  1. Me too...Erik, I would like to get around to trying out some mods... someday...
  2. Jim,The guitar is a Godin LG-P90. All mahogany... a beautiful piece of wood. I got is used for $300. I love this guitar.
  3. I wish I had been able to meet up with you and your family when you were over this way. Even for an hour of so, it would have been nice.Jim, I knew is was from the 8' set. The foot is missing. Nothing broken off of it. Barbara and I collected all kinds of junk... makes the house rather eclectic. Not sure the new lady will go for that. [*-)]
  4. I posted this in the thread on 'Klipsch Spotters." We are using it with our new in ceiling Klipsch at the college where I work. Nice. Well, it isn't a Klipsch, but this is a nice amp. It works as 70V or low impedance (4 or 8 ohms), and sets the amp automagically per channel. 200wpc or so... maybe a little higher. Was about $1200 for the school. You can set a high pass filter (70Hz). They do make a 4 channel amp that could be used to biamp some Jubs. All you would need is the crossover. Maybe this is what Dean needs to get.

  6. One of the in ceiling speakers out on top of the Crest amp. Playing some music in the office. Sounded great! Uh, did I already say that? These are two ways...
  7. These aren't installed yet (duh!), but are going to go into our new academic building at the college where I work. In ceiling speakers tied in to a Crest Audio 8 channel amp. These speakers sound GREAT!
  8. Jim - from the speaker end of the room - And the organ pipe I got from the physics dept. at the college when they were cleaning out. Barbara thought it was pretty cool. It's not actually 8'. maybe more like 4 or 5. I like the current arrangement of the room a lot. I move furniture aound every onece in a while, it's cheaper than moving. []
  9. I hear ya Craig. I enjoy my LaScalas and Moondogs very much. On the other hand, I understand that they might sound a lot better with the drivers time aligned. Perhaps a lot better. That is the main way these guys have been using the XTi, to provide the time alignment. Yet...Rigma has his powered by 300B amps and passive crossovers and says they are fantastic (as well as others who have heard his system. We can't throw out the passives... they may not be perfect, but they still work quite well. Bruce
  10. The room looks rather busy. I am obviously not going to use these for HT, as you pass between the LaScalas to get to the rest of the house (right out the front door, left to the kitchen).
  11. That's probably what happened with the $25 pair of Heresy IIs and stands.
  12. I rearranged my living room a couple of months ago, and now have my LaScalas abotu 6ft apart. Still have a couple of feet on each side to the walls. I sit about 10ft back. The imaging is much more solid, and I have instruments that seem to be farther out to the left and right. As important to me, the room is far more cozy, while seeming to havemore space. It's one of theose weird things that just happened to work out to my satisfaction. Bruce
  13. Cool, Ben. That looks like a Newcomb amp from sometime in the '50s.Bruce
  14. Wow, Bernie, nice setup. You liking the Stingray? Curious about the Khorns no in corners, too. I'm still loving the LS! Bruce
  15. How hard would it be for you to make a set of sketches for me, with measurements of the Texans? Just how the horn is made with the folds. I want to do a couple of these in my 3D drawing program. The Texan looks even easier that the Dixielander. Bruce
  16. available for $199, in Marietta, GA (north side of Atlanta - I go through there every weekend). Look to be in good shape, a two way. Has a 416 woofer, 807 tweeter on an 811B. Not affiliated with the seller and all that jazz. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/ele/627037935.html
  17. Kaiser - do you have some gear suspended from the ceiling in the attic shot? Maybe I could do that in my living room.
  18. In sunny San Salvador. Might make a nice vacation. []
  19. That's ok. I believe that Klipsch hired RIchard Paynting away from Bose. At the last Klipsch gathering, someone asked him if he thought he should go apologize to all the folk who bought Bose while he was there. He took it all in stride and we all had a good laugh. He is the Chief Technology Officer at Klipsch. What a night that was.
  20. You could travel south of the border and visit Tony. He has one of Jeff's PP 2A3 amps. The controversy had to do with shring the schematic of the Moondogs. No more, no less. As for detail, both of my sons love the Moondogs, detail, attack and bass... go figure. I know they aren't just humoring the old man. Maybe....[*-)]
  21. The first time I heard this song by John Gorka, I wept. I do most every time I hear it. Let Them In was made into song by John from a poem found in a hospital in the Philippines during World War II. The nurse that found the poem kept it all these years until the recent war brought out all the memorabilia. Luckily, her daughter sent a copy to John. Let Them In by John Gorka "Let them in, Peter They are very tired Give them couches where the angels sleep And light those fires Let them wake whole again To brand new dawns Fired by the sun not wartime's Bloody guns May their peace be deep Remember where the broken bodies lie God knows how young they were To have to die God knows how young they were To have to die So give them things they like Let them make some noise Give dance hall bands not golden harps To these our boys And let them love, Peter For they've had no time They should have trees and bird songs And hills to climb The taste of summer in a ripened pear And girls sweet as meadow wind With flowing hair And tell them how they are missed But say not to fear It's gonna be alright With us down here Let them in, Peter Let them in, Peter Let them in, Peter
  22. The last place I worked had a professor come to work for us while he was on sabbatical. He shipped his pc from Portland, Oregon to Chattanooga, Tenn. It arrived with the CPU/heatsink/fan bouncing around inside the case. It had pulled out of the ZIF socket somewhere along the journey. The only visible damage was most of the pins on the cpu were folded over. I was able to straighten them, installed the processor and it worked fine.He was one very, very lucky man. (and happy I fixed it for him, too)
  23. Over here is was Shoney's Big Boy... Did they have strawberry pie at your's?
