  1. Really nice work. Not having the diamond in front won't change the sound, and look at all the money you've saved. [Y] [Y] [Y] [Y] [Y]
  2. The silliness is great... We could use more of it, and it still doesn't take long to scroll through the silly posts.
  3. You ain't from around these parts are you...[*-)]Wonderful way to get the word out. How many of the Jubilees will have to be sold to individuals before thy start selling them as home speakers?
  4. At least the first model is attactive...What I want is a pair of those LSIIs
  5. They can't be... I don't own a pair. [8-)] Congrats... always nice to get new toys. And I always look forward to seeing pics of the gear folks get. Bruce
  6. I once worked with a retired Navy pilot. He and our boss were up in the D.C. area on business, when the boss told him they could swing by the Viet Nam Memorial. The boss man couldn't understand why he wouldn't go. "Someday," he said, "but not now..." On my way home from church today, I heard this song by Eric Bogle. It's scalled Hallowed Ground. Another time, another place, another war. http://ericbogle.net/lyrics/lyricspdf/hallowedground.pdf
  7. Sheesh! Then you might actually get some work done... []
  8. "Between" was a poor choice of words. I didn't want to post the schematic... we've been through all that before. [:#]
  9. The choke is in the power supply, between the first two electroytics, coming off the GZ37...
  10. No apologies needed. I am comfortable enough soldering and workin on my gear, but always a bit afraid as well. It is funny that the one thing I sould like to try owuld be the most expensive... putting in the grid chokes. My budget is rather tight right now (whose isn't?), but maybe later in the summer. I've saved all the info about the mods, so I won't have to ask again. Well, I won't have to ask if I remember where I saved it, anyway. Bruce
  11. We have a couple of brick and mortar places still in Chattanooga, but they aren[t open on Saturdays, so you would have to get there during the week, which is hard for me. We had a third one that was really good, until the owner retired. The new owners started fixing it up and even carrying more stuff... then one day it was gone.
  12. Tom, they have an album out. There was areasonably long thread about it some time back. I still have to pick it up, but I have liked what I heard. Actually was very impressed with the lower key material of Plant. It's pretty mellow, certainly not bluegrass... You can hear some of the cuts off the CD here (links open in new page): http://www.rounder.com/index.php?id=album.php&musicalGroupId=7773&catalog_id=7038 And their web site: http://www.robertplantalisonkrauss.com/site.php Bruce
  13. Thanks Erik, I think I can handle that no problem... [] I'll add it to my summer projects list. The choke would be pretty easy to do to.They seem pretty balanced to me, but I know others might come to my house and go, "what the...." I even have bass on my LS with these guys. Must be something wrong. After wrestling with the space inside an ST-70, these look more spacious than I remembered. Time to go listen to them now, before I hit the sack.
  14. I was thinking it was crowded under there, but finally was able to find the pic I took when I first got these. I think you had them for a while didn't you? Didn't you tell me at one time which OPTs are in my pair? Anyway, there is plenty of room. Thanks for the tips, I am likely to try some or all of these.
  15. Great! JJ has been around here for quite some time and never stomped on anyone as best I can recall. I think he made a serious comment that deserved a little more of a serious answer. You have a bad day or something?
  16. Erik, You mean there is room for a grid choke under the hood of the Moondogs? I'll have to look again. Do you remember what the part number was for those. Jeff has a couple listed on the Pantheon site. Priced per pair. Bruce
  17. Man, I couldn't agree with you more. I love my Heritage product, but not because it is Heritage. It is because I oculd afford it and it was available... The sound is great too.It shouldn't matter if the speakers are only $50 each, they ought to be built well. [Y]
  18. Per Dennis' directions, I used some cig papers and Weldbond to fix the surrounds on some JBLs. It worked out great. Saved a lot of money, too.
  19. I thought it meant Point of Sale - JC has tried out and sold so much gear...[*-)] It will be hard to meat out the Mac equipment. That was funny. [<)]
  20. I suppose we could use that money to feed the hungry and clothe the poor... (of course, I say that while listening to my Heritage system, Moondogs and BBX.)
  21. My vintage H/K430 is used in my bedroom system driving my Heresy IIs. Strictly CDs and the receiver. If they are good amps, SS will sound every bit as good as tubes. We all have our opinions.
  22. [Y] Just glad you got them. I was in the middle of something else, so other methods were posted before I could get to it.
  23. Larry, Put this in your browser address line: ftp://ftp.mallette.org/ You should get a list of the different songs. Right click on one song at a time and choose <save target as>. This should be what you get with the IE. In Firefox you choose <save link as>. You should get it from there. Bruce
  24. Thanks Mark. I have part of a leftover spool of some 10 base 2 (802.3) cable, pretty much equiv. to Belden's 9907, which is rated at 25.4 pF/Ft. A little higher than what you are saying, but it is great to work with and I have quite a bit of it. I just didn't want to go to the trouble of terminating it if it will be too high. Since we haven't run coax for any network stuff for over ten years, I figured I might be able to put it to good use. Bruce
  25. I guess I don't get it. I have used my Merlin/Dynaco combo with my Heresy IIs, an H/K430 with my Heresy IIs, and the bass is the same with both, and it is GREAT! I don't mean you can just tell there is bass there but not enough. They sound GREAT. Do you guys put thump boxes in your cars too? You probably use some high falootin' wire, too.
