etc., and their prices aren't bad.
  20. I don't have one of mine by itself... Love my Taylor, too.
  21. This migth be more helpful; http://www.indyaudiolabs.com/product-support.aspx
  22. That's what I thought, too.I found a pic of the insides of one, taken by a forum member when they were selling, and it looked like they were pcb mounted.Bruce
  23. He listed this as the schematic and it shows values, too. Doesn't this have enough info? Bruce
  24. Did you have the chassis out of the wood case when you repaired the jack? This could be answered by Mark or anyone willing to open up their original BB. The question is, how are the controls wired up on the front? Are they mounted directly to the pcb, or are there wires running from the board to the controls? If the latter, they could be wired wrong. A comparison to any other model won't help. Bruce
  25. Neo, I understand that. I had a BBX for a while, which wasn't as colorful as the original BB, but also didn't have the RED and WHITE colored jacks, only the L and R labels. I was referring to older gear that often had colors for the plastic in the jacks.
