  1. I still use a couple of the RA-100 amps. Really pretty decent for the money. Absolutely no ICs in them, all discreet devices, unless they're hiding somewhere in the chassis. You can pick them up used really inexpensively.Bruce
  2. Glenn, that is awesome! I know you had posted earlier, and I have wondered about your progress. It is great what all of you guys have been doing.I am only at 155 lbs., but need to exercise and tone up a lot. I was at 145 when I was in the Philippines a year ago, because of all the walking I did and all of the fesh food I ate while there. Our processed food in the US is hurting us all big time. This thread is a great encouragement to me, and I seriously mean that. Bruce
  3. That's why I wanted to replace the AL crossovers in my LaScalas. [] Dean, how close are yours to John Albright's, like the ones I put in my LS? Bruce
  4. I just started with a good thing... [] What have you done with your Cornies? You know - you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
  5. Uh, what value would the 10W resistor be?
  6. I think that would be "NICE!" as in a real work of art, beautiful construction.
  7. Out close to where they dropped off Jimmy Hoffa... a rather wet area with larger reptiles....
  8. Tim, The LS woofer to mid driver is crossed at 400Hz, so a 50Hz bottom end driver is probably going to be a problem, unless the crossover is changed to cross higher than the 500Hz. Bruce
  9. Ditto on the realism! Love my LaScalas. Seems to be a "right" combination with my BBX/Moondogs. My CDs even have plenty of bass. Bruce
  10. So this means you made up four boards, two for the bass bins and two for the tweets? This means you are biwired I guess. Bruce
  11. Very nicely done, Dean. Are those done from the schematic that was posted as a pdf? Are you going to try Mark's upgraded D-45? Bruce
  12. Glenn, This is a horrible thing, made all the more so by being someone you know. My prayers are with you and you whole neighborhood. Bruce
  13. That almost made me laugh, but that notion is pretty sad. It happens everywhere.
  14. How much money do you want to spend, or are willing to spend? Can you run a single cable betwen the locations? I can post links tomorrow of devices to send stereo and video over signle Cat5 network cable, much rather than you would probably have in your home. A small box on each end. Bruce http://www.kramerelectronics.com These guys have little boxes to use cat4 cable to extend audio and video (various video topologies, i.e., composite, y/c, component) 150 feet plus.
  15. Any color markings? Sometimes a red dot is placed by the positive terminal.
  16. That would really be the pits... [:^)]
  17. A beautiful job once again! [Y] Would you be able to give a a cost for these? I'm sure it helps keep the noise down to put the power outboard. Bruce
  18. Oh, I understand that quite well. I am just getting some enjoyment out of the Cut-Throat's recognizing the Rand reference. Not picking on you at all, either.
  19. I would say that Cut-Throat's comments weren't so far out of line. He caught who John Galt is...[*-)]Kinda funny, really, but I am easily amused.
  20. Putting passives in a set of Heresies is like porting them. You want to re-engineer a Klipsch product, which can be fun, but you are shooting in the dark, really. Since the Heresy II has a non-removable back, you destroy a nice set of cabinets for...? I agree with the idea of building other boxes for all components if you want to try it. You could make the cabs the size of a Tangent 400, which uses the same components as the HIIs, bigger and with ports. Use passives instead.
  21. There have been a few that have not liked them. I think Allan Songer didn't like them in his Cornwalls. A couple of others. For the most part, Bob came up with a home run on them.
  22. To post imges, the first thing is to resize them so they aren't too big. 600-800 pixel wide will work. The forum software will still scale them down a bit to display them, but clicking on them will show the full size.Unless hosted somewhere else and you put in links, you can only put in one pic per post (bummer) When creating a post, there is an option tab. on there is an add/update button, which opens a small window where you can browse to your pic. You may need to scroll to the right to see the save button. Once in uploads the photo, you can post it. I keep thinking I will make a pdf with pics, that explains it all... but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Bruce
  23. John, Welcome to the forum. What a great way to get into the lunacy! Of course, we would like to see pics of everything once you get the amps. Also like to know how you like the low power route. If you have already done some mods on the LS, you should be good to go. What style of music do you listen to? Just remember... you are the one who listens to your own equipment, so if you like it, that is the most important thing. Bruce
  24. Bob Crites tweeter - CT125 is an APT-50 mated to a new horn, that is a drop in replacement. It took me all of 10-15 minutes to swap out the tweeters in both of my LaScalas. The improvement, for me, was dramatic. Some have not liked them at all. Bob's prices are more than fair, as well, andhe is great to work with.Bruce
